 2.0 ---===Introduction to WWF WrestleMania PSX===---

        WrestleMania the Arcade game is the first WWF Wrestling game
 that features digitized graphics with the real wrestlers. It's wrestlers
 include the top eight atheletes in the WWF as of early 1993, the time
 when the lineup was initially put together.

        WrestleMania Arcade's lack of characters (eight) is made up for
 by the amount of moves each one has. Midway, manufacturers of the
 Mortal Kombat series and based in Chicago, released the arcade version
 in July 1995 and sold the home translation license to Acclaim for
 the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Sega Genesis, IBM PC CD-ROM,
 Sega Genesis-32X, Sega Saturn, and the Sony PlayStation aka PSX.

        WWF WrestleMania has retained the reputation of Midway arcade-to-
 PSX games which was built by near mirrored Mortal Kombat 3. However, as
 in NBA Jam, most secrets have been altered from it's original such as
 WWF's VS screen codes from the arcade (ie. Buddy Mode).

 2.2 ---===Game Modes===---

    1-Player:
    - Intercontinental Championship
    Starts off with a few 1-on-1 matches followed by a set of 2-on-1
    matchups and ends off with a single 3-on-1 match. All best-of-3
    falls.

    - WWF World Championship
    The WWF World Championship begins with a set of (best-of-3 fall)
    2-on-1 matches then a pair of (best-of-3 fall) 3-on-1 matches and
    ends with the WWF World Championship Royal Rumble!
    See section 2.21 for details.

    2-players:
    - Head-to-Head
    The 2 players go at it in a best-of-3 fall matchup.

    - Cooperative
    This is a 2-player co-op adaptation of Midway's rendition of the
    WWF Royal Rumble. See Section 2.21 for details.

 2.21 ---===WWF RoyalRumble===---

  The Event...
 The Royal Rumble is the first WWF Pay-Per-View event of the year.
 Premiered in 1989, the Rumble is always around late January.
 The rules of the WWF Royal Rumble are that there are no Pins,
 Submissions, Count-Outs, or Disqualifications. With 30 participants
 and 1 coming per minute (2 prior to 1995) until all have come out
 and are eliminated, the last man left standing is declared the winner.
 Eliminations occur when a wrestler is thrown over the top rope
 and to the arena floor just as in a Battle Royal.

  Midway's Rendition...
 In WWF WrestleMania, you can play in a "Midway-adapted" Royal Rumble,
 1st it's the final match of the 1-player WWF World Championship mode
 and it's the 2-player cooperative mode. Both which show your 8
 opponent logo as "WrestleMania Challenge".

 The rules for the 1-player Championship Rumble are as follows...
 * 9 participants (1p vs 7 other plus yourself equals 9)
 * 1 player and 3 drones in the ring at a time
 * Eliminations occur when a wrestler's energy is drained
 * When either 1p survives or a drone pins 1p, a winner is declared
 * Winner receives the WWF World Championship title (as in 1992)
 * When outside of the ring, you have 10 counts to get back in
   or your energy will begin to drain until you do, works like
   a count out, you can go back out after returning in

 In a 2-player co-op Rumble, the 2 players team up to compete for
 the WWF Tag Team Championship and shares a single Combo meter and
 energy bar. The rules are as follows...
 * 10 participants (1p/2p vs all 8!)
 * 2 plaers team up against 2 drones at a time (4 in ring limit)
 * Eliminatios occur when a wrestler's energy is drained
 * When a drone is eliminated, another will come to take his place
   until all have come and have been eliminated
 * The Winners are declared when either 2 drones eliminate the players
   or the 2 players win the Rumble
 * The WWF Tag Team Championship title goes to the winners
 * When outside of the ring, you have 10 counts to get back in
   or your energy will begin to drain until you do, works like
   a count out, you can go back out after returning in... This
   effects both players simultaneously since you share a single
   energy bar

 2.3 ---===Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)===---

        Since that's what they call files like these, I guess this would
 be the main part of it...

 Q: Are there any Fatalities in the game?

 A: There were in the arcade, though only Undertaker's was confermed,
 however, they are either altered or removed as of the home versions.
 It's likely that all Fatalities are removed now, according to what
 people I know are saying.

 Q: Why aren't there any VS screen codes listed?

 A: Just as Fatalities, they are either removed or altered here.
 Don't be discouraged though, remember the fact that NBA Jam codes were
 all altered on the translation to home systems...

 Q: What is 2nd Wind?

 A: It allows you to regain conciousness even after being drained of
 energy. You receive 2nd Wind by tapping all the buttons psychotically
 while being pinned. Requirements are as follows...
 * You must have a full and flashing "COMBO" meter
 * You must be inside ring
 * You have to have previously lost 1 round (brink of elimination)

 Q: How do I execute a reversal?

 A: When being grabbed by your opponent, do a grab move to counter his,
 if you do it fast enough you will do your move instead.

 Q: What other system is WWF WrestleMania Arcade available for?

 A: Other than Sony PSX, it is now available for SuperNES, Genesis,
 IBM PC CD-ROM, Genesis-32X, and coming to Sega Saturn in Spring '96.

 2.4 ---===Basic Concepts===---
 This section is for beginners, explaining the basic concepts of
 WWF WrestleMania - Arcade (all versions).

 2.41 ---===Special Moves===---
 Most special moves in WWF WrestleMania are done in fighting game style,
 (ie. Mortal Kombat 3, Killer Instinct) Move executions here consist
 of one of the following possibilities...
 * Pad movement, attack button (ex. "F F PP" or "QCF P")
 * Hold a button for 3 seconds (ex. "(P)3sec.")
 * Tapping a button repeatedly (ex. "P repeatedly")

 Other possible executions are ones which do not occur in fighting games
 include...
 * Running and pressing a certain button (ex. "RUN, PP")
 * Climbing the corner and pressing a button (ex. "Any button on top ropes)
 * After grabbing your opponent or when he grabs you (listed under "GRAB...")

 Quadruple moves are moves which can be repeated up to 4 times by repeatedly
 tapping the last button in the move's execution. They can be recognized by
 the fact that they start with "Quad-" (ex. Razor Ramon's Quad-Slam).
 Certain repeatable moves aren't quad-moves since they repeat by the tap of
 a button that isn't the last button of the execution.
 ex. F F PK -K to repeat- would not be a quad move while
     F F PK -PK to repeat- would be.

 2.42 ---===Combos===---
 WWF WrestleMania has pre-programmed combos which are accessed through
 button combinations. The wrestler's Combo initiators are buttons
 that start off a combo when pressed after F F in grab.

 ex. If the Combo's Initiator is PowerKick, just grab as normal (F F PP)
 Then press F F PK to initialize the combo and tap PK repeatedly,
 Now continue to tap it followed by the next button listed in the
 notation and continue to move on until all have been tapped.
 The result should be the listed amount of hits.

 Combo notations show only the initiator followed by the combo's
 pre-programmed button sequence. The Initiator is shown in "{}"'s.

 Each wrestler has 2 combo initiators, I have listed one combo
 of each, the 1st being a "Killer Kombo" which is the wrestler's
 ultimate high-hit combo while the 2nd is the runner up.
 Mini-Combos are basically just parts of the Killer Kombos so
 I didn't list them here.

 2.43 ---===The Rules===---
 This is Midway's rendition of the WWF (just as NBA Jam was their
 rendition of the NBA), the new rules for best-of-3 fall matches
 are as follows...
 * To be declared the winner, you must drain the energy of your
   opponent(s) twice.
 * There are no submissions or disqualifications
 * When outside ring after a count of 10, your energy will begin
   to slowly drain away until you go back in or be eliminated
 * You may receive 2nd wind when you're being pinned for the 2nd
   time and your Combo meter is flashing

 2.5 ---===The Controls===---

 The controls can be altered in the options menu, but here is the
 default configuration...

 2.6 ---===Digitized Voice Samples===---
        Incredibly, unlike most CD-ROM based games, WWF WrestleMania
 doesn't store it's sound samples, music, etc. in audio CD format but
 as PC sound files in CD-ROM format. This causes the sounds to be
 loaded into the system's RAM (Random Access Memory) alot faster than
 if they were stored as audio-CD tracks. Ofcourse, this is also the
 reason why WrestleMania takes up an amazing total of 60MB of disc
 space, surpassing the size of programs such as Windows 95 and MK3!

        The speed of it's sound loading helps the play-by-play
 commentary of the game by Vince McMahon and Jerry "The King" Lawler.
 Plus the occasional comments by the wrestlers and sometimes even
 people in the crowd.

 This is a listing of the digitized voice samples in the game:

 Vince and Lawler's occasional match intro...
 "Hi, this is Vince McMahon..." "And me, Jerry 'the King' Lawler!"

 Vince McMahon...
 "Who will be the victor at WrestleMania? It's anybody's guess!"
 "I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that one!"
 "Somebody call security!"
 "That's gotta hurt!"
 "What skill!"
 "It's a total debacle!"
 "Not a good idea!"
 "Goodnight!"
 "Un-be-lievable!"
 "Whoa!!!!"
 "Can he get up in time?!"
 "High Risk Maneuver!"
 "Boomshakalaka!"
 "It's pandemonium in the ring!"
 "What a blow!"
 "WOW!!!!"
 "I can't watch that!"
 "A capacity crowd here tonight!"
 "This could be it..."
 "To the face!"
 "Can anyone stop him?!"
 "Shocking!"
 "Listen to the crowd!"
 "To the mid section!"
 "He's just gone berzerk!"
 "Wait a minute..."
 "Reversal!"
 "Here it comes..."
 "What a slam!"
 "Nicely done..."
 "Did you see that?!"
 "He can't do that!"
 "OH!!!!"
 "Into the ropes!"
 "And..."
 "What's this?!..."
 "Oh my goodness!"
 "You have to give credit to _____!"

 Jerry Lawler...
 "Lights Out!"
 "Not a good idea!"
 "What's he up to?!"
 "That could cost him the match!"
 "That was great!"
 "Get up, _____!"
 "What a ripoff!"
 "Oh, what a scam!"
 "What Speed!"
 "What Power!"
 "Back to the sandbox!"
 "Look at this..."
 "Awesome!"
 "What a move by _____!"
 "He got exactly what he deserved!"
 "I can't belive he pulled that off!"
 "What a moron!"
 "What morons!"

 Bret Hart
 "I don't think so!" (during fight)
 "Excellent!" (wins)

 Shawn Michaels
 "The wrestler of the 90's!" (wins)

 Doink
 "Put 'er here pal!" (preparing electrocution)

 Razor Ramon
 "Nobody -- messes -- with the -- Bad Guy!" (doing Quad-Slam)
 "You pick the right guy, chico!" (wins)

 BamBam Bigelow
 "Get outta my ring!!!!!" (throws opponent over top rope)
 "The Beast from the East!" (wins)

 *Note*: The wrestler's win comments are randomly said, however
         most of the comments they make at their opponents while
         doing a move is definate such as Razor's Quad Slam.

 the express consent of it's writer. You may, however, distribute it
 free of charge to any service on the internet as well as to friends
 and magazines as long as it is in whole and unaltered.

        I have been known to write FAQs that are basically lists of
 moves, in the past, this is the first FAQ by Reptile X that includes
 profiles, facts on the game, etc. since, unlike games I've done FAQs
 for in the past like the Mortal Kombat series, WWF WrestleMania just
 doesn't have alot of FAQs and files for it. So I've decided to do a
 complete full-FAQ for the game, including a special section called
 "The World Wrestling Federation" which tells facts of the actual WWF
 itself.

 3.1 ---===About Reptile X===---
            by (e):NOS

        "The Elusive Reptile X" has been writing and distributing FAQs
 for games such as the Mortal Kombat series for quite some time now.
 Back in 1992 when MK1 first came out and he was just known by various
 nicknames like Shadow-Blade, his interest in the Streetfighter series
 hit rock-bottom (and died a painful death) and he learned about the
 MK1 hidden character, Reptile, who was a combination of Sub-Zero and
 Scorpion.

        He started to use the nickname "Reptile", "Sub-Zero", and once
 "Reptile's Butt" on Prodigy. In an issue of EGM (Electronic Gaming
 Monthly), there was an article on the MK hidden character, entitled
 "The Elusive Reptile" with some screenshots of the clues.

        In June 1995, The X quit Prodigy and came to the CompuServe
 Information Services (CIS) and completed what was the 1st ever complete
 Mortal Kombat 3 FAQ and uploaded it to CompuServe's videogames forum.
 At that time, he was just known as "Reptile" and most likely, his FAQ
 was so rarely noticed, that other FAQ writers (who were at the time
 better known) probably had no idea of this FAQ's existance and
 discovered the identical info for themselves a while later. But X's was
 uploaded in the beginning of July 1995, a time where even Ratman was
 struggling to get all the moves and finishers for MK3.

        After getting noticed, the FAQ-writer realized that even though
 Reptile wasn't in MK3 and wasn't that popular as a nickname on the 'net,
 the name was being used by alot of CIS users which caused confusion in
 the forums. That was when the decision was made, with almost everything
 in existance using the letter "X" (32X, CD-X, X-Men, Sushi-X, Revolution X,
 Megaman X...) it was added to Reptile.

        "The Elusive One" now romes around online areas such as the
 USENET Newsgroups, World Wide Web and ftp sites, CompuServe forums, etc.
 If you're on CompuServe, you might be able to catch the X at an online
 session on one of the following CompuServe forums...
        * Videogames (GO VIDGAM)
        * Gaming Central (GO VIDPUB)
        * Showbiz Media Forum (GO SHOWBIZ)
        * Entertainment Drive Forum (GO EFORUM)
        * Sports Forum (GO FANS)

 [Note from editor: I am known as "(e):NOS" online and use Reptile's
  PC to log on and do editing on his FAQs now. I also add things to
  his FAQs like this note and the move descriptions in the listings.
  When I log on through his PC, I set the nickname to "(e):NOS LIVES"
  and browse around. I own every system that Reptile does except
  8-BIT NES and am a huge PSX fan. You can reach me by sending e-mail
  to Reptile X's mailbox and addressing the message to "(e):NOS".]

 I use the name of the button and not the PSX controller's symbols because
 the configuration is changeable and puting the symbols may confuse players
 who frequently customize the controls.

 The Initiator of a Combo is the first step to a killer kombo.
 Example. If the initiator is {PP}, you grab your opponent and press
 Forward Forward Power Punch to start it off.

 If the Combo notation looks like this, {PP} P K PK PP
 You will grab you opponent and press Forward Forward Power Punch,
 then repeatedly tap Power Punch a few more times, while the beginning of
 the Combo is being done by your wrestler as result of that, start
 repeatedly pressing Punch, as your wrestler begins the moves caused
 by the Punch button pressing, you will go onto Kick repeatedly,
 then the same for PowerKick, and ends off with Power Punch.

 4.2 ---===Basic Moves===---
 Here are the universal basic moves which can be used by all the
 wrestlers in the game...

 RUN: P+K
 You can follow up with an attack or bounce of the ropes with this.

 GRAB-UP: PP [at opp.'s head]
 This allows you to pick up a fallen opponent to continue the fight.
 When opponent is up after this, the wrestle who grabbed the opponent
 up will hold opponent in grab position... which is an advantage, though
 reversable thereafter.

 GRAB: F F PP
 This is the "key" to certain moves for a wrestler, moves following
 this up is considered a "High risk" manuver which is easily reversed
 by the opponent. All moves under the heading "GRAB..." in a wrestler's
 move list requires you to do this first. Grab moves are considered
 "High Risk" and are reversable when opponent executes one before
 grabber does.

 HIP TOSS: B B P
 The Hiptoss is one of the most commonly used universal moves in WWF
 WrestleMania. You can hold BLOCK while executing it to make it a
 "defensive yet easy to use" move.

 IRISH WHIP: B B PP
 Whip your opponent to the ropes with this and follow up with an
 offensive move.

 SHOVE: BL+P
 This will shove your opponent away from you.

 TAKEDOWN: B+PP [while opp. is running at you]
 A move which varies from wrestler-to-wrestler though same in execution.

 PUMP-UP: (BL) spin pad 720 degrees toward from opp.
 This will make you 4% stronger for the next 6 seconds.

 SPEED-UP: (BL) spin pad 720 degrees away from opp.
 This will make you fast for a period of time.

 UPPERCUT: D+PP [Close to opp.]
 Same concept as the MK series' uppercut move. Also works in grab.

 6.4 ---===World Wrestling Federation Rules===---
 The following are the rules for standard 1-fall matchups in the WWF...

 Singles...
 * When a wrestler's shoulders are both flat on the ground, the ref
   will start a count of 3, if reached, the inflicter is declared winner
 * When a wrestler has his/her opponent in a painful hold, the ref will
   ask for a submission, if answered yes, the hold executer will be
   declared the winner
 * When a wrestler is outside the ring, he must get back in before a
   count of 10 by the ref or his/her opponent will gain a victory by
   countout
 * When there is illegal use of objects inside the ring or there is
   interferance, the ref has the right to disqualify a wrestler
   (the one the interferance is helping in that case)
 * Choking or any somewhat life-threatening or dangerous hold is
