Romancing SaGa 2 FAQ/Walkthrough Version 1.0 8/8/99

**Introduction**
Romancing SaGa 2, in my opinion, is one of the greatest RPG's ever made for the
Super Famicom. It uses the now infamous free scenario system. What this means is
that at any given point in the game you are able to choose different paths for
your main character. No given path is set but the beginning is always the same
and the end is always the same. I am writing this FAQ as I play through the
game. I've already beaten the game but I'm doing it again to make sure of
everything I write in this FAQ. ALL parts of this FAQ are subject to being
updated as I need to find good translations of all the names and to add any
notes about the game.

**Story**
This is a loosely translated version of the Romancing SaGa 2 storyline. I didn't
do it but my Japanese friend passed it on to me when I asked him. This will be
updated when I get a more clear translation. A long time ago there were 7
noblemen. These were great leaders for the people of the world. A great evil
came one day and they ventured into a portal to fight it. When they returned
their minds were twisted and evil. They created chaos in the world and could not
be stopped. You start off by picking your last Emperor. Male or Female there
hardly isn't a difference.

*RUMOR* I was told that only the female last Emperor can learn Moonlighting,
Noel's special attack.

**The 7 Noblemen**
Here are the seven noblemen and their info. Note that in the game all of the 7
Noblemen have multiple forms. If you wait too long to fight them or because of
certain decisions in your game they will transform into a more powerful version.
I will add more info as I obtain it.

1. Kzinssie: A impish floating creature with a tail. Wears rags and carries a
sword. The second form has his face revealed with a zombie looking head coming
out of his mouth.
Special technique: Soul Steal: Drains all the LP of one character.

2. Subier: A half octopus half man creature. His second form occurs when he
combines with the Master of the Ocean. He turns into a whale with a human torso
at the top. The torso has tentacles for hair and one of the tentacles holds a
spear.
Special technique: Maelstrom: A powerful magic that sends a wave across the
screen.

3. Dantarg: A centaur like creature with a long tail. He has 4 forms. Each
succeeding form he becomes bigger and gains more armor and a weapon.
Special technique: Charge: Dantarg charges at the party and hits them all.

4. Noel: A swordsman with bluish white hair. He is the brother of Rocbouquet.
His second form has a more elaborate battle costume and he wields a sword.
Special technique: Moonlighting: Noel sends a stream of blue skulls across
the screen hitting the party

5. Bokhohn: A small old man holding tiny puppets. His second form has him
controlling a large clown puppet that's juggling knives.
Special technique: Marionet: Bokhohn gains control of your characters.

6. Rocbouquet: Sister of Noel. A woman holding blue skulls and with blue hair.
Her second form has her wearing a black dress and with blue flames for her hair.
Special technique: Temptation: Rocbouquet gains control of all male
characters. Female characters remain unaffected.

7. Wagnas: A woman's torso with butterfly wings. Her second form has her with
red hair and blood on her face. In her wings are holes and they are darker in
color.
Special technique: Psycho Bind: Sends out a stream of yellow balls that hits
one member for damage. All other characters receive damage as well. There is a
chance of the character going crazy.

*NOTE* All of the 7 noblemen's special techniques can be learned by your party
but they are usually weaker.

Emperors.

I will add locations and descriptions as the FAQ progresses.

**Avalon**
This is your kingdom. There are important things that will help you in your
quest within this kingdom. As time progresses you can build additions to your
castle.
1. Avalon University
2. Magician's Cove
3. Hero Section

Besides additions to the kingdom there are important people in your kingdom that
do helpful things.
1. The adivsors are the people in the blue hats and uniforms that tell you
things. In the small room to the left of your throne there are 2 advisors there.
One will tell you how much money you make per battle and the other will tell you
how much money Avalon has.
2. Blacksmiths are the 2 guys in the upper right corner of the kingdom outside.
There is an old man and a young man in the room. The old man makes weapons and
the young man makes armor. After they make you a new piece of equipment it is
able to be bought in the stores in Avalon one generation later.
3. Technique Soldiers and Formation Soldiers. There guys are all located in one
big room near the staircase in the back of the castle. The technique soldiers
are 3 guys that sit on stools. They appear after Gellards generation and they
give your party techniques that were learned in all previous generations. The
formation soldiers show new formations whenever a new class shows them one. I
will list everything about these as the FAQ goes on.

In addition to all of these things in Avalon there is also a storage room. It is
located right above the Technique and Formation Soldier's room. In the storage
room you can put away any equipment that you do not need. Also as time passes
more equipment appears in the room.

**Generations**
After finishing a major event usually a large amount of times passes and you
choose a new emperor. If your main character loses all his LP you must choose a
new emperor from your existing party. However this is not the case with special
Emperors, I.E. Leon, Gellard and the Last Emperors. If you lose all of their LP
you will get a Game Over.
*Note* Leon is supposed to die in the battle with Kzinssie.

**Walkthrough**
There are a number of different ways to get through this game. This is just one!

You start the game with Leon and Gellard in a party. You are inside a cave that
was the grave of Kzinssie. He returned however and now there are monsters there.
Explore and cave and take the 2 treasure chests inside. When you leave head back
to the castle where you meet up with Gellard's brother. Leon will ask you,
Gellard, to leave and you will exit the castle. When you get outside go to the
town then enter the castle again. Gellard should say something to himself and
you will be able to visit the throne room again. When you enter the throne room
you see that Leon is there along with your brother. From here on you join Leon's
party and must leave the kingdom.

*Watchman's Nest* This is your first event. In here is a treasure chest with a
great sword that has a attack point of 16. Make sure to get it. The watchman is
downstairs and on the right side of the fork in the road.

*Cave of The Goblin King* Here you must kill the Goblin King. To get the 2
treasure chests you have to find a blocked entrance and then go north till you
see a skull in a small corner. Touch the skull and you will fight a slime. After
killing the slime step on the skull and the blockade will disappear.

Upon returning to the Kingdom you find that your guards have fallen. In the
middle of town is Gellard's brother. He dies and you see a recap of the battle
between him and Kzinssie. Now you must go to Somon, the other town in your area,
and kill Kzinssie.

*Somon*
When you enter Somon you see that it has been invaded by monsters. There is a
large house located north in the town. Enter the house and find your way to the
top floor. If you don't get the treasure chests now you have only one more
chance so it's now or later. Also you can run away from the monster chests. Upon
fighting Kzinssie just attack blindly. Eventually he'll spout some meaningless
words and do Soul Steal on Leon. Leon dies and now you have Gellard as your
emperor.
*NOTE* If you look in Gellard's ability list you have the dodge for Soul Steal.

After becoming emperor your kingdom has been invaded! From here on you have to
kill the head monsters near the entrance of the town. Afterwards you're able to
pick an ally for your party of four and then you can head towards Somon.

*Somon Revisted*
Somon is still the same as last time. Enter the house and get any treasure
chests you missed. Go up to Kzinssie and kill him. He'll try to Soul Steal from
you but since you have the dodge you can't be touched by it. When you kill him a
year will pass and Gellard will have a new outfit.

**End of Walkthough**

**Last words**
There is still a great number of things to add to this FAQ including various
things such as a complete walkthrough and a list of all possible events and how
to start them. If there is anything you wish for me to add then please feel free
to e-mail me.

**Next Update**
Include more information on techniques and dodges. Formations and how to get
them. Character classes, their stats and description. More of a walkthrough,
hopefully getting through at least another noblemen. And a bunch of other stuff
I can't think of now but will get to!
