TeRRaTRoN '93 Presents: Stronghold Docs Typed By: Raistlin Packaged By: Death Adder How To Build Buildings: When you first start off, the only building you have is your castle or keep and some trees around it. To build more buildings, go to a clear space of land with some trees or rocks on it and click on the triangle icon next to one of the guys names. Then click on the end of the bar under the icon to call one of your followers to that space. Make sure the follower you want to call is on READY. If you have more then one follower already, then only click the bar half way to draw only one follower to that site. One follower must remain infront of your keep or castle or else it will start to wear out and will need repair. You must have a follower loyal to you on that space of land before you can build anything. When the follower arrives, bulid away. The best things to build in the start are plots and houses. The plots generate food and income and the houses provide shelter for your followers. Also, when some money starts flowing in, build a Marketplace. How To Obtain Money: In order to bulid buildings and such, you need money. The easist way to make some cash is to claim trees. It makes a small amount of cash but that is all you need to start out with. Then, later on, you can cut down the trees if you wish and get more money. Next, build plots. They make your empire money as well as producing food. Another way to make some cash is to mine out rocks and look for metals. To do this, move one of your followers to the spot of land where there are some rocks and click on them. You might find a vein of iron or some other metal if you are lucky. When you do find a vein of iron or gems, your people start to build a mine to excavate the metals or gems. Mining is one of the fastest ways to make cash. It is almost too easy. Iron mines can make 50 gold pieces per mine so excavate each and every rock you can find. There are different types of mines such as gold, iron and gems. Remember, the mine will run out so keep searching for a new one. How To Keep Your People Happy: If your popularity level drifts off into the basement, don't worry, all will be fine. The easist way to learn why your people are mad is to click the eye icon on one of your followers and read what is the matter. It is usually something to the tune of "No housing" or "We need more food". If this happens find a empty plot of land and build houses or plots of food on it. The people will love you in no time. How To Fight Off The Enemy: When and if the problem arises that a goblin or other monster's lair is discovered, you can send an army to take care of the problem. To do so, locate followers of each leader and view them by putting the pointer on them and it will turn into an eye. Then ready them by clicking on READY on the stats screen. Then when you have done this to about 8 people, goto the screen where you have discovered the monster lair and click on the triangle of the first leader and move the bar under the triangle so it fills up the whole bar. Then, do the same thing for the other leaders until all of your selected followers are moving to the screen you selected. Then wait until arrive and watch the fun. If you are successful, you can pillage some gold for the leaders or demolish the lair. Your leader will usually get a promotion for such a good deed to the land. Getting Ready For Winter: Winters are rough in this game. Production of food and money is lowered and your people must survive to see the spring. In order to do this, build food storage facilities such as a Granary whenever possible. This allows for the storage and distribution of food. Check each one of the leaders every so often to monitor their food supply. If it runs low, build more plots to produce food. The Map: There are 2 views of the map. There is an upclose view of the surrounding area of where you are and the world view. The upclose view is good to see what is around you and the world view is good for locating enemy forces. To see the world map, click on the arrow icon next to the window in the top right hand corner of the screen. Red blocks are the locations of the keeps or castles of the respective leaders. The white dots are buildings or plots or whatever. Blinking grey/white dots are friendly forces moving around. Black or red dots are enemy forces moving around usually by their lair or keep.
