Title: ShinjiDaigeki Action Rasetsu no Ken. Producer: Konami Genre: Action/Adventure By: Jeffrey Wong (Hiryukenshin@Hotmail.com) "ShinjiDaigeki Action Rasetsu no Ken" Is a new action game by Konami, best described as a mix between, Tenchu and Bushido Blade. "Rasetsu Sword" is one of the best games I have ever played, the only problem I have encountered with it is trying to translate all the japanese text to get the full story. So far I've managed to write the walkthroughs for each character, and have found out some of the secrets, but there are many more that I have yet to uncover. Version: 1.00 (1/6/99): My first FAQ ever!, tell me how you like it. There are more sections and additions I'd like to add as soon as I can find the time to do them. TABLE OF CONTENTS: 1.) SPECIAL MOVES: Special Moves are acquired by filling your "Yellow" bar to maximum, the bar increases after every enemy killed, Once the bar is full, you will receive a new Special Move and the bar will empty and start over again. Most single bladed swords have the same moves, but there are a couple swords, which have different moves that need to be earned. The names for the moves I list below are my own and not the official names. Kotaru's Single bladed Katanas: 1.) Circle Slash - Press right then left and "Square". (useful when surrounded) 2.) INVENTORY SCREEN: 1st Option: Description of items 2nd option: Use items (can only be used for herbs and special objects 3rd option: Equip items 4th option: Quit 9.) MAP SCREEN: The map is divided into Squares, each square represents an area, Lines that joins these squares represent a path that can be taken. Gray Squares: Areas that have not been visited. White Squares: Areas that have already been visited. As the game begins, you will see a cinema of our two characters as they enter the town, for a moment you will be able to take control of "Kotaru" and fight against two of the attackers, they are quite easy to dispatch. Once they are defeated, you will see the rest of the Cinema and be given a choice of which character you wish to use. Don't worry about the injury that "Kotaru" incurred as you were using him, it has been restored. For this walkthrough I have chosen to use "Kotaru" first, but it does not matter, it doesn't seem to change the story as far as I've seen. 10.) Kotaru's Walkthrough: 1st Day: You will find yourself on a deserted street, you won't be allowed to go into the town square yet, so head down into the next screen. An enemy will be walking up the street, be sure to draw your sword and dispatch him. Cross into the next screen. This time you will be faced by two blue Samurai, defeat them and keep on going down. Two more Samurais will face you in front of a Shinto Gate, crossing this threshold will place you on a residential street facing a lone samurai. The next screen up will have you face two Samurai, there will be a bag of "Green Herbs" on the floor and an alleyway to your left, kill the two Samurai, get the herbs and head into the alleyway. The next two screens will take you to a back gate which ends in front of your old friend's Dojo, enter the doorway and a Cinema will Start. Halfway through the Cinema, a flashback of your childhood will occur, giving you the opportunity to train with your friend. Try out your moves and reflexes here, don't worry, you won't get injured. When you've had enough, press "SELECT". The rest of the Cinema will pass and you will back out in front of the Dojo. Head back out into the alleyway and into the street. Draw you're sword and kill the two Samurai waiting for you, head up the street and collect the bag of "Green Herbs" in front of the Arched Gateway. Keep on going up and you will see another bag of "Green Herbs" hidden beside a flower. The flower is a Save point, walk to it and press the attack button to save if you want. Head back down to the Shinto gate and kill the single Samurai waiting for you. Once through the Shinto gate you will be faced by two Samurai, kill them and continue onwards. The street ahead will be deserted so keep going. A cut screen will show two Samurai racing towards you, kill them and the screen will change to a short cinema. After the cinema dispatch the two government agents. Another Cinema will start, and you will be faced by the Boss character for this stage. BOSS STRATEGY DAY ONE: Block and wait for the enemy to attack first. Counter attack and knock him flat with the 3-hit combo, while he is down walk around his body till you are behind him. Once he gets up fully just chop him in the back (not exactly honorable, but hey, it's just a game!). Occasionally he will slide forward in a sweeping attack, this is near to useless since he almost always misses, and you should be blocking when not attacking. He has one special move where he will charge his sword (you'll see a cut scene with him framed by the moon). He will strike lightning quick with a red sword strike, this cannot be blocked and is pretty hard to dodge, time it right and cut him as he glides forward. Once he is dead another Cinema will begin, and you will receive a new sword. Note: You will now be asked to save your game, if you want just point to one of the three slots and press "CIRCLE" twice, if not, just press "X" and then "Circle". 2nd Day: As the stage begins you will be treated to a cinema of "Kotaru" and "Hyaku" meeting in front of the Shrine in the center of town. After going your separate ways you will find yourself facing the shrine with 4 people milling about, talk to each one of them. (make sure your sword is not drawn, or you will cut them down), I'm not sure what the penalty is for killing the civilians, but I don't want to find out! You'll notice that your Life has been replenished, this will happen after every Boss fight, so don't full up on life unless you have to during the end of the fight. Press "SELECT" and choose the top option, you'll notice that you have a new sword in your inventory, choose the third option which is to "EQUIP" weapon, select the new sword and exit this screen. This sword has a long reach and is very powerful, but is extremely slow. Behind you is the gate from which you first entered town, in front of you is the Shrine with a flower "save" point inside. To your left is another portion of the town, which leads to your friend's Dojo. Head to you left and talk to the three civilians, the Shinto Gate which leads to your friend's Dojo is inaccessible right now, so head to your left. There is a single man here, talk to him as well. Head up and talk to the man and woman walking around, head left and talk to the four people in front of the Costume Shop (store with the Purple Noren, inaccessible right now) keep on going to exit the town square. Once you exit the square you will be on a deserted street, keep on going down and into the next screen. You will be faced by a single Samurai, kill him and head into the next screen, kill the two Samurai waiting for you and continue onwards, a single Samurai will face you, kill him and move on. Two more Samurai await you, kill them and go into the next screen. You'll find yourself at the base of the steps leading to a temple, two new enemies will run towards you, they carry long poles, and can easily catch your sword on the attack and trip you, leaving you open to their attacks. The best thing to do is to block and only counter-attack them. Try and maneuver so that you only face one at a time as they tend to gang up on you, making you attack one while the other attacks you. By now you should have received a message once your "Yellow" bar filled up, notifying you of the new Special move you earned. Press "START" and you will see the new move, it takes only one bar of magic, and is performed by pressing right, left, attack. After killing the two pole-men, head up the stairs and you will be greeted by a young woman. Save at the flower if you wish and head through the gateway. A cut scene will show two men blocking your path, it is very important that you not let your friend get killed, she will have a life bar of her own, try and stand between her and your enemies, making sure none get past you. After the fight, another cinema will take place, draw your sword and continue up the stairs. At the top, two men will face you, dispatch them and continue past the Tachigata stone lanterns, the next screen will have two men waiting for you, with a bag of "Green Herbs" on the floor. Turn immediately left into a courtyard with two men and a bag of "Red Herbs". Go into the doorway on your right to enter the house. You will find yourself in a weapons storage room, go up the left side and fight the two Ninjas, be careful, they can jump over you and cut you on the way down, the best way to counter this is to either block, or cut them in mid-air. They will also retreat sometimes and back into a corner, block and approach them as they will probably throw shurikens at you. After passing through the doorway, you will find yourself in a room with two more Samurai, kill them and approach the twinkling blue light in the corner of the room. It is a key you will need later on. Go to the balcony outside and face the two Ninjas waiting in ambush, head up the stairs and kill the lone Samurai guarding the doorway. Don't head into the room just yet, pass his corpse and head along the walkway, be careful not to run headfirst into the Samurai waiting at the corner, dispatch him quickly and continue onwards. There will be a Ninja waiting for you in the doorway of the room, kill him and step inside. You will be in a room containing a Statue and two pits of what appears to be Human remains, a cinema will begin, when it is finished, two Ninjas will drop from the ceiling and attack you. Make sure you draw your swords first and then kill them, once they are defeated take the second key from the base of the Statue and head out the back door. Go back to the balcony and head down the steps into a courtyard. Two Ninjas will leap off the walls and attack you. There is a bag containing an "Oyster pill" on the floor. Pick it up and move into the next screen. At the foot of the stairs to the shrine, you will see a cinema of the girl leaving you. Run up the stairs and fight the two men at the top. The girl's scream will take you into the next screen where two more men await you. Pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" on the short wall. And move on. Two men will attack you, kill them and move into the next screen, there is a "Save" flower here, I recommend saving as the next screen will take you to the Boss of this stage. BOSS STRATEGY DAY TWO: A cinema will introduce you to the Humongous Boss, As the fight begins, start running, the boss will try to do a belly flop on you, once he misses slice him up. Once he's down, circle him till you're behind and slice him as he rises. Be careful his attacks may seem stupid, especially the butt attack, but they take off a considerable amount of life, keep an eye on your life gauge and don't hesitate to use a herb or pill once your life bar reaches ¬. Try not to stand directly in front of him as he will pummel you with his fists. Once he is dead you will be treated to another Cinema. You will be given a new sword and asked if you would like to save. 3rd Day: Finding yourself at the bottom of a cave, press "SELECT" and equip your new weapon. This sword is shorter, has less reach. But maintains the same killing power, it is very fast. Draw your new sword and head into the next screen. A bone-chilling roar will greet you and the stage will begin, There is a fork in the road, head left, and pick up the bag of green herbs on the floor. Keep on going forward and the next screen will have yet another fork, with a zombie coming out of the left. Kill him, it is useless to block as he can hit you with his fists. The Zombies are quite hardy, and take multiple hits before they "die". If they collapse on the floor it is a good idea to cut them while they are down as they have a tendency to crawl forward and attack your leg. After dispatching the zombie, head into the left fork. You will be face by yet another Fork in the tunnel, kill the lone zombie here and choose the left one. You will be in a part of the tunnel seen from an overhead view. There will be a fork to the left and one to the right. A Sword zombie will appear, kill him and take the bag of green herbs from the floor, head into the left corridor, Cross the rope bridge, a zombie will be coming out of the right fork, kill him, pick up the bag of "oyster pills" on the floor and head right. The room has a ledge with a drop leading to your death, so tread carefully. A twinkling light will be at the edge of the precipice containing a miniature statue, go over and pick it up, a Zombie will drop from the ceiling and surprise you, kill him and exit the room. A Zombie should be coming off the rope bridge when you reach the next screen, kill him and continue to the left fork. This part is very tricky, there will be a precipice just like before, only this time, it slopes downward at the end and you will feel yourself sliding towards the edge. Put up you sword (so you won't swing it while picking up the statue), turn around to face the opening of the room, and let yourself slide backwards to the statue, try and maneuver yourself so you will walk right over it. Exert slight pressure on the D-pad to slow your movement backwards, and when you are right on top of the statue, pick it up and run out of there. Head back out to the bridge and fight the Zombie coming out of the right fork. Cross the bridge, kill the Zombie that appears and go down (the other fork leads to a closed gate with a Save point). Take the fork to your left. And you will be in a narrow corridor looking down, with a zombie approaching you. Kill him and cross into the next screen, there will be a fork, one leading down, and one going left, take the fork going down. Pick up the bag of green herbs and go back the way you came to the fork, this time go left. A zombie will surprise you, kill him and take the bag of "Oyster Pills" from the floor. Go north and into a little room with a square outcropping, press "square" to look at it. Go into your inventory screen and select the second option "to USE", and select one of the statues. A cut scene will show the statue being placed into position, do the same for the other statue and you will hear gears grinding. Exit the room, and fight the Zombie waiting for you. Cross over into the next screen and kill the zombie coming out of the left fork, pass him and go into the next screen. Go through the narrow passageway and kill the zombie coming out of the left fork. Go through the left fork and face the zombie in the "Y" shaped room, take the right fork. By now your "Yellow" bar should have filled to maximum and given you your new Special Move, simply hold down "Square" and when it is charged up, release it. This attack digs up the ground in front of you and takes two magic bars to perform. Save at the flower and go through the doorway into the Boss's chamber. BOSS STRATEGY DAY THREE: A cinema will show you an underground lake with a few desiccated corpses lying around. Kill the zombies that arise. The boss will appear after a short cinema, as the match begins, start running around, he will float in mid-air and attack a single spot, with either lighting, rocks, or a bolt of power, once he attacks a spot run behind him and cut him. He will disappear and reappear in a different location, repeat the procedure on him. Once his life is _ gone, he will start to fly around in a lazy pattern attacking on each pass. Move around and wait for him to float low enough, try to anticipate his pattern and cut him at it's lowest point. Press "Square" just before he floats into range, as it take a while to swing the sword. After he is defeated, there will be a loud rumbling and you will see a short cinema. A new sword will be given to you, it is fairly longer than the one you are using, a bit slower, but it has the ability to shock the enemies you cut, equip it if you want. The stage is not done yet, it seems that the cavern is collapsing and you have just 3 minutes to get out. You will find yourself in a room where the way forks wither left, right, or down. Take the path going down. You will see a short cinema of your old foe turning into a new creature. Just run from it for now, the room will be split in three forks just like the last, take the path going down, and head right at the next screen, this will take you to a dead-end room. Draw your sword and attack the flaming beast. Just run up the beast and corner it, continuously attack him, because if you let up, he will leap at you and take off quite a bit of damage. When he is almost dead, he will start circling you and attacking. Best to run behind and cut him on your downstroke. When the beast is destroyed you will exit through the hole in the roof and prompted to save. By the way, you'll also receive a new sword, this one is similar to the one you just got, except it engulfs your enemies in flame. 4th Day: Coming up out of the caverns, you will probably notice that you came up right underneath the shrine that was in the centre of town. Stepping outside you notice the villagers running and screaming in fear (if that wheezing is supposed to be shreiks). This is the best part of the game, drawing your sword, you will be surrounded by a horde of zombies, all are very simple to kill with just a single cut, but they will try and overwhelm you. Make sure you pick up the two bags containing "Oyster Pills" beside the shrine. There is a counter at the bottom of the screen that will display the amount of Zombies that you have killed, don't worry about the counter, just keep hacking away at the zombies that surround you. Halfway through the Zombies (100+) you should receive a new Special move. Just perform the 3-hit combo and as the sword descends for the head-splitter, tap "Square" 3 time fast to do a multiple cut that looks cool and uses 3 bars of Magic. The Zombies will keep coming until the music stops, somewhere around 245 and 299 (depending on how fast you killed them). After the hack-fest, you will find yourself facing the destroyed shrine. This is a perfect opportunity to explore the town as the streets are deserted (except for enemies) and pick up goodies on the way. You can even head back up to the temple where you will find LOADS of goodies waiting for you, but I won't get into that, This Walkthrough will only take you the most direct route. But try and explore and collect as many goodies as you can, you'll need them later on. Turn left from the town centre. You will see the Shinto gate leading to your friend's Dojo, walking through it will introduce you to a sinister looking man, talk to him, and go back out into the street. The reason for turning back is that, if you had gone to the Shinto gate in front of your friend's Dojo, the day would have ended, and you would have missed a big opportunity. Take the left pathway. Head up the street and into the next screen, from here you can go left as if you were heading back towards the temple. A cut scene will show you two ugly bastards attacking a store-keeper. Kill the creatures and owner will offer his thanks, enter the store. Now you can choose a new costume for Kotaru!, Just press right or left to change costumes and press "Circle" to choose a costume, you can come back here and change costumes anytime you wish. From here you can go back to the Temple and collect goodies or you can go back the way you came. Head back to the Shinto Gate and go through it, the streets should be deserted, so just run through them, at the fourth screen pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" and go through the Shinto Gateway. A screen will come up asking you if you would like to save, and you will be into the 5th Day, short wasn't it?.well, that's why you should have taken the time to collect more goodies when you had the chance.DOH! 5th Day: Draw your sword and run into the next screen, two very tough Swordsmen await you, kill them and ignore the alley (the back gate is locked), run upwards instead. The large Doors should now be open, go inside. Cross the courtyard into the doorway of the house and don't forget to pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" before entering. Once inside you will face one of those split-in-two Zombies, be very careful of him, because no only can he use his sword, but he can punch you just as well (cannot be blocked) kill him and continue onwards. In the next screen, be sure to pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" lying on the floor and enter the doorway. You will find yourself in a small room with two zombies and a door leading to another room. Kill them both but head left instead of outside. Pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" and head back to the next screen, exiting through the doors above. Kill the lone Zombie in this room and pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills", continue to the other half of the room and kill the zombie that was doing the dishes = ) Go through the open doorway into a small room with a doorway in front of you, go through and face the Zombie surprise. Kill him and step into the garden, fight the zombie outside and take the bag of "Oyster Pills". From here take the fork leading down. As you round the corner, another zombie will break through the Shoji doors.wait.didn't I kill this bugger before?.never mind, kill him again and get the door key from him. Keep on going down and you will see a pickling drum with a Save point beside it. Go inside the room. Take the sword on the Sword-rack and defend yourself against the two zombies that attack you. Equip the new sword if you wish, it is VERY fast, and fairly strong but with a short reach. Head to the next screen and face the lone Zombie, continue on into the garden and take the upper right fork. Go right along the corridor and you will be stopped by a closed door, go to your inventory screen and use the "key" you got from the zombie to open it. Inside you will meet your old "friend", he's apparently waiting for you. BOSS STRATEGY DAY FIVE: You have to remember that your old friend is an expert swordsman, and I bet that he kicked your butt in your childhood flashback right? Simply block and follow him around the room, do not attack as he will either block or trip you, leaving you open for an attack. Wait for him to attack, then counterattack, aim to drop him on the floor (stab him), and then go behind him. More often than not he will do a sliding attack with a blue sword flash, make him pass you and cut him in the back. Or do a double tap forward to do a jump-in-slash attack. When his life is down to _ he will charge up his sword and do an un-blockable sword strike. The best thing to do is corner him and continuously attack him to prevent him from charging. Once he has just a centimeter of life left, he will switch attacks and start to glide around you, waiting for you back to be turned before performing a Battou-jutsu attack. Just follow him around and trick him using your side and backwards attack. Once defeated a Cinema will start. Your character will take (STEAL) his sword at the end. And you will be prompted to save. By the way, this new sword's style is that of Iajutsu, which allows you to kill with one stroke. Blocking is not a major part of this sword art, but you can stop an enemy's attack by pressing attack at the same time he does, thus blocking his sword with your hilt. There is only one cut that can be used with this sword. And no jump attacks either, be careful using this sword, because if you miss, you'll have to wait till he re- sheathes the sword before being able to attack again. 6th Day: A cinema with both Hyaku and Kotaru will start the stage. After the cinema, you will find yourself back in front of the shrine. You can go back to the Dojo if you wish and pick up 3 bags containing, "Black Pills", "Oyster Pills" and "Green Herbs". The back gate should be open. From the shrine in the centre of town, go left, then up at the next screen. At the end of the street take the right pathway. You will meet some new enemies now, they carry long pikes and they are very good and blocking and tripping you, the best thing to do is to rush them as you see them, do not give them the chance to ready themselves. If they are prepared, then try and circle them to get a better position, and wait for them to attack first. Defeat the two pike-men and continue downwards, you will see a lone swordsman guarding a closed gate and a bag of "Oyster Pills", take them and continue. Face two more pike-men and continue to your right. Run down the long and narrow street and kill the lone enemy before going on towards the next screen. Two more pike-men are guarding a gateway at the end of the street, dispatch them and go through the gate. Finding yourself in the middle of a residential street, kill the zombie and move into the next screen. Two more swordsmen await in the next screen, with a bag of "Oyster Pills" on the floor. Destroy them and go into the next screen. A single zombie stands beside a well, kill him and move on. The next screen will show a deserted street in front of a Shinto gate, a House is beside the road with a white Shoji door, enter and talk to the sword-maker. What no extra sword?.working on it.can't figure out how to get it yet = ( Draw your sword, and head through the Shinto gate. Run up the curving slope into the next screen. A single Ninja will take you on as you walk the path, kill him and continue onwards. As you enter the next screen, another ninja will attack you, Kill him as well as continue. Only a bag of "Oyster Pills" await here, take it and go to the next screen. Two bat-like creatures will attack you on the downslope, be wary of them as they can fly out of reach and swoop down and squirt you with some green stuff, just slash at them and you should be fine. Head across the plank bridge to a screen with a waterfall and a save point, go into the rocky enclave above you. Pass the marker and into a screen with a forked path, once going left and the other going straight up, the left path does not concern you, so take the north path. Ahead you will see a statue with a forked path going around it, kill the bat and go right. Fight both the Ninja and the bat and take the bag of "Green Herbs" from the floor, keep going north. Another fork in the road will greet you, the left path only heads to the other path that the first path would have taken you, nothing interesting there, take the north path. Kill the two ninjas milling around the statue and continue to your left. A lone ninja will jump down from a rocky outcropping and attack you, kill and take the bag of "Green Herbs" from the floor. Continue into the next screen with a save point and an opening in the rock face, leave these for a moment and take the south pathway. Kill the bat and take the bag of "Red Herbs". Head back to the save point and save if you wish. No, it isn't a boss, just an extension of this stage, go through and run up the jungle path. The next screen will show a scene straight out of Tarzan!. This are does not concern you so pass it and go into the next screen. A large doorway with a path curving around it will appear, if you look on the map, you'll probably notice that it "should" be accessible, but not for you. Take the path around it and continue. Take the bag of "Green Herbs" and continue north, go down the slope of the next screen and you will start to hear the sounds of the sea. Run down the pathway, and out unto a view of the entire beach, run forward and pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" beside the pile of driftwood. Go left past the racks of fish, and down through the sandy slope. Pass between the two fishing boats and fight the Clawed ninja on the shore. Head right into a little alcove to pick up a bag of "Oyster Pills" and return to the beach. Fight the same clawed Ninja again and go right this time. Run along the shore past the next screen and pick up the bag of "Red Herbs" before heading into the rocky opening. Run downwards until you come to a plank bridge, cross it and fight the Ninja waiting for you among the rows of fish. Kill him and pass the fish into a screen where another ninja will jump out and attack you, dispatch him and go down the slope towards the shore. There will be a save point, but you won't need it yet. Go out unto the beach and collect the three bags of "Black Pills", go back the way you came. On your way up the slope from the beach, take the opportunity to save, and continue back the way you came. At the Beach-head where you first met the clawed Ninja you will face the boss (I almost forgot, you won't face this boss unless you meet him on the beginning of the 4th day). SPECIAL BOSS STRATEGY DAY SIX: This Boss uses two swords much like "Miyamoto Musashi", as such he usually circles you and attacks using both swords. Try and counterattack him, but beware of his charge up attack where he flashes his sword in red, as it is unblockable and will take off a considerable amount of life. The best strategy is to knock him down and circle behind him. Once his life is _ gone he will start sliding around more often and pulling off his slash attack. After he is defeated he will give you his two swords.Kakkoi!!. Equip these swords at once!, they are quite long, very fast, very powerful, not to mention the fact that they cover a greater range. They are just too cool. Once the Special Boss is defeated, then head back through the forest and residential are into the town, go to the North gate of the town and enter it. You will be attacked by some very strange creatures, they look like huge insects with long, sharp mandibles. Try and keep your distance as they can break through your block if you are too close to them, try and maneuver behind them. If you attack first they will probably trip you and slash you with their claws, be very careful around them. Fight the two creatures and head north to the next screen, fight these two as well and continue onwards. You will find yourself on a road leading to a large castle, Kill the two beasts that roam around, and head through the gates. Once you are under the gate, head left or right, it does not matter. You will be attacked by two ninjas at the next screen, defeat them and follow the road to the next screen. A bag of "Oyster Pills" are on the floor, but as you pick it up, two Ninjas will drop from the roof, kill the quickly and continue to the gateway up ahead. Save at the flower if you wish and continue throught the gateway. Two Samurai will be walking down the steps to attack you, kill them both and keep on going up the stairs. At the top of the stairs you will meet two more Samurai (twins of the first two?). Kill them and enter the heavy wooden doors to you right. Two more identical Samurai will greet you (two pairs of triplets?), kill them and go up the stone steps to the next screen. The SAME two Samurai await you here, kill them and head up the stairs and through the doorway. You will find yourself in a small leafy enclosure, head north into the next screen. And fight the two blue Samurai who block your path, once they are defeated, pass them into the next screen. Fight the two brown Samurai and go inside the nearly-hidden doorway up ahead. Once you enter the doorway into the castle, there will be a room where a lone Ninja will attack you. Kill him and run up the stairs to exit through the doorway on the ledge. In the next screen, two ninja will jump out of nowhere to attack you, after you have defeated them look on the sword rack on the wall, there is one bright sword there, take it. This sword is the Ninja Sword, it is very powerful, but it also takes off some of your life as you use it. I don't recommend equipping it here. Head down the corridor and fight the lone Ninja, cross into the next screen. Two Ninjas will appear, one right after the other, to attack you, kill them both and head into the room with the gold bars. Cross the room and into the next section. Three Ninjas will be waiting atop the bars of gold to pounce on you, run to the far side of the room and put your back up against it so none can get behind you. And destroy the three Ninjas (damn, I hated that movie). Once you've defeated the enemies, cross into the next stage and run to pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" before you. A ninja will materialize behind you, so get ready for him, kill him and take the upper corridor to the next screen. A Ninja among the rafters above will jump down to attack you, kill him and continue to the next screen, once there, go to your left and take the bag of "Oyster Pills" before ascending the stairs. At the top, there will be a musket rack beside you.anybody know how to get one of those?.Hehehe. Move away from the stairs and a large Samurai in Armor will face you, this guy is the toughest enemy you will face in the stages. Kill him and go up the hall and to the right. Use caution here, as the scene changes, stand perfectly still. If you move forward the Armored Samurai will also enter the room, causing you much grief, dispatch the Zombie swordsman first. Kill them both and continue onwards. Dismiss the fallen columns and move into the open doorway. You will face the same combination of Armour Samurai and Zombie here too. Find some way to kill the pesky Zombie first and focus on the Samurai after. Once they are both destroyed, continue to the next screen. In this hallway, a lone Samurai will face you, kill him and move into the next room. The next room is seen through and overhead view, kill the single samurai and move into the centre of the room, where two zombies will shuffle in. Kill them both and move on into the next room. There is a save point flower in a vase with a shelf containing a bag of "Oyster Pills" and "Black Pills", Take both and save here. Cross into the next room and kill the combination of one Samurai and two Zombies, after they are defeated, go into the adjacent room. This next room contains both a samurai and a zombie, kill them and go into the room ahead. At the foot of the stairs, pick up the bag of "Black Pills", and move forward. A cinema will introduce the Mid-Boss MID-BOSS STRATEGY DAY SIX: Unless you have the Double-Sword, the best sword to use is the Ninja Sword. The enemy will use his long pike to attack you, try and wait for him to attack and then counter-attack, don't wait too long though, or he will start healing himself. Once his is half empty he will start healing himself on a regular basis, so keep up the attack until he is dead. Once defeated, a Cinema will start showing Hyaku just catching up to you. But the game is not over yet, you will be shown the ending credits and as soon as it is over, it willl prompt you to save your games, you will probably notice that the save slot will change colour. Now you will have to continue playing (using that same save slot) as Hyaku, and perform her half of the mission, where you two meet up in the castle. Only then will you get the real ending. 11.) Hyaku's Walkthrough: 1st Day: "Hyaku" will start her day on the road from the front gate into town, walk forward to enter the Shrine area and talk to all the civilians. Head right and talk to the single man walking around, there should be a bag of "Green Herbs" on the floor, pick it up and continue towards the right. Talk to the four people you find, the lady in the brown Kimono has something interesting to say. At the top of the street take a right turn, A cinema should start taking "Hyaku" on a flashback of her childhood, you will get to train with her older brother for a while, Press "SELECT" when you've had enough. After the Cinema ends, continue down the street. Two blue samurai will attack you, draw your sword and dispatch them, there should also be a bag of "Arrows" on the floor. Head into the next screen and kill the two samurai that await you, a bag of "Green Herbs" are on the floor, pick them up and continue onwards. Two more Samurai should be blocking the alleyway, kill them both and cross into the next screen. A lone Samurai will be guarding the entranceway to the alley, kill him and go through. There will be two Samurai on this street, dispatch them and run onwards. In the next screen there will be a single samurai waiting, kill him and pick up the bag of "Spiked Balls" on the floor, keep on going. A Cinema will start and you will be forced to defend yourself against the boss. BOSS STRATEGY DAY ONE: At the beginning of the battle, you will see two Samurai, one in black and the other in green, Keep your eye on the Samurai in the Black Kimono, he is the boss and has a separate life meter. Try and focus your attack on only the boss, the other samurai are just fodder to keep you busy, as one goes down, he will raise his hand and signal another in his place. Get behind the boss and kill him as quickly as you can. He's actually a piece of cake, he seldom attacks and relies solely on the other samurai to kill you. Once the boss is defeated, kill any remaining samurai left standing (there can only be two at a time). You will get a message stating that you have received an "Origami Crane" (I don't know what this does yet, thought there are two more pieces to collect) and the cinema will continue, after which, you will be prompted to save. 2nd Day: A short cinema will show "Kotaru" and "Hyaku" meeting in front of the shrine. By now your "Yellow" bar should have filled up giving you a special move, you'll get the message either during the Boss fight or as soon as day 2 starts. Press "START" to view the move. You will find yourself on the road to the right of the Shrine, head left into the town square and down the road that leads to the entrance of town. Run along the deserted street into the next screen. There will be bag of "Green Herbs" lying on the road, there is a house directly behind you, with a white, partly-damaged, Shoji door, enter it. Inside you'll have the opportunity to search around, after you have thoroughly searched the room, step outside, and you will be confronted by the inhabitant of the house, The boss of day 2. BOSS STRATEGY DAY TWO: Hey, isn't this the same guy that "Kotaru" rescued on his first day?.Hmm.seems like it was "Hyaku" who messed him up!. A cinema will start introducing you to Mr. Basket-head, I wished he hadn't taken it off.he looked so much better with it on!. He's actually quite easy, all he will do is whirl his staff around and try to attack you. Block his attacks and counterattack at the closest opportunity, in no time at all he should be dead. If you'd like to stay far away from him, just throw "Arrows" and "Spiked Balls".You will receive a new sword, then be prompted to Save your game. 3rd Day: As the 3rd day starts, you will find yourself on the same road leading to the first Boss you defeated, head down into the next screen. You might also want to consider equipping your new sword. It is just slightly more powerful and just a little bit faster, but nothing really special. In the next screen you will be attacked by a lone Ninja, kill him and pick up the bag of "Green Herbs" off the floor, keep on going to the next screen. This time you will be faced by two black ninjas, be careful, they like to back into corners and shoot arrows at you. Before you cross into the next screen, pick up the bag of "Arrows". A single Ninja will greet you in this alleyway, dispatch him quickly and run towards the next screen. Two black Ninjas guard the entranceway into the alley, kill them both and enter. Kill the two Ninjas that attack you and continue onwards. Dispatch the two Ninjas that appear and pick up the bag of "Green Herbs" before heading into the next screen. Two brown Ninjas will be your only enemies here, kill them and pick up the bag of new weapons from the floor. When this weapon makes contact with an enemy, and other enemies close by will take partial damage as well, useful for dropping multiple attackers. Cross into the next screen and pass under the Shinto gate to enter the forest. Under the mini-shrine be sure to pick up a bag of another new weapon, this time it is a bomb, throw them at your enemies to knock them off their feet. Continue on to the next screen. A short Cinema will show a lone Ninja rushing to attack you, Kill him and move on. The next screen should be deserted and so should the next, with the exception of a bag of "Red Herbs" on the tree stump, pick it up and continue onwards. A single Ninja will block your path across the plank bridge, kill him and cross over. The next screen will show a waterfall in the background, with a Save flower in front of you, go under the rock outcropping to advance to the next screen. A bag of "Green Herbs" will be the only thing you see, take them and continue onwards. There is a fork in the road, one path to the left will take you inside a Shrine, but you don't have everything you'll need yet, so take the North path. Three female Ninjas will try and protect the statue in front of you, kill them all and take the key from the base of the statue. Ignore the left fork and take the right path instead into the next screen. Kill the two female Ninjas that try to attack you and continue onwards. A single Ninja will hop down and attack you, kill her and take the bag of "Red Herbs" before choosing the right fork. Only two Ninjas will be protecting the statue here, kill them and take the key, Then go left. Two ninjas await you here, kill them and retrieve the bag of "Oyster Pills" from under the bush. The next screen will show a Save flower with a fork in the road, one leading off to the right and the other underneath the rock face, take the Right pathway leading down. Three Ninjas will try and stop you here, kill them and take the bag of "Oyster Pills" from the floor before taking the little almost-hidden pathway that angles to the right. Only two Ninjas will be guarding the last key here, Dispatch them quickly and take the key, take either pathway and return to the little Shrine. Once inside the Shrine you will see a bag of "Bombs" take them, and take the bunch of keys from the base of the Buddha statue. The doors behind you should close automatically, Press "SELECT" to go to your options screen. Select the second option "to USE", and highlight the "SINGLE" key with the number "3" beside it. Use these keys to replace the ones you just took and the door should open. Head back outside take the path going North. Take the right Fork this time and continue upwards, past the next screen. Save the game, and head into the opening of the rock face. In the next screen, be sure to take the bag of "Oyster Pills" from the tree stump beside you and continue onwards. A short Cinema will introduce you to a Mid-Boss. BOSS STRATEGY DAY THREE: This amazon woman likes to leap about, especially unto the bamboo platforms in the background, you can jump up and follow her, but it is best to wait on the ground. The Boss will charge up and shoot multiple arrows at you, just block and you should be fine. There are times when she will float directly above you and do a diving attack with her feet first. As you see her prepare for this move, run out from under her as it is unblockable. Anytime she is low enough to cut or on the ground, do not hesitate to attack her as she has no close-up attacks. As her life reaches ¬, she will stake out a spot and continue shooting her arrows at you, just chase her around till she is cornered and kill her, easy huh?. Well, actually, that was only her first form, after she is defeated she will turn into a vicious looking harpy. Her attacks are basically the same as before, with the exception of an added kick ability and slightly-homing arrows. When her life is half-gone, she will start to slide around your attacks and attack you from behind, the best thing to do is attack her while she is charging her attack and vulnerable. After the Mid-Boss is defeated, cross the stage and head left. There should be a large wooden door in front of you, inspect it and go into your "Inventory" screen and use the bunch of keys that you took from the shrine. You will find yourself inside the room with a corpse, after the short cinema, take the Origami piece in front of the corpse and the bag of "Bombs" behind him, an exit the room. There is a hidden pathway behind the door outside, take it. In the next screen, head down the narrow pathway until you change screens and take the bag of "Oyster Pills" waiting for you. Continue onwards and you will be prompted to save your game. 4th Day: Head down the rocky slope to the next screen and pick up the bag of "Red Herbs" before continuing onwards. A short Cinema will show you a panoramic view of the shore and the beached ship. Take the bag of "Green Herbs" directly to your left and continue onwards. Draw your sword and defend yourself against the two Ninjas that surprise you, don't forget to pick up the bag of "Green Herbs" before continuing past the racks of fish. Fight the lone Ninja that jumps out from the bushes and take the bag of "Arrows" lying in the sand. Run down the narrow path to the beach, and pick up the bag of "Smoke Bombs" between the boats. These bombs will cause a group of enemies to attack each other, useful for thick and heavy fighting. Pass between the boats and out unto the beach-head, once the screen changes, Block instantly. Two clawed Ninjas will slide out in front of you and a third will pop out behind you and attack, deal with him first and kill the rest before heading right. There will be a bag of "Oyster Pills" on the floor, take them and go left, back unto the beach-head. Keep on going left and kill the two ninjas that block your path, after defeating them, continue on to the next screen. In the next screen a bag of "Explosive Darts" should be waiting for you, take them and run up the rocky slope. A single Ninja will jump out and attack you here, kill him and take the bag of "Throwing Discs" from the floor and head into the next screen. Two clawed ninjas await you, kill them both and retrieve the bag of "Green Herbs" from the floor, cross the plank bridge when you are done. Run across the bridge as fast as possible and drop the clawed ninja before the other jumps down behind you, while the first is down, turn around and drop the new- comer before the first Ninja gets back up, and then deal with him. When both Ninjas are dead, cross over the bridge into the next screen. Kill the lone Ninja that appears and head north, two more Ninjas will stalk out towards you, dispatch them before picking up the bag of "Oyster Pills", and continuing left past the rows of fish. Two Ninjas will jump out and attack you here, kill them quickly and go down the path to the beach, by now you should have received a new Special Move. Make sure you save at the flower as the bosses here are VERY hard. BOSS STRATEGY DAY FOUR: A cinema will introduce two of the main Bosses of the game, inspecting the damaged ship (is it just me or does this all seem too much like "Ninja Scroll"?, a wandering swordsman, a female government Ninja, a wrecked boat, demons?). The bosses will leave you to fight three wikid creatures. As the fight begins immediately throw a "Stun Bomb" this should leave them reeling for a second, long enough for you to take off at least ¬ life off of each. From here on in the fight dirty, surrounding you and attacking on all sides. Back into a corner and try to fight them one by one. The creatures love to disappear in a cloud of smoke and pop out again where you least expect them, or jump into the air and land on you claws first, be ready. Keep a close eye on your health meter, since they can kill you very quickly. Chances are you'll die in your first encounter, just try again and you'll get the hang of it. After defeating the bosses, you will see a short cinema of a mysterious person, after he runs away you will be left on the beach- head. Take the bag of "3 Black pills" before leaving, Save your game at the flower before leaving. No enemy will attack you as you make your way back to the first beach. Once you've reached the beach, you will see the man waiting for you, turns out he's your long lost brother, too bad you have to kill him. SPECIAL BOSS STRATEGY "HYAKU'S" BROTHER: At the beginning of the fight, the Boss will run across the sand, follow him, stop just short of him before he jumps over your head and behind you, if you try to attack him, he will glide in an arc positioning himself behind you again. Turn around and block his glowing Ninja stars and attack him as he runs again. Beware he only takes three hits maximum before swooping behind you for a massive chop. Be careful also of his Ninja stars, even though they move slow, they have a way of turning around, like a boomerang, on top of which, is the fact that they are poisonous. There are times when he will charge himself up, if you attack him during his charge, you will get shocked, try and position yourself slightly below his right side as he will swoop out in an arcing cut, which takes off a lot of life. After you have defeated "Hyaku's" brother, you will see a short cinema and receive a new sword and the second piece of the wooden plaque (it restores life I think). You will be prompted to save at this point. The day ends. 5th Day At the beginning of the 5th day, you will see a cinema of "Hyaku" walking into the centre of town, right in front of the Shrine. This is the start of the Zombie hack-fest, go into your inventory screen and select the new sword. The new Sword is pretty short, but makes up for that in speed and has the ability to electrocute your enemies. Make sure you pick up the bags containing "Oyster Pills" and "Black Pills" beside the shrine. After the zombies are defeated, a Short cinema will be a surprise attack by the boss. BOSS STRATEGY DAY FIVE: The bosses are two worms, and they are very simple to kill, just keep attacking their heads, at about half life they will start burrowing underground and coming up beneath you, this and the ability to lash you with their tongues are the only attacks they have. Once they are destroyed you will get a new Sword 6th Day: A cinema of "Hyaku" and "Kotaru" meeting beside the destroyed shrine will start the day off. Once the Cinema is finished, you will find yourself on the road to the right of the shrine, head left to the shrine and pick up the glittering object on the floor. This should be a pair of glasses. From here on in you are free to explore the town as you wish, even going back to the last stage to pick up goodies on the way. go left past the shrine and take the road leading North, at the end of the street take a left turn and you will find yourself outside of the costume-maker's shop. Enter the store and you will be able to change costumes. Once outside again, continue onwards up the street to the next screen. This might be a good time to equip and draw your new sword. The sword is slightly slower than the last one, but is very powerful. Draw your sword and kill the lone Zombie Swordsman there before going on to the next screen. Another Zombie will walk forward to greet you, kill him as well and keep on going. Once on the next screen two Pike-men will surround you, rush one of them and kill them before they can ready themselves. Cross into the next screen, and run forward to fight two more Pike-men. After they are killed continue on the road north. A single zombie should be guarding the steps to the temple, kill him and run up the steps. Pass through the gates and pick up the two bags of "Black Pills", there is a third bag of "Oyster Pills" hidden in the alcove right underneath the flag. Take them all and continue up the stairs. At the top you will on a road flanked by Stone Tachigata lanterns, one will have no paper screen, inspect it and take the third Origami piece. This was the main reason I came here, but there are several bags of goodies inside and around the temple. Take the time to find them all and return the way you came to the Shrine in the centre of town. Just before you return to the Shrine, you also might want to explore the Dojo, there are a few goodies there for you to collect too. Once you are finished stocking up on supplies, take the road right from the Shrine in the Center of town Follow the road north and take the right path at the end of the street.. Kill the two Zombie swordsmen that attack you, and continue down the road. Kill the Zombie and the Pike-man as they walk forward and pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" and continue onwards. Two more Pike-men will attack you, take care in killing them and retrieve the bag of "Oyster pills" before continuing. A samurai and a pike-man will try to block your way here, kill them and move on. The next screen has the same two enemies blocking the gateway into the alley, kill them both and enter. Rush forward and dispatch the two Pike-men before they can ready themselves and hurry onwards. A lone zombie will try to stop you from taking the bag of "Oyster Pills" on the ground, destroy him, take the pills, and run on to the next screen. Kill the two Pike-men that await and continue down the road. Beside the Shinto gate there will be a house with a Shoji door imprinted with a large Kanji character, enter the house. The house belongs to a Master Swords-maker and he will give you a brand new sword. Once outside again, equip the new sword. The new sword is very fast and very powerful. From here you can go back to the beach and pick up some more goodies or you can go back to the shrine in the center of town. Once the Shoji Doors close (signaling the end to an Area), you will be on a street that either leads down or across, go across to the next street. Here you will see a rickety old gate on your right which leads to the castle, go through it. Fight the green sickle-horned beast and continue up the street. Another beast just like it will be waiting for you, kill him and keep on going. This time a red monster will face you, kill him quickly by going behind him and slashing him, or use your throwing weapons. The next screen which is the road leading to the gates of the castle will be guarded by a lone beast, he is kinda tricky, kill him and run up the road towards the gate. Cross the bridge and enter the gates. Two Kabuki-type pike-men will try and stop you, they are very difficult to kill, take your time and kill them both before either moving forward. Two more pike-men await you inside, dispatch them with as much care as you did the first two and move on. A bag of "Oyster Pills" lie on the floor, take them and run forward to the next screen. Save at the flower. You may notice that the Castle gates are closed, head a little to the right and down from the gates. You will find yourself in a little alcove with Stones sticking out of the wall. Jump on the stones to gain access to the top of the wall. Once on top of the wall, head left to the next screen. Jump unto the roof and take the bag of "Oyster Pills" before continuing to your left, two Ninjas will attack you here, dispose of them and head up over the peak of the roof. Once on the other side, fight the two Ninjas racing towards you and pick up the bag of "Oyster Pills" before crossing unto the narrow wall. Ahead of you will be a Single Ninja kill him before hurrying onwards. As the scene changes, you will be attacked by two Ninjas kill them and hop unto the roof and past the right side. Fight two more Ninjas on the rooftop and continue. Cross the empty expanse of roof and into the next screen where you will face a clawed Ninja and a bat, take the bag of "Stun Bombs" before going left to the next screen. Another bat and ninja will attack you here, kill them and run up the roof tiles. Once at the top, pick up the bag of "Throwing Discs" and prepare for a surprise attack by a ninja. The next screen will it you up against another bat and ninja, kill them and hop up unto the roof taking the bag of "Black Pills" with you. Climbing higher up into the next screen you will be attacked by a single Ninja jumping down. Kill him and continue up the roof. On the balcony you will see a Save flower, take the opportunity to save before going through the doors to meet the Second-to-last Boss. BOSS STRATEGY DAY SIX: Once inside you will meet up with "Kotaru" just after he killed the Boss, but the boss will arise and transform himself into a horrible creature. Since "Kotaru" had first shot at him, it's your turn. The situation would be different if you had started the game with "Hyaku" first of course. Armed with many hands and just as many weapons, the boss will use this to his advantage and strike with them, he also has the ability to charge fire above his head and attack you. Cut him while he is charging so that he cannot initiate his special attack. Another attack of his is to spin around you slashing with all his weapons. Overall he is very easy to defeat, just concentrate on cornering him and chopping him up. FINAL DAY: Once the boss has been defeated, a set of stairs appears, leading up to the roof. And you are prompted to save, this marks the final day of your journey. A cinema introduces the Final boss, man is he ugly. After he transforms into a reject from Resident Evil 2, you will have the opportunity to choose which character will fight him and see that character's ending. The top option is to choose "Kotaru" and the bottom option is to choose "Hyaku". Choose any one you like, you will have the opportunity to come back again to see the other's ending. A second screen will appear to confirm your choice of characters, press "CIRCLE" to confirm. Now the chosen character will step forward and the other will back off. The first attack the boss will use is to shoot a laser at your feet, which will cut you and cause the ground to erupt in flames. Swinging his two claws back and forth to hit you, he will also utilize his two smaller claws to knock your sword aside, be careful. Stay in front of him and keep on attacking, soon his claws will drop off one after the other, forcing him to use a sliding attack with his two smaller claws. The boss also has a special move that I have never seen him complete yet, I always cut him up before remembering to give him a chance so that I could see what it was.DOH!!..after the boss's life is completely drained, he will stand perfectly still waiting for the final blow. Just hit him and he will blow up.Game Over, sit back and watch the ending movie for the Character you chose, at the end of the credits, you will be asked to save and the game will start over, try reversing the roles to get the full story. Once you start over again, you will retain all you weapons, special moves and items.cool neh? If you finish the game a second and third time around the colors of the save slot will change, but no more after this, I have still yet to learn why this is, or what is so special about them, oh well, that is for another revision of the FAQ. If anybody out there has information I've missed, especially the whereabouts of the rest of the swords and the meaning of the Origami crane pieces, I would sure appreciate it if you contacted me and I will place your name in the FAQ as a contributor.
