Use of this FAQ is not reccomended unless you are absolutely stuck. They can ruin the fun of finding out the stuff yourself. Graphics: 8.0 Super Nintendo-ish graphics, but the special effects rule! No polygons either! Sound: 7.0 It drives you nuts after a while! Control: 7.5 Tough at first, but great once you get used to it. The only N64 game that I know of that doesn't use the Control Stick! Fun: 8.5 The variety will keep you interested! Overall: It's a great game! Good for a few rentals at least! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Story! Professor Theo and Ultra Intergalactic Cybot G Marina Liteyears went to visit Planet Clancer. Marina was out scouting while Prof. Theo waited in the ship (I like the ship). There's a knock at the door and a bunch of Clancers burst in and start going wild. Then they kidnap the Prof. and run off. Marina spies the Clancers getting away with the Prof. and sets out to rescue him. More story as the game progresses. (Of course the game is made by Enix, so they never really make their stories clear. Ever play Illusion of Gaia?) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Items! Blue Gem- Restores a small amount of life. Green Gem- Restores a large amount of life. Red Gem- Collect them for Continues. Gold Gem- Restore a lot of life and enable you to see more of the great ending! Clanpot- Stores up to 32 items and can mix items together to make better items. Bomb- Blow up enemies. Clanbomb- Blow up orange walls. Clanballs- Jump from ball to ball. Shake them and sometimes stuff will happen. Various items- throw them around, shake them up, do lots of stuff with them! Machine gun- Shake to turn it into the deadlier Spread Gun. Missile Pod- Shake to turn the missiles into homing missiles. Tricycle- The Clancers love these. Jet or pedal to use. Ms. Hint- A talking Clanball. Pay 10 Red Gems to get a hint. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: If you earn an A average, you can control part of the ending. You'll be able to catch Teran as he tries to beat up Marina and the ending will be different. You'll also earn a spare Gold Gem to see the final part of the ending. You can earn S grades for times, but it is nearly impossible! Even Nintendo of America has only managed about 10-12 S grades. I've only gotten one (and that's in the level "Bee's the one!") The warp stars are red. The Exit stars are blue. The little stories in every level description are what I assume to have happened. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Level strategies! These will give you a description of the level and some strategy for getting through it. It will also tell you the location of the Gold Gems. Stage 1-1: Meet Marina! Marina pursues the runaway Clancers, but they lose her in Nepton village. You'll learn important techniques and meet many important characters in this village. Mission: Take the warp to Stage 1-2. Level strategy: You don't need a strategy for this level. Just learn the basic manuevers and talk to the Clancers. No enemies here. Get the Clanbomb from Geold and destroy the temple made of orange blocks. Grab the star and it's pretty much self- explanatory from there. GOLD GEM: Remember that bronze statue early on in the level? Grab a Clancer and throw them into it to destroy the statue. The Gold Gem is inside. Don't worry about the second one in that platform. You'll get it later on. Stage 1-2: Meet Calina! Marina meets her evil doppelganger in this level. Not much to do here. Just talk to people and get stuff. Mission: Take the warp to 1-3. Level strategy- No strategy needed again. Just go around and be sure to shake up that guy in the hospital. He has lots of Red Gems! GOLD GEM- Again, pretty easy. It's above the first green building in a white tower. Rocket up there. Stage 1-3: Clanball Land! Marina's journey takes her to Clanball land, a strange amusement parked jammed with Gems. Mission: Get outta this crazy theme park! Level strategy- None needed. Have fun! Yank on all the white Clanballs! GOLD GEM- In the part with the roller coaster type things, hitch a ride on the yellow Clanball (it's quick). Whenever you shake it, a Clanbomb will fall out. Bomb the orange blocks and jump through the warp. It will teleport you to where you'll easily grab the Gold Gem. Stage 1-4: Spike Land! "Spikes! There are spikes everywhere! I can't take it any longer! Run for it!" - Doom Daddy Marina travels on to Spike Land, a strange kind of amusement park packed with wierd events. Mission: Get outta this crazy theme park! (again) Level strategy- None really. Just grab the Gems. GOLD GEM- above the circle of spikes. Jump up there and grab it. Stage 1-5: 3 Clancer Kids. Marina finds herself in a dangerous section of Planet Clancer, hunting down three kids. Mission: Find those three kids! Level Strategy- The first kid is hopping around on the platforms with fire in between them. The second kid is at the top of the level, above the first kid. The third is in the small maze on the far right of the board. He'll always outrun you. So when he jumps down the chute, turn around and head him off. GOLD GEM- Find the husband too. Tilt the Clancoil to the right and launch off it and Jet slightly upwards. You'll land on top of the maze. Grab a bomb from the sparkly pot, then go to the orange wall in the maze and bomb it. You'll find the husband. Shake him up and he'll drop the Gold Gem. Stage 1-6: Blockman Rises. Marina meets Teran again, who she originally met in Nepton village. He transforms into a giant Blockman to help you out in this level. Mission: Pulverize all the evil clancers! Level Strategy- Grab on to Teran when he changes into the Clanball and he will become the Blockman. Use the Control Pad to move left and right, make Teran duck or punch upwards. You can do a lethal kick when pushing down on the Contol Pad when ducking. GOLD GEM- The third Clancer that is throwing bombs has it. Drop down off the Blockman and grab him and shake him. Stage 1-7: Wormin' Up! Teran's sister, Celes, is planting flowers in the desert when suddenly a big worm comes up and starts terrorizing Celes. Marina decides to pound the worm around to teach it a lesson. Mission: Turn that worm into fish bait! Level strategy: Just grab the worm by the head and throw it around. Not too tough. Throw it into the ground for a two hit combo. GOLD GEM- Shake up the worm and it will eventually drop the Gold Gem. Stage 1-8: Crisis: Nepton Marina saved Celes, but the village is under attack by Spur Clancers. Help Teran and the guard guy fight them off. Mission: Get rid of the Spur Clancers! Level Strategy: Try to keep them from pounding up Teran and the guard guy too much. A good strategy is to grab the guard and throw him at the lined up clancers. You'll score a strike every time! Shake up the guard guy for some Red Gems, too. GOLD GEM: Keep the Spurs from pounding up the Good Guys too much and you'll score the Gold, Green, Blue and Red! One of every kind! Woo hoo! Stage 1-9: Western World Marina travels to Western World to stomp more Spur Clancers. Mission: Stomp 'em up and be back in time for dinner! Level Strategy- None needed really. Just grab the gun from the Tank Cat and shake it once so it fires in three directions. Then clobber as many foes as you can before it self destructs! GOLD GEM: It's up on the floating platforms. Drag a Clanbomb way up there and pitch it to knock away the wall in front of the Gem. Stage 1-10: Volcano! Marina is trying to get out of Western World, but some unknown force makes the volcano erupt. Mission: Grab the gems and get outta there! Level strategy- Dodge the rocks and grab as many gems as you can. GOLD GEM: It's left of the "Gem Pyramid". Stage 2-1: Sea of Lava Marina finds herself inside the volcano, with a bunch of enemy Clancers waiting to attack. Mission: Get out of the Hot Spot! Level strategy: Stay out of the lava bursts and you'll do fine. GOLD GEM: Slide to get it. Stage 2-2: Vertigo! Marina is no longer in the Hot Spot, but instead in a tipsy room with orange blocks galore! Mission: Get out of this nutsy 3-D room! Marina is only 2D! Level strategy: If you accidentally mess up, pull the green Clanball. It will reset the room. GOLD GEM: This one's a toughie. On the last stratch of Orange blocks, bomb the small section behind the bomb-producing pot, then get up the stairs to the blue platform. Wait fo the blocks to crumble a little more, then hop up to the yellow platform. Get on the stairs to the right and hurry up there before they crumble. Get on the platform and ride it up to the Gem. Stage 2-3: Sink or Float! Marina finds herself in the hot spot again, this time with sinking platforms and more evil Clancers. Mission: Get outta this crazy place! Level Strategy: Grab the throwing stars that the Clancers toss and throw them back to mow down enemies. GOLD GEM: Do a super jump past the goal and jet over to another platform. Repeat on this platform to reach another platform with the Gold Gem. Stage 2-4: Hot Rush! Marina is caught in a crumbling maze of Orange Blocks. Mission: Get out of this place before it all goes down! Level strategy: Keep on the orange and keep moving! GOLD GEM: This one is really tough! Move move MOVE to the first star and go through it. Get over to the white Clanball to the left quick! Tug it to make another white clanball appear near the end of the stange. Run like crazy to the end and shake the other White Clanball to get the Gem. Stage 2-5: Searin Swing! Marina is in a strange section of the volcano where Clancers get a kick out of swinging like vines. (anyone remember the monkeys from Yoshi's Island?). Mission: Swing from line to line until you reach the warp star. Level Strategy: Just swing from Clancer to Clancer, and don't fall in the lava! GOLD GEM: Swing across more vines past the exit until you reach a platform with (You guessed it) The GEM! Stage 2-6: Flambee! Apparently Marina has trespassed into a bee nest, and the bees aren't too happy about it! Mission: Get rid of that big bee! Level Strategy: Throw the bee in the lava to inflict major damage! Just slapping it into the ground will work too. GOLD GEM: Shake up the bee until he drops it. He'll send out smaller bees, so be careful when shaking. Stage 2-7: Tightrope Ride! After that battle with the big bee, the Clancers are desperate to keep Marina from escaping, so they put this dangerous little place in here. Mission: Get outta this crazy place! Level Strategy: You'll spend most of this level hopping around on Clanballs and stuff. Not too difficult once you get the hang of it. GOLD GEM: At the part where you launch from Clanball to Clanball as they sink, go up past the exit and to the platform above the exit. Two Red Gems, Two Blue Gems, Two Green Gems, one Gold Gem are your reward. Stage 2-8: Freefall! The Clancers have strategically placed this dangerous room to make sure Marina would have to suffer through it. Mission: Get outta this crazy place! Level Strategy: Grab one of the blocks in the floor and pitch it to get started. Grab the stars that are before the ones on the bottom. Ones on the bottom usually lead back to start. GOLD GEM: It's on the right side and fall between the wall and the blue blocks. Stay alert and prepare to fire your retro rockets when you spy it. Stage 2-9: Magma Rafts This is the Clancer's last chance to stopping Marina. They'll even sacrifice themselves to sink her. Mission: Keep afloat and get to the end. Level Strategy: All you have to do is keep from dropping into lava. Pitch the clancers and other objects that try to sink you. GOLD GEM: In the section with the Clancoil, drop down onto the platform with the flower-headed Clancer. Shake him and grab the Gem, then get back on the coil. Stage 2-10: Seasick Climb The Clancers have arranged one more tiring room for Marina to get through, then it's on to Migen! Mission: Reach the top of this crazy maze. Level Strategy: This room rocks back and forth, and 3D platforms go back and forth too. Jump on one when it comes to your level. (No fair! 2D chars in a 3D world!) Just take your time. GOLD GEM: It's between the wall and a big pileup of blocks. Get up to the top and drop through. Stage 2-11: Migen Brawl! Marina finds the Prof. in trouble. The trouble maker is none other than Migen and his gigantic son! Mission: KO Migen and son and rescue the Prof. Level Strategy: As long as Migen Sr. Is around, he'll heal Migen Jr. if you pound on him too much. Get rid of him by grabbing Migen Jr's fists and throwing them at Migen Sr. He only takes three hits, but after two hits, he starts shooting electric blasts. Catch them to turn them into Red Gems. As for Migen Jr., grab his fists and throw them in his face to hurt him. Catch his fireballs to turn them into Blue Gems. When he shoots a big fireball, hover over it. Keep blocking his punches until he gets dizzy, then grab his fist and smack him with it. GOLD GEM: With a lot of practice, you can defeat Migen and Son without getting hit, and the Gem will be yours! Marina rescues the Prof. but he is replaced by a clever decoy. Marina sets out to rescue the Prof. again. Stage 3-1: Clanpot Shake! Marina has rescued the Prof., but surprisingly, he gets captured again. So Marina sets out once again to rescue the Prof. Marina traces them down to Snow Land. Mission: Reach the end of that big spike pit. But how?? A Spring Clancer might help! Level Strategy: You'll learn how to use the Clanpot in this level. Here are some recipes for mixing up stuff. (To mix stuff, put it in the Clanpot and give the Clanpot a good shake) To take stuff out, duck on top of the Clanpot and press B. To check the contents, grab it and hold Down. 4 Small Explosives (Mines, bombs)= 1 Clanbomb 2 Flowers= 1 Throwing Star 6 Blue Gems= 1 Green Gem 3 Throwing Stars= 1 Boomberang 2 Green Gems= ????? (Find out for yourself) GOLD GEM: Let's see. Green Gems are tough to find and restore a lot of life. What is even harder to find than a Green Gem and restores even more life? What would happen if you mixed together two Green Gems? Try it and find out! Stage 3-2: Clance War Marina is caught in the middle of a battlefield, with an army of Clancers after her. Mission: Get out of this nutty battlefield! Level Strategy: Don't need one. Just kick some ass! GOLD GEM: Near the beginning of the level, there will be a Clancer wearing a Santa Hat about to be blown up by friendly fire. Save him from the mine and shake him up so he drops it. Stage 3-3: Missile Surf! Marina finds herself in an odd maze, with her only mode of transportation a live missile. It's suicidal, but it seems to be the only way. Mission: Don't blow up! Level Strategy: Clancer Mechs will plague you throughout this level. If they hit, you'll be temporarily stunned and unable to escape from danger. Remember to grab the Clanbomb on another missile and use it to blow up the orange blocks. GOLD GEM: Follow the arrow of gems up past the goal. The Gold Gem floats high in the sky. Stage 3-4: Clanball Lift This is a cool little obstacle course. Marina sets a challenge for herself and continues through the course. Mission: Get past the obstacle course. Level Strategy: It's pretty self-explanatory until the dead end with the blue Clanball. Shake it until three statues come out. Stack up the statues and jump over the wall. GOLD GEM: In the part where the Clancers are swinging again, the Gold Gem rests above the chain. Jump up the chain of Clancers and snag it. Stage 3-5: Go Marzen 64 Another battlefield/obstacle level. Marina sets out to stomp Marzen 64. Mission: Destroy Marzen 64. Level Strategy: There is a house full of gems at the start, but it is covered with an orange block roof. You're probably wondering where a Clanbomb is. Check the Clanpot. It has bomb ingredients inside. So shake em up and take your Clanbomb! Marzen isn't too tough to beat. Just blast his mech with the other Clancers then pitch him around. GOLD GEM: In the second section there is a Clanpot in a box of orange blocks. Yank the white Clanball to make a Clanbomb drop, but don't let it hit that end of the Orange Blocks. Grab it and bomb the end above the Clanpot. Drop in, grab it and split! Then shake it and take the Clancer with the Jetpack out of the Clanpot. Grab him and ride him up to the floating gems above the Yellow Clanballs. One of these is the Gold Gem. Stage 3-6: Chilly Dog Marina meets Chilly Dog, a deranged psycho mutt that must be stopped. Mission: Defeat Chilly Dog! Level Strategy: Just grab his head and throw him around. GOLD GEM: Grab his head and shake him up until he drops it. Stage 3-7: Snowstorm Maze Marina finds herself in a snowstorm with more puzzles to solve. Mission: Solve all three puzzles. Level Strategy: To get past the first section, park the trike next to the other one inside the box and park the Spring Clancer in the other box, next to the other one. A star will appear. Jump through it. You probably don't need any help in the second section, so I'll skip it. The third section- get the Clanpot and put all the Clancers in there. Take the pot up to the top of the hill with the little arch and let them all out. A star will appear. Jump through and you're done. GOLD GEM: In the first section, hop across the spikes on the Spring Clancer. Stage 3-8: Lunar! "It's getting cold out here! But that's OK, 'cause this will be a quick fight!" - Lunar "Yep, I totally agree." - Marina Marina meets Lunar, who is out to stop her from doing any more damage. Mission: Defeat Lunar. Level Strategy: Use his own bombs against him and don't let him grab you. He'll inflict massive damage. GOLD GEM: Grab his laser blast a couple times and it will turn into the Gold Gem. You can also throw it back at him if you are quick. Stage 3-9: The Day Before "The day before what?" Marina wonders as she steps into this hotel. Mission: None really. Just shake up Clancers and get gems. Level Strategy: No strategy needed. GOLD GEM: Join the Clancers that are jumping rope. You'll earn Red Gems for every successful jump, and eventually the Gold Gem. Stage 3-10: The Day Of It's the day of the big Athletic Festival, and the White team needs Marina's help. It's lucky Marina dropped by, cuz she has the skill that the White Team will need to win. The prize is... Prof. Theo??? Now the White Team has to win! Mission: Win the fest and free Prof. Theo. Level Strategy: Just follow the rules that Tac Clancer gives you before each event and do better than the Red Team does. GOLD GEM: If you finish the 100M dash in under 11 seconds, it will be yours. You must start as soon as the GO comes up. The best I got was 0:10:94. It is NOT easy! Stage 3-11: Cat-astrophe! The White Team has won the Athletic Festival, but Lunar has run away with the prize. Cat Clancer has come to get rid of Marina, but she is not strong enough. Marina agrees to settle it through a game of dodgeball. Mission: Trounce Cat Clancer in a game of dodgeball! Level Strategy: Ignore the flower and the blob, they only get in the way. Grab the ball and try to bean Cat Clancer. GOLD GEM: Beat Cat Clancer without crossing the line or getting hit and Cat Clancer will give you the Gem. Stage 3-12: Cereberus Alpha "Heere's Lunar!" -Lunar Cat Clancer takes Marina to Lunar and his war machine, Cerberus Alpha. Cat Clancer will help you destroy Cereberus Alpha. Mission: Destroy Cereberus Alpha. Shake up the missiles and gun to make them more powerful. Level Strategy: The first part, you're out in front, with Lunar firing a laser, his gun, and missiles at you. Jump on top of one of the missiles and ride it around. Catch other missiles and throw them at Lunar. Of all the things that Lunar throws out, avoid the Beam most of all. In the second part, you will be behind him, and he will shoot his Machine Gun at you and fire missiles. Do the same thing as the first part. After that, Cereberus Alpha will transform and Lunar will try to outdo you with his jumping around. Grab him when the cursor shows up and throw him around three times. Then he hops back on Cereberus Alpha and drops his machine gun. Grab it and dodge him and his mech and keep shooting him until he gives up. GOLD GEM: This is probably the toughest gem in the game. Defeat Lunar without getting hit once and its yours. Marina has rescued the Prof. once again, and the Prof. swears he will fight back if they try to capture him again. Some Clancers break in, Marina goes to stop them. More Clancers sneak in and capture Theo. Marina sets out AGAIN. Stage 4-1: Rolling Rock! Marina is caught in between a rock and a hard place in this race to the exit. Mission: Reach the exit before the rock can block it. Level Strategy: Just jet jet jet to the end! GOLD GEM: There is a warp star along the way. Grab it and you'll be in a small room with two pots with Red Gems, one with a Clanbomb and the Gold Gem. Stage 4-2: Toadly Raw! Marina is pitted against a hostile toad. Mission: Pound that toad around! Level Strategy: Grab his toungue and shake to slam him on the ground and score several hits. His toungue gets faster and faster every time you slam him. You can also grab his tounge and snap him with it, but this takes much longer. GOLD GEM: When the Clancer on the cloud appears, grab his lightning bolt (keep holding B until it stops)and fling it at the toad. He'll blow up quite nicely and drop the gem. Stage 4-3: 7 Clancer Kids Marina goes to hunt down the Clancer Kids, but now there are seven of them and they mutate into fighting machines. Mission: Rescue all the Clancer Kids from Calina's spell. Level Strategy: They're actually quite simple. For the floating spikes, grab a mine (NOT a spiked ball) and throw it into the giant spike. Do this eight times to defeat it. For the giant Clanpot, bop the rocks to put out the fire, then throw them into the Clanpot. Sometimes flaming gems fly out too. For the laser shooting machines, grab the rocks that shoot out of the ground and fling them into the face of the machine. GOLD GEM: Shake up Sarie, the pink Clancer Kid (she's also the smallest). Stage 4-4: Rescue! Act 1 Marina is nearly killed by Leo. Teran sets out to find the item that may save Marina. Mission: Yay, you get to play as Teran! Level Strategy: Quite simple. Beat up clancers and grab gems until you reach the end. To open the last star, ride the trike into the box below it. GOLD GEM: Use the Warp Stars to reach the top of the blocks that spell out MARINA. Where the little sparkly thing is when you step into the star, that's where you will go. Don't try the final star. Drop down and triple jump to grab it. Don't hold up to avoid grabbing the edge. Stage 4-5: Rescue! Act 2 Teran is pitted against Calina as she pulls her Marina Clone act. Mission: Defeat Calina and get the Mr. Health! Level Strategy: Quite simple too. Do a Final Blow to hit her in the air, then pummel her when she's down. Punch the bombs to take them out, cuz if you run out of blocks, you're finished! GOLD GEM: In one of the blue blocks (in the very bottom row). Have Calina nuke it with a Clanbomb, then grab the Gem and split. Stage 4-6: TARUS!! "So who are you? Are you the stage boss I'm going to easily defeat next?" -Marina Marina meets Tarus, a big hulking brute with a big mouth. Mission: Defeat Tarus! Level Strategy: Throw the rocks that fall out when he slams down and throw them at him. GOLD GEM: When he goes for a windup punch, grab his punch, then throw him backwards into a wall. He'll get hit hard and drop the Gem. Stage 4-7: Ghost Catcher Marina finds King Aster in a dark cavern full of Mischief Making ghosts. Mission: Capture all those ghosts in the specially designed Clanpot. Level Strategy: Destroy statues with Clanbombs, uproot flowers, and use that Boomerang to kill the spikes to knock out all the spikes to find all 13 ghosts. GOLD GEM: Grab a Clanbomb, ride the cloud up, go past the spikes, jet down, go right and nuke the statues to reveal the Gold Gem. You'll have to be very quick. Stage 4-8: Aster's Tryke! "Where are we now? Did you find my favorite tricycle?" - King Aster Marina must outrun a gigantic water wave and deliver King Aster's trike to him. Mission: Get the trike to King Aster. Level Strategy: Keep moving to outrun that water wave. GOLD GEM: Near the island where King Aster is, floating just over the water. Don't go too far right and jump over to snag it, then quickly jet back. Stage 4-9: Moley Cow! "More insane animals?" says Marina as she steps up to battle this psycho mole. Mission: Defeat this insane mole! Level Strategy: Grab him and throw him to the ground. If he tunnels under and pops up, grab him and yank him right out of the ground. GOLD GEM: When you knock him on his back, jump up and jet down into his belly. He'll cough up Blue Gems and eventually the Gold Gem. Stage 4-10: Aster's Maze! King Aster leads Marina to the maze where Sasquatch Beta is located. Mission: Get out of this maze to battle Sasquatch Beta. Level Strategy: None really. Just follow the Clancer's advice. GOLD GEM: One of the Clancers has it, I just always forget which. Give them all a shake. Stage 4-11: Sasquatch Beta "You...were definitely my match, Marina." - Tarus Marina has found Tarus and his fighting machine, Sasquatch Beta. Mission: Defeat Sasquatch Beta. Level Strategy: He has only two rounds of attack. One is when he is driving a tank, the second when the tank transforms into a mech. In tank mode, grab the rocks and hit Tarus with them. When the tank charges up to fire, you can do one of two things- get close to the tank to avoid the shot, or grab onto the gun and jet upwards, then jump off when it fires. It will hit Tarus for major damage. When it transforms, it will walk up and try to kick you. Grab the kick and jet backwards to yank the mech right out from under Tarus, then slam it down on him (Hit down twice when the mech is above him). Four hits and Tarus will be defeated. GOLD GEM: Just like Lunar, beat him without getting hurt. It's much easier than the battle with Lunar. Marina rescues the Prof. again. She goes to answer the phone, but then a bunch of Clancers come in and capture Theo AGAIN! Marina sets out once more to save the Prof. (repetitive plot, isn't it?) Stage 5-1: Clance War II Marina is caught in the middle of a large group of hostile Clancers. Mission: Thrash those Clancers and get out of there. Level Strategy: Grab the Missile Launchers and Machine Guns and shake them once to make Homing Missiles and Spread Guns. Then thrash thrash thrash! GOLD GEM: Oh damn this one is tough to find. After the third mech, one of the Clancers on foot is carrying it. Just try giving them all a shake. Stage 5-2: Counterattack (also known as Marzen's Revenge) Marina gains the help of an ostrich for this stage. She'll need it too, with Marzen 64 back and ready for action with propellor bombs and a beam gun. Mission: Beat Marzen and get ready for the next course. Level Strategy: Grab the bombs and throw them at Marzen. Hold A to make the ostrich hover to avoid the beam and catch high-flying bombs. GOLD GEM: Catch the beam and the Gem will drop out. Stage 5-3: Bee's the one! Bee changes sides to help out Marina in this stage. She'll need his help to defeat all the Jet Clancers in the area and get aboard the Evil Empire's airship. Mission: Get deeper into the base with the help of Bee. Level Strategy: Snag missiles and fling them at Clancers, or just grab a Clancer and use him to bowl over his buddies. GOLD GEM: In the third missile in the stage. Give it a shake to free the Gem. Stage 5-4: Merco! "My name is Merco, but the ladies call me... Dr. Smooth-Love!" -Merco. Marina battles the final Justice Warrior, Merco. Mission: Defeat Merco. Level Strategy: Grab his shield and throw it at him. You can also grab his spear, but if you hesitate, he'll hit you with a lethal blow. You can also grab him while he is jetting and slam him to the ground. Grab his shield from him and shake it to make some Blue Gems fall out. GOLD GEM: His spear is made of gold. Worth checking out... Stage 5-5: Trapped? Marina finds herself in a big maze, with a Pirate Clancer ready for battle at the end of the maze. Mission: Get out of this crazy maze! Level Strategy: Once inside, remember you can reset the room by going into the Warp Star right of the first group of orange blocks. Jump in the first Teleport star. Jump back in the star you come out of. Shake the Clanballs where you end up at. It will make another Clanball and a Warp Star appear. Go into the star and you will be back where you started. Go back through the star. Shake the new Clanball for a Statue. Put it under the circle above the orange blocks near the entrance. Teleport back to the entrance and shake the Clanball. A bomb will drop onto the statue. (You need the statue or the bomb will nuke the orange blocks and you'll need to start over.) Take the bomb and blow up the thin wall of orange blocks to the right. Get another bomb and nuke the other orange wall. Go right through the door and battle the Pirate Clancer. Grab him and jet down when he swings across the room with his "Bionic Arm". He shouldn't take long to beat. Gold Gem: It's in the Clanball that's under the layer of blocks. Warp inside to grab it. Stage 5-6: Phoenix Gamma Marina battles Phoenix Gamma, Merco's fighter mech. Mission: Defeat Phoenix Gamma Level Strategy: Phoenix Gamma goes through three stages. In the first, he leaves his mech to go out and attack you with his sword and spear. Rip them out of this hands and belt him with them when he charges. It will take two hits from the spear before he goes into part two. The Phoenix Gamma will change into a mechanical bird. After it quits pecking at you, grab it's head and pull it straight down. It will snap up and hit Merco automatically. Then it will go psycho. Go straight down from it's head to avoid all the blasts. Do this two more times and go to the final stage. This one is easy. Grab a missile and throw it at Merco. That's all, folks! GOLD GEM: You guessed it! Beat Phoenix Gamma without taking a hit. This is tough! Stage 5-7: Inner Struggle "I know you're busy, but I must confront you! Are you ready?!" -Marina Marina reaches the inside of the Evil Empire's base, where she faces off with the Monolith. Mission: Defeat the Monolith Level Strategy: The Monolith itself does not attack. Bubbles with words like "hate" and "blood" float up. If you don't catch them, they turn into fireballs and fly at you. Grab them and shake them to turn them into good words and pound on the Monolith with them. Soon the Monolith will be defeated, and Leo will get really pissed off. GOLD GEM: Look for a bubble with the word "Dire" in it. Catch it, shake it so it turns to "Lucky!" and throw it. The Gem will pop out. For "Death" bubbles, do the same thing to get a Blue Gem. Stage 5-8: The Final Battle Marina has defeated the Evil Empire, and now Tarus, Merco and Lunar wish to challenge Marina to one final battle. Cerberus Alpha, Sasquatch Beta and Phoenix Gamma combine together to become... the almighty BEASECTOR! Mission: Defeat the Beasector Level Strategy: Grab the foot when it tries to stomp you, then shake to slam it on the ground and get gems. When they jump to the left, grab the rocket fist. You'll go to a view where you try to bean the Beasector with the fist. Aim well and fire. If it connects, they'll be hit hard. If they jump left, prepare for a barrage of laser shots. They'll also try to pull jump kicks on you. Just dodge these. If they leap into the background, prepare for evasive action, cuz they'll shoot a huge laser at you. Bean them three times with the fist and they're down for the count. Stage 5-9: Marina, King Aster and Prof. Theo return to Nepton. Mission: None. Just sit back and watch the ending Level Strategy: None needed. You can't change anything that happens (Well, I take that back. See the Notes at the start of the FAQ for a nifty trick). The more Gold Gems you collected, the more of the ending you'll get to see. GOLD GEM: See notes at the start. Stage 5-10: Credits Mission: None. Just watch the names of the great guys that made this game. Level Strategy: None needed. GOLD GEM: This isn't really a level at all, so if there is no level, there's no Gold Gem.
