Version history:
------------------------

1.1: Fixed a little the Combat section.
Added something in the Menu Translation section.
     Added Rank C Robots.
     Updated Thanks section.

1.0: This is the first version, so is completely an update.
Some sections lack, and the available robots are only
     complete until D rank.

Before starting:
------------------------
First of all this is the first game-faq I ever wrote, so won't be
exceptional, and I welcome every help and suggestion. Second, I
cannot read Japanese (but I'd like to), so maybe translations will
not be really literal, but I assure they are functional. Third,
I am a great fan of almost every robot series, but for some robots
I know only the Italian name and not the Japanese or International
one, and there are many robots series which never arrived in Italy,
so I know them from the SRW series, but don't know their names
(remember? I cannot read Japanese), so I will welcome any help
naming the various robots. If someone needs a savegame with already
many robots, ask me.

What is this game?
------------------------
I love and played every single game of the SRW serie, including
side games, such as Battle Robot Retsutoden and Panzer Warfare
(Shin Masoukishin). All this games are somewhat very similar,
this one is indeed really different. When I first saw it I thinked
it was a flop, but recently I started to play and I discovered how
great it is! It is based on a team robot fight, but now you have
more to think on the combat than before. You gain Victory Points (VP)
by defeating enemies, then you can spend this points buying new
Robots and Pilots (otherwise they would be not really useful...).
You can also battle with a friend linking two Gameboy and this is
really fun. It is difficult to explain exactly this game, so I
suggest you to try it, you will like it!

Link to Nintendo 64:
------------------------
This Cartdrige supports the N64-transfer pak (which, for what I now,
is only sold with Pokčmon Stadium, and not stand-alone) to link with
Super Robot Wars 64 for Nu64 (incredible, no?). Linking you can have
benefits on the SRW64 game.
You can unlock these units:

Zambot 3
Goshogun
Gundam F91 (Seabook Anno)
Vina Gina (Cecilly Fairchild)

You may also gain some other bonuses.
I own a Nu64 and the game, but I cannot link to the GB because
I haven't the transfer pack. When I'll have one I'll try. So for
now I haven't many info on the link.

How to start:
------------------------
This game is pretty different from and the others, and has a starting
tutorial, all in japanese, so many of you may cannot understand how
to start. I'll guide you through the tutorial. In the title screen
you'll have only the start selection (later on there will be the load
selection too), so select. Let the writings go, you'll arrive to a menu,
press A twice and you'll see you got mail. Read it until the end (with
the A button), then come back through the menus using the B button.
Go to Link Battler (second option). You will be asked your name, then
the girl will answer your question about the game. If you don't care
(e.g. you don't understand japanese) or you don't need them (you have
this faq!) select the last and then the leftmost answer. Now you have
a two-choice menu. From here you can check your starting team pilots
(first choice) and units (second one).
By this far you have:

Rx-78 (Amuro Rey)
Mazinger Z (Koji Kabuto)
Dunbine (sorry I cannot remember)
GM (Mars)

Press B and you'll start the Tutorial fight. You'll be asked which team
use, confirm the first (and only) and go on. Select the order you wish
your robots to fight. Now this is a real fight, so check the Combat
section later on. After the combat ends (using Mazinger you shoul be able
to kill both your enemies, however you have other 3 robots) answer the
leftmost choice so you will arrive at your Home (see next chapter) and
the real game starts. Have Fun!

Menu Translations:
------------------------
When you start the game (or load it) you are in a 4-choice Menu named
HOME (it is written in the upper part of the screen). In the upper left
you can notice a number, it is the day of the tournament (really don't
matter too much). In the upper right there is a small letter, if it
blinks you have received new mail (do you want to read them?).
The four choiches:

System Menu
Check Menu
End the day
Go to Link Battler

*Sytem Menu choice guide you to a 3-choice menu:

Read Mail
Status
Save

*Read Mail allows you to check the mails of the day. There are
various types of communication. By now I recognized this
       types:
System communication: made by the tutorial girl, tells
you of incoming battle, rank advance, ecc.. Pretty
             unuseful.
Challenge communication: sometimes one of your previous
opponent will call you for another battle. You can
find him in the Free Fight section, he will be the
last of the list, after the A+ challenger.
Trade Communication: request for a trade. Usually they
             don't want robots but VP.
*Status show your name, how pilots and robot you have, your VP
       (Victory Points).
*Save: I think there are no needs to explain, no?

*Check Menu leads you to a 3 choice menu:

Encyclopedia
Change Pilots
Change Teams

*Encyclopedia lets you select if to see pilots or units, then you can
see pilot or robots you have.
*Change Pilots allows you to select which robot has to be piloted by
who. Every pilot can only pilot a few robots (someone only one).
*Change Teams: you can have up to three teams at once. Select the team
you wish to edit then have 4 choice: Add, Remove, Team Name,
Done. Every Robot has a number from 1 to 3 associated. The sum
of the numbers of all the robots in a team must not exceed 5.0
(in the upper left you can see how much remain). Note that you
can add in a team also a robot without a pilot, but, if you
don't assign a pilot to every robot you will not be able to use
        the team.

*Go to Link Battler: Moves you to the LB menu. Here it is:

Stats Menu
Fight Menu
Edit Menu
Home

*Stats Menu gives you access to a 3-choiche menu:

Calendar
Rankings
Tutorial

*Calendar is the calendar of the fights of your rank, distribuited
by the days. Pressing A on the circle you'll be able to see
who will be your opponent. The upper line is the regular
tournament. In the other line there are some circles too
(usually one per line). They are special event, elimination
tournaments open to every one. Unlike the regular fights
you may choose to not fight theese battle.
*Rankings is a report. For each rank from D to A+ here you will find
the reports of the tournament fights, who is winning etc..
*Tutorial gives two choices:
The first lets you ask to the tutorial girl some questions
about the game. The second lets you play again the tutorial
fight. From this fight you will not gain any VP, but you
still gain experience, so I suggest to fight it a couple
         of time at the beginning.

*Fight Menu: Again, another menu. This gives you 4 choiches:

Tourney Fight
Special Event
Free Fight
Back to LB

*Tourney Fight, if is the day you must fight, shows you a grid, in
which are reported current results of the tourney. Press A
and you will have your fight. You will gain Ranking and VPs
by winning. You must fight your battle, otherwise you will
not be able to advance day.
*Special Event: Theese are open tournament, with 8 challenger
(including you), based on the elimination system. You will
gain really a lot of VP by winning some matches. After you
win a match you can save, so you can redo your next battle.
*Free Fight: now you have two choiche. The first let you battle a
CPU opponent (usually you may select from a rapresentant
from each rank from D to A+). You will not gain rank,
but you will gain VPs. Second choice is the most fun of
the game: battle with a friend using a link cable!
*Back to LB: makes you to return to the LB menu.

*Edit Menu: What do you expect? A 3-choiche menu!

Buy
Weapons
Link Trade

*Buy lets you spend your VPs to buy pilots (first choiche)
or Robots (second one). When you buy pilots you can
select at which level to buy. The price will change,
obviously. The right price is the price indicated
multiplicated the level you wanna make it start.
You cannot buy pilots at levels higher than 30.
*Weapons: Some Robots have more than 4 weapons, but they can
only use up to 4 weapon in a fight. Here you can select
which weapons your robot have to use. Selected weapons
are marked with a red E on the left of the name.
Always check this menu when you buy a Robot, some
important weapons are not equipped by defult, such
        as Goshogun's Go-Flasher.
*Link Trade: Link up with a friend and trade your robot.
I cannot imagine why two friends shall trade robots,
        however, if you want....

Pilot Status Screen
------------------------

Robot Status Screen
------------------------

Combat:
------------------------
First you have to choose your team from the list, then confirm
it with the A button. Now you can choose the order your robots
must fight. Note you have to select the order also if you have
only one robot in the team. Both you and your opponent starts
with the first robot. When one of them blows up the other will
gain experience and the blown robot will be replaced by the
successive (if there is one) and the other will NOT be recharged.
When a team runs out of robots, it lose.
Now we enter the must important phase. SRWLB has a turn based
combat system. Let's explain how the turn works.
Now we analyze the screen:
In the upper part there is your Robot, on the left you can see
Hit Point (HP), which is the life of the robot, Energy (EN)
which is used to fire certain Weapon, Agility Point (AP),
variable from 1 to 6, and the armor. What stand agility points
for? These points determine how many "action" your robot can
do for turn. We'll return on later.
In the lower part part you can see your Pilot Spirit Point
(SP) which are used for the Techs (or Magic, as someone calls
them) and Morale (starting from 100, variable within 50 and
150). Morale is used for weapons (many of them have a
morale requirement).
In the screen there are also two menu: a little one (3 choice)
in the middle, and a bigger one (6-choice) in lower part.
The little is :

Select Action
View
Done

*Select Action gives you access to the bigger menu, which lets
you fill the bar on the right.
*View gives you the opportunity to check your opponent (first
choice) or the Vs screen with both teams (second
        choice).
*Done makes the combat start. You can select this only after
you have filled the right bar.

Bigger Menu represent the action you can choose from. They are:

Wait Attack
Dodge Special
Move Tech

Depending on the level of your char you may have or not have
all the options available. Wait order your robot yo do nothing
and it's free. All other actions costs 1 AP. When you run out
of AP you can do nothing but select to Wait until you fill
the right bar. You cannot accumulate Ap from turns. You may not
spend all your AP, but you will not be never able to use
unspent AP. You cannot do 2 actions a round. Only one a time.
Some actions will make your morale increase.

Move System:
You will notice there is a map you can move on, but there are
only 3 configuration on the map: Near (convergin arrows),
Medium (two squares), Far (Diverging arrows).
So you will be able to make only two type of movements:
Toward your opponent (left one), Backward (right one).
Some pilots will also gain the ability of doing long movements
(the one with a red arrow instead of the yellow one), which
allows to pass directly from Near to Far or from Far to Near.
A normal movement makes your morale up by 4. A long one
makes it up by 3.

Attack:
There many type of attack (depending on the level of the
pilot, of course), the first (up-left) is the most complete,
the others usually lack some weapons, but are useful to let
you attack twice or more per turn. When you start you should
have only one kind of attack. However, when you select the
attack you will be able to select the weapon. When you
highlight a weapon in the lower part of the screen you will
see a weapon description. Under the name of the weapon
there are three numbers:
Power :guess what is it?
Morale Required :may also be 0
Energy Required :may also be 0
If there is a number in the upper-right part of the weapon
description it is the number of shots you have. When it reachs
zero you cannot use the weapon anymore.
If there is a number in the lower-right part of the weapon
description it means that when you use the weapon your morale
will go down by that number.
As far as I know there is no way to recharge EN or shots.
Finally, all weapons has on the right a symbol which indicates
the distance it shoul be used. If you use the weapon at the
right distance, it will priduce maximun damage. You can use
it also at a distance a bit wrong (for example if it is
written Near you can use at Medium) but will produce a really
minimal damage. You cannot use at a distance completely wrong
(if it is written Near you cannot use it from Far).

Tech:
Magic, spells. Have variuos effect. They use Spirit Points
(indicated on the left). There is no way to refill SP. Maybe
in a future update you will find a complete tech list.
Maybe not.

Dodge:
Here there are all the abilities that allows you to prevent
or diminuish the damage. This abilities makes your morale go
up (the number depend from the abilities and from if it has
success or not).

Special:
Special Moves are not attack (as it could seem), but are thing
like Aim, Change (for Getter Robots), V-Max, ecc.. So they could
have particular effect. However the most of that as a side
effect make your morale grow up.

Finally:
When you have filled the right bar, select done from the little
menu and watch (you cannot sit and watch, you have to press A
sometimes or game will not go ahead). Now you will see what
your opponent choose and the result of each of the six rounds.
Remember this: Movement actions have precedence on the attack
actions. If two different movement are requested on the same
round will be performed the toward movement first.

The combat is really interesting because you have to plan 6
actions a time, so you have to guess what your opponent will
do to try to inflict to him maximum damage and to receive
minimum (e.g. if your opponent has only powerful long distance
weapons, maybe he will try to go back in the first rounds...).
