dshort@st1.wou.edu 5/24/99 ********************** * Secret of Evermore * * Shopping Guide * ********************** I recently played through Secret of Evermore and found myself constantly needing to know 3 things which were not readily available in the guides I could find. So I thought I'd put these things together for quick reference. They are: I. Exactly What to Buy in Nobila II. Bargain Hunting (where to find the cheapest ingrediants) III. Ingrediant Requirements (necessary ingrediants for each spell) ====================================================================== I. *Exactly What to Buy in Nobila* ====================================================================== Here's what I'll do: I'll tell you exactly what you need to buy so you can get everything you should in Nobila and later, Gothica. NOTE: I highly suggest that you get your spice and rice free from the invisible whirlpool outside Nobila. It's just to the left of the Nobila entrance. It should be right below the large rock. You know you're in it when you start spinning around. Keep spinning until you go underground and get 99 spice and 99 rice. You'll need to eventually do it twice because you're gonna need a lot of spice. From the Whirlpool get these: 150 spice 99 rice (you'll actually only need about half this amount) ---------------------------- |Buy These Things in Nobila| ---------------------------- Buy these things: 19 Beads 8 Perfume 1 Spoon 3 Gold Jackal 4 Tapestry 2 Limestone Tablet 4 Jeweled Scarab 5 Chickens So that you can get: 1 Jade Disk 1 Sun Stone 1 Moxa Stick 1 Silver Sheath 1 Ruby Heart 1 Bronze Gauntlet 1 Obsidian Helm 1 Stone Vest 1 Centurian Helm Tiny to throw the stone (need a Mud Pepper) ------------------------------- |Items You'll Need for Gothica| ------------------------------- Sometime before leaving Antiqua you should also buy these: 1 Jeweled Scarab 1 Golden Jackal 20 Perfumes 18 Beads So that you can later get: 1 Oracle Bone 1 Thug's Cloak 1 Insect Incense 1 Chocobo Egg ====================================================================== II. *Bargain Hunting* ====================================================================== This section is for finding out where the best price for each ingredient is. You can compare, for example, how much an ingredient costs in Prehistorica to how much it -should- cost in, say, Gothica. Terminology: * marks the lowest price in the game for that item. ++ indicates that the price is the best, but is only temporary Keep in mind that: 1 Talon=1/2 Jewel 1 Jewel =2 Talons =1/4 Gold =1/2 Gold =2 Credits =4 Credits 1 Gold =4 Talons 1 Credit=1/2 Talon =2 Jewels =1/4 Jewel =8 Credits =1/8 Gold -------------- |Prehistorica| -------------- {Man in Bugmuck Cave} Water 30 TALONS 15 Jewels 7.5 Gold 60 Credits *CRYSTAL 60 - 30 - 15 - 120 - *WAX 80 - 40 - 20 - 160 - *OIL 60 - 30 - 15 - 120 - {Acid Rain Spell Man} *CLAY 30 TALONS 15 Jewels 7.5 Gold 60 Credits *WATER 20 - 10 - 5 - 40 - *ASH 50 - 25 - 12.5 - 100 - *WAX 80 - 40 - 20 - 160 - *CRYSTAL 60 - 30 - 15 - 120 - {Man at Top of Volcano} (temporary) ++WAX 50 TALONS 25 Jewels 12.5 Gold 100 Credits ++CLAY 30 - 15 - 7.5 - 60 - ++ASH 50 - 25 - 12.5 - 100 - Water 40 - 20 - 10 - 80 - {Strong Heart} (after Gothica) Water 40 TALONS 20 Jewels 10 Gold 80 Credits Wax 100 - 50 - 25 - 200 - Oil 80 - 40 - 20 - 160 - *ROOT 50 - 25 - 12.5 - 100 - *VINEGAR 90 - 45 - 22.5 - 180 - {Strong Heart} (before Gothica) Water 30 TALONS 15 Jewels 7.5 Gold 60 Credits Oil 60 - 30 - 15 - 120 - Root 60 - 30 - 15 - 120 - ++WAX 80 - 40 - 20 - 160 - {Strong Heart's Brother} Ash 60 TALONS 30 Jewels 15 Gold 120 Credits Water 60 - 30 - 15 - 120 - Wax 120 - 60 - 30 - 240 - Oil 100 - 50 - 25 - 200 - Crystal 80 - 40 - 20 - 160 - --------- |Antiqua| --------- {Blimp} Ash 120 Talons 60 JEWELS 30 Gold 240 Credits Oil 120 - 60 - 30 - 240 - Wax 120 - 60 - 30 - 240 - Crystal 160 - 80 - 40 - 320 - Water 80 - 40 - 20 - 160 - *BONE 240 - 120 - 60 - 480 - *MUD PEPPER 600 - 300 - 150 - 1200 - *LIME STONE 240 - 120 - 60 - 480 - {Drain Spell Man} Wax 200 Talons 100 JEWELS 50 Gold 400 Credits Water 100 - 50 - 25 - 200 - Root 120 - 60 - 30 - 240 - Ethonol 200 - 100 - 50 - 400 - {Horace's Assistant} (temporary) ++BRIMSTONE 360 Talons 180 JEWELS 90 Gold 720 Credits Root 100 - 50 - 25 - 200 - Vinegar 200 - 100 - 50 - 400 - Wax 100 - 50 - 25 - 200 - Oil 120 - 60 - 30 - 240 - Ash 120 - 60 - 30 - 240 - --------- |Gothica| --------- {Man Under Chessboard} *GREASE 320 Talons 160 Jewels 80 GOLD 640 Credits Iron 600 - 300 - 150 - 1200 - Wax 400 - 200 - 100 - 800 - Crystal 640 - 320 - 160 - 1280 - {Regrowth Spell Woman} (after defeating Mungola) Mushroom 1000 Talons 500 Jewels 250 GOLD 2000 Credits Water 140 - 70 - 35 - 280 - Root 320 - 160 - 80 - 640 - Ash 200 - 100 - 50 - 400 - Clay 120 - 60 - 30 - 240 - *ACORN 200 - 100 - 50 - 400 - {Regrowth Spell Woman} (before defeating Mungola) Acorn 400 Talons 200 Jewels 100 GOLD 800 Credits Clay 240 - 120 - 60 - 480 - Wax 320 - 160 - 80 - 640 - Water 200 - 100 - 50 - 400 - {Lance} Ethanol 240 Talons 120 Jewels 60 GOLD 480 Credtis Wax 240 - 120 - 60 - 480 - Ash 240 - 120 - 60 - 480 - Iron 480 - 240 - 120 - 960 - Acorn 480 - 240 - 120 - 960 - *BRIMSTONE 600 - 300 - 150 - 1200 - Crystal 320 - 160 - 80 - 640 - {Tinker Tinderbox} Acorn 480 Talons 240 Jewels 120 GOLD 960 Credits Brimstone 640 - 320 - 160 - 1280 - Ethanol 400 - 200 - 100 - 800 - Ash 240 - 120 - 60 - 480 - Iron 720 - 360 - 180 - 1440 - {Man in Dark Forest} Mushroom 1200 Talons 600 Jewels 300 GOLD 2400 Credits Iron 720 - 360 - 180 - 1280 - Roots 320 - 160 - 80 - 640 - Oil 320 - 160 - 80 - 640 - Ethanol 400 - 200 - 100 - 800 - Feather 4000 - 2000 - 1000 - 8000 - {Fire Power Spell Man} (temporary) Feather 4000 Talons 2000 Jewels 1000 GOLD 8000 Credits ++BRIMSTONE 600 - 300 - 150 - 1200 - Acorn 480 - 240 - 120 - 960 - Iron 480 - 240 - 120 - 960 - ----------- |Omnitopia| ----------- {Area A2} *IRON 180 Talons 90 Jewels 45 Gold 360 CREDITS *MUSHROOM 300 - 150 - 75 - 600 - Root 80 - 40 - 20 - 160 - *FEATHER 1000 - 500 - 250 - 2000 - *ETHANOL 100 - 50 - 25 - 200 - Oil 80 - 40 - 20 - 160 - *GUNPOWDER 1500 - 750 - 375 - 3000 - NOTE: After I made this part of the guide I found something very similar to it by Carson Lee at RPGamer. I know that sounds really lame to say "How could I rip him off if I didn't know about it?" But I figure that since a) it's not exactly an original idea to want to compare all ingrediant prices in Evemore and b) GameFAQs doesn't have something like this and c) RPGamer is not exactly the place people go for gameplay help anymore so Carson Lee's FAQ is probably not going to see a whole lot of action (that's not to say that this one will either since so many people hate this game) d) I honestly did make this on my own I'm, therefore, justified in including this portion of the guide ====================================================================== III. *Ingredient Requirements* ====================================================================== I don't know how useful you'll find this but this is just something you should be able to look when you're buying ingrediants and wondering "Hmmm, now do I really need any of X ingrediants?" +Acorn+ +Ash+ +Atlas Amulet+ Super Heal X 1 Lightning Storm X 2 Atlas X 1 Regrowth X 1 Fireball X 2 Lance X 1 Explosion X 1 Defend X 1 Atlas X 1 Revealer X 2 +Bone+ +Brimstone+ +Clay+ Barrier X 2 Slow Burn X 1 Hard Ball X 1 Revive X 1 Fireball X 1 Defend X 1 Fire Power X 1 +Crystal+ +Dry Ice+ +Ethanol+ Stop X 1 Call Up X 1 Super Heal X 2 Hard Ball X 1 Explosion X 2 Energize X 1 Double Drain X 2 Drain X 1 +Feather+ +Grease+ +Gun Powder+ One Up x 1 Reflect X 2 Nitro X 1 Fire Power X 1 Force Field X 1 Nitro X 2 +Iron+ +Limestone+ +Meteorite+ Slow Burn X 1 Barrier X 1 Call Up X 1 Reflect X 1 Crush X 1 Lightning Storm X 1 Lance X 1 Force Field X 2 Energize X 1 +Mud Pepper+ +Mushroom+ +Oil+ Levitate X 1 Corrosion X 1 Flash X 2 Cure X 1 +Root+ +Vinegar+ +Wax+ Revive X 3 Sting X 1 Stop X 2 One Up X 1 Miracle Cure X 1 Speed X 1 Miracle Cure X 2 Escape X 1 Flash X 1 Drain X 2 Double Drain x 2 Crush X 1 Cure X 2 Escape X 1 Revealer X 1 +Water+ Acid Rain X 3 Corrosion X 3 Heal X 1 Levitate X 1 Regrowth X 2 Speed X 2 Sting X 2 ===================================================================== Secret of Evermore (C) Squaresoft 1995 =====================================================================
