It was originally an arcade game, and was brought to the SNES by Capcom in 1991. It's a side scrolling fighting game consisting of five levels. Following is the story told at the beginning of the game: ( Background: A map of Metro City) Metro City, a well-known crime capital, has been ruled by violence and death for many years. A fact which the newly-elected mayor and former Street Fighter, Mike Haggar, plans to change. At the center of the problem is the huge gang known as Mad Gear. Mad Gear controls all of the major criminal activity in the city. When they learned of Haggar's plans, they took immediate action to bring this new mayor under their control. (Black screen, with text, "Sometime in the 1990s...") ( Scene: Mike Haggar answering the phone in his office) Haggar: Hello, Mike Haggar here. Caller: Hee, hee, hee, Mr. Haggar. So pleased to make your acquaintance. I believe you know who I am. Don't hang up! We have a little business proposition for you... Your daughter for your cooperation. And we'll even throw in the regular monthly bonus to your salary that we offered before. Haggar: What?! What's happened to Jessica? Who is this?! Caller: Not so fast, Mike. Turn on your TV. ( Mike turns on TV. His daughter Jessica appears to be tied up.) Haggar: You fiend! What have you done to her? Caller: Nothing yet... but we will if you don't cooperate. Listen to reason. Why make your job difficult? ( TV screen changes from Jessica to a gang member) Just let us do as we please like the mayor before you did. ( Black screen with Capcom logo, fades to screen of Cody with towel around his neck) Cody: What?! Jessica was kidnapped?! The Mad Gears must pay! B. Character Profiles There are two selectable characters in the game, Cody ( Jessica's girlfriend) and Haggar ( Jessica's father). Here are the profiles of each from the game: Name: Cody Age: 22 Height: 5'11" Weight: 187 pounds Favorite Foods: Spinach, milk He is a martial arts expert. He is especially good with knives. His girlfriend, Jessica, was kidnapped by the Mad Gear gang. Name: Haggar Age: 46 Height: 6'8" Weight: 267 pounds Favorite Foods: Hamburger, baked potato He's a former champion Street Fighter. He's the new mayor of Metro City. He has mastered professional wrestling skills and is expert in the BACK DROP and PILE DRIVER. C. Controls Cody: Move up, down, left or right - Arrow Keys Jump ( with arrow key to jump in that direction ) - B Dropkick ( with arrow key to kick in that direction ) - jump, then Y Grab enemy - move into them until you pick them up Shoulder Throw ( must be holding enemy ) - Arrow Key + Y Repeated Knees to Stomach ( must be holding enemy ) - B Jumping Knee - jump with B, then press Y and arrow key in mid-air Spinning Jump Kick ( special attack, hits enemies from both sides but uses energy when executed ) - B+Y Pick up weapon or item - Y Haggar: Move up, down, left or right - Arrow Keys Jump ( with arrow key to jump in that direction ) - B Dropkick ( with arrow key to kick in that direction ) - jump, then Y Grab enemy - move into them until you pick them up German Suplex ( must be holding enemy ) - Arrow Key + Y Repeated Headbutts ( must be holding enemy ) - B Lunge - jump with B, then press Y and arrow key in mid-air Pile Driver ( must be holding enemy ) - jump, then Y ( with Arrow Key to piledrive in a certain direction ) Spinning Punch ( special attack, hits enemies from both sides but uses energy when executed ) - B+Y Pick up weapon or item - Y A few notes concerning these moves. The best way to grab enemies is from above or below, not straight on. For Cody's repeated knees or Haggar's repeated headbutts, they will execute three of them, except if one of the following occurs: you are struck by another enemy while executing the moves, you hold the enemy for several seconds without executing a move ( after which time you will drop him ), or you decide to execute a Shoulder Throw if you're Cody or a German Suplex if you're Haggar. For instance, you can execute two headbutts, but instead of doing the third, you can press Y instead and do a German Suplex. D. Weapons and Items Under barrels, boxes and drums you'll find food to restore your energy, items that give you points and weapons to use against the enemies. Food: Restores one-ninth of your energy- Vitamin E, Root Beer and Gum Restores one-quarter of your energy- Apple, Grapes and Banana Restores one-half of your energy- Pizza, Hamburger and Curry Restores all of your energy- Barbecue Items: Earns you 10 000 points- Diamond and Gold Bar Earns you 5 000 points- Necklace and Ring Earns you 3 000 points- Dollar, Yen and Dime Earns you 1 000 points- Hat, Radio and Hammer Weapons: The weapons in Final Fight can be used until one of the following occurs: you pick up another weapon, you are struck by an enemy, or the scene ends ( in this case you'll drop the weapon automatically). The weapons in the game are knives, pipes, muramasa swords and murasame swords. E. Enemies All of the enemies in Final Fight can be divided into several groups, with each group containing similar enemies with identical attacks. Regular Enemies include Simons (green clothes), Bred (grey clothes), Dug (red clothes), and Jake (blue clothes). Each of these enemies attack using punches and kicks, and they'll never surprise you with brains or strategy, usually just walking into you again and again. They're the most plentiful enemies in the game. Caped Enemies include Two P (green pants with a red cape) and J (blue pants with a yellow cape). Both of these guys are very quick and seem to be the smartest enemies, waiting until you're fighting another enemy, or punching, retreating quickly, then moving in to attack again. Their only attack is a punch, but they can be lethal when teamed with enemies of a different type. Fat Enemies include Wong Who (green pants and a white shirt), G. Oriber (blue pants and a white shirt) and Bill Bull (forest green pants and a white shirt). These guys are slow, except when they charge at you with their heads. Along with the head charge, their only attack is a kick. Cheap enemies include Slash (brown clothes) and Axl (grey clothes). Both of these guys are huge, but hate fighting head-on. They like to wait until you're occupied with another enemy, then attack from behind. Also, they attempt to block every one of your attacks by throwing their hands up and are often successful. Their attacks include a double axhandle (which takes half your energy) and a kick. Knife Enemies include Holly Wood (reddish-brown clothes) and El Gado (khaki clothes). Both of these guys are very quick, recover the quickest of any enemies from attacks and have a variety of offensive moves, including a knife stab, a knife throw, punches, a slide kick, and a move where they stand the length of the screen away from you, then jump at you, upside down, with two knives pointed down to stab you. Another version of Holly Wood, F. Holly Wood (stands for Fire Holly Wood, I think) appears in the game. This guy has very little energy, and the only thing he does is run on-screen, throw a flare which explodes and retreat. Punker Enemies include Sid (orange hair) and Billy (green hair). Both of these guys are skinny, but very quick. Offensive attacks include punches and kicks, as well as dropkicks from a variety of angles. Andore and Andore Jr. are big, stupid enemies who can do a lot of damage very quickly if you let them grab you. Their attacks include a piledriver (which takes about 9/10 of your life bar for Andore, 1/2 for Andore Jr.), repeated chokes (again, about 9/10 of your life bar if it's Andore, 1/2 for Jr.), a stomach ram, which they execute running from across the screen, a punch, and a butt stomp. They execute the butt stomp when they've knocked you down, and it takes nearly half your energy. A favorite tactic of Andore is to execute a piledriver, then finish you off with a butt stomp before you have time to react. Also in the game there are two Andores with different names, G. Andore and U. Andore. However, there seems to be no difference in the fighting styles of these Andores and the regular named ones. Finally, there are five bosses in the game. For full descriptions, attack patterns and strategies, look at the Boss Strategies section. F. Walkthrough 1. Slum Begin by walking to the right. You'll see a Jake leaning against a wall and a Bred coming from the right. Next a Dug from the right and a Simons from the left. During this time there's a stack of tires on screen. Hit it at anytime to possibly reveal an item or food. Proceed to the left. Next you see a Bred and a Two P kneeling down, and a Jake approaches from the left, followed by a J. When finished with these, again proceed to the right. (Actually, in this game you NEVER go to the left, always the right, so from here on I'll just say proceed). You'll come to a dead end, with a drumcan at the top at the screen and one at the bottom. A Simons, Axl and Two P approach from the left. The scene changes after these three have been defeated. A Dug and Bred will now be kneeling, soon followed by an Axl. Next a Bred, Two P and J approach from the right, followed by a Simons from the right. In this area there's a crate at the top of the screen, which you can break any time. Proceed. A G. Oriber charges in from the right (dropkick him), followed by a Wong Who from the right who just walks. Next, a Dug from the left, and a Bred from the right. Lastly, a Two P and Hollywood come from the left. Again there's a crate in this scene in the upper right hand corner, and it always contains a knife. The scene changes again. There's a stack of tires which always contains a BBQ with a J kneeling in front of them. A Simons is leaning against the wall, followed by a Sid coming from the right. Now a Jake, Dug and Slash from the right. Lastly, a Two P from the right. Proceed, and the boss, Thrasher, breaks through the door. For tips, see the Boss Strategies section. When you begin to get the better of Thrasher, he'll jump onto the wall twice and whistle for enemies to help him. The first time the enemies that appear are a Sid from the left and a Simons from the door, followed by a Jake from the door. The second time he whistles he summons a J, El Gado and F. Hollywood from the left. After that, Thrasher should be easy to finish off. 2. Subway/Park Begin by proceeding. The first enemies you come across are a J from the right, Slash from the left and Sid from the right. Next a Jake, Axl and El Gado approach from the right. In this scene there are two drumcans. Break them before you move on. A Billy approaches from the right, then you'll hit the end of the screen. Here a Simons and J attack from the right, and the first Andore Jr. of the game from the left. Now, the scene changes to the inside of the train. A Dug and a Bred are sitting on the couch, and a Bred approaches from the right. Next a J and Slash from the right and a Two P from the left. Proceed. Next a Jake will be standing against the wall and a Dug will be sitting on the couch. Now a J from the left, and a Holly Wood and Sid from the right. Now a Billy from the left and the first Andore of the game charging from the right (get out of the way or dropkick him). Finally a Holly Wood attacks from the left. In this scene there are two barrels. Smash them both, then proceed. Now you'll see a Simons standing with a Bred and Dug kneeling at his feet. Now a Holly Wood and Billy from the left, and finally a Two P from the left. Proceed and you'll find yourself at the end of the train, with two barrels against the wall. Break them. A Billy and El Gado approach from the right, and lastly a Sid, El Gado and charging Andore from the left. After they're defeated, the train screeches to a halt and you find yourself in the sewers. There's a barrel in the upper-left hand corner that always contains a BBQ. There's also a Jake standing against the wall and a Two P approaching from the right. Next a Billy and El Gado from the right. Then proceed, and you'll find you're already at the end of the sewers. With your back to the wall, you should have no trouble dispatching the Slash, Jake and Two P that attack from the left. After that, the scene changes to a boxing ring, and when you walk over to the right side you're greeted by Katana, the second boss. See the Boss Strategy section on how to beat him. He is the only boss that doesn't have any other enemies fighting with him. Next you get a bonus level. You are presented with a car, and 30 seconds to demolish it. You can do it with your own body or with the use of a pipe laying in front of the car. You get points for destroying the car, and 500 points for every second remaining on the clock. If you do destroy it, a Bred will happen upon you too late and slump to his knees crying and say, "Oh, my car". 3. Westside As always, begin by proceeding to the right. A Bred and Dug will attack from the right, along with a J from the left. Next a Two P from the right and a Jake and Andore Jr. from the left. Then an Andore from the right, and a Simons from the right and J from the left. Proceed and break down the Club door with any attack. Inside, a Holly Wood attacks from the right and a Bred from the left. Then a Dug from the right and El Gado from the left. Then you'll get a Simons from the right. Now a G. Oriber will come from the right, and at the same time a Bill Bull from the left. You'll get a Slash and Simons from the right and Dug from the left, followed by a charging Andore Jr. from the right. Finally, an El Gado attacks from the left. In this scene there are two barrels at the bottom of the screen. Smash them before all the enemies are beaten. The scene now changes to a cage surrounded by barb wire. Two Andores drop down, named G. Andore and U. Andore, and they're the only such-named Andores in the game. One drops down on the left side and one on the right. It's highly recommended to throw one into the other so that they're both kept to one side of the screen. Littering the cage are a pipe on the left side and a Muramasa sword and knife on the left side. When you beat them both, you'll find yourself at the exit of the Club. Break through the door again and proceed. A Wong Who charges quickly from the left, followed by a walking G. Oriber from the left. Next a Sid and Bill Bull attack from the left, followed by a Simons from the right. Don't forget to break the drumcan here, because it always contains a BBQ. Proceed, where you'll find a Bred to the right and a Dug to the left, then a J from the right, Jake from the left and Simons from the right. Finally, a Two P attacks from the left. Proceed. Billy and J attack from the left and Sid from the right. Proceed to meet Edi .E., the boss of the level. For tips on beating him, refer to the Boss Strategy section. The enemies that appear while fighting Edi .E. include Jake from the left, followed by a Sid from the left, J from the left and G. Oriber from the left. 4. Bay Area Proceed to the right, and you'll happen upon a J kneeling, a Bred sitting on the bench and a Two P attacking from the right. This is followed by another Two P from the right, Axl from the left and Bred from right. Proceed. A Dug is sitting on the bench, a Simons is standing next to him and a Bred approaches from the right. Next comes two more Breds from the right, a Dug from the left and a Dug from the right. Finally a Jake from the right, then proceed. In this area you'll be swarmed by fat guys. Here we go: A G. Oriber charging from the left, Bill Bull charging from the right and a Wong Who walking from the left, then a G. Oriber charging from the right, a Bill Bull from the left, then a Wong Who walking from the right and one charging from the right. Finally a Bill Bull walks from the right. Proceed. Here there are three barrels placed across the screen, and an Andore and Andore Jr. attacking from the right. Defeat them, smash the barrels and move on. You now come across two drumcans along the top of the screen. Break them and keep going. Now, three drumcans roll from the right. To avoid getting hit, you must jump when they come or smash one. At the same time, two Breds come from the right and a Dug from the left (the barrels will always hit them). While fighting them, three drumcans roll from the left. Do the same as with the last ones. Then a Bred, Simons and Jake come from the left, then a Sid jumping in from the right and a Billy from the left. Now a Simons and Billy from the left, and a Sid from the right. Next a Billy from the left, and another one from the right, along with a Sid. Proceed. You now enter a bathroom, where a Dug and Two P attack from the right, and a Simons from the left. Next a J from the right and a Two P from the left. Now a Slash and Two P from the right and a Slash from the left. Next a J and Slash from the right, and a Slash and J from the left. Proceed. Now you'll see a Jake standing against the wall, a J sitting beside him and a Two P attacking from the left. Now a Slash and Axl from the right, a Two P from the left, Bred from the right, a Dug from the left and a Simons from the right. Proceed, and the music changes and two F. Holly Woods attack from the right and one from the left. Proceed again, and a Billy jumps in from the left and a Sid from the right. A Slash follows from the left. Proceed. This time two F. Holly Wood attack from the left and one from the right, followed by another two from the left and one from the right. Next, a Slash and Two P attack from the left, and a Two P from the right. Now two F. Holly Wood from the right and one from the left. Proceed. The next area contains a TON of El Gado and Holly Wood: two Holly Wood from the right, and one from the left, followed by two El Gado from the top of the screen (watch for the shadow and don't be under it when they land), next are two Holly Wood from the right and another El Gado from above, then another El Gado from above, then a Holly Wood from the left, and finally two more El Gado from above. Proceed. Now a Dug and Simons from the right and a Bred from the left, followed by a Bred from the left, a Dug and Jake from the right, then a J from the left and a J and Two P from the right. Then a Dug and Simons from the right and a Bred from the left. Finally a Jake and Dug from the right. In this area three drumcans line the screen. Proceed. A Dug is sitting on the bench and a Two P is kneeling beside him. Now a Jake from the right, a J from the left and another Jake from the right, followed by a Slash from the right and Axl from the left. Proceed. Bred and Simons attack from the left and a Dug from the right. On the top of the screen are two drumcans; the right one always contains a BBQ. Proceed to Abigail, the fourth boss. For tips on beating him refer to the Boss Strategies section. The enemies that appear to help Abigail are a Two P and Sid from the left, a Holly Wood from the left and a Two P from the left. The second and last bonus stage of the game gives you 20 seconds to break panes of glass, by themselves or in a group. Again, 500 points are awarded for every second remaining if you break them all. 5. Uptown Proceed to the right to begin the level, and you're immediately greeted by three drumcans rolling from the left, followed by an Axl and two Two P from the right and a Two P from the left. Then a Dug from the left and a Jake from the right. Proceed, and three drumcans bounce from the right, followed by Jake, Simons and Dug from the right, Bred from the left, and a Jake and Simons from the right. Proceed under the archway. In this scene, stand near the chandelier (not under it) to make it fall and grab the BBQ that appears. Here a Jake attacks from the right, and a Dug and Simons from the left, followed by an Axl from the right. Proceed. You now reach the end of the screen, so you can put your back to it to protect yourself. Attacking are an Andore Jr. from the left, Bill Bull and G. Oriber both charging from the left, Holly Wood and J from the left, and finally an Andore from the left. The scene now changes to a boardwalk outside. Proceed. All at the same time, G. Oriber and Wong Who charge from the right and Bill Bull charges from the left. Next a G. Oriber charges from the left. Then a Sid and Billy attack from the right. Proceed. Next an Andore Jr. approaches from the right, a Two P and J from the left and an Andore from the right. Finally another Two P and J attack from the left. Proceed. Now two Js from the right, a Two P from the left and a J from the left. Next comes two Two P from the right and another J from the left. Next come two F. Holly Wood from the left and one from the right. Then two from the right and one from the left. Proceed. You meet a Dug and Simons from the right and a Jake from the left. Proceed, where you run into two more F. Hollywood from the right and another from the left. Keep going. Then it's an Axl and J from the left and a Two P from the right. Finally, an Axl from the right. Proceed to a set of large doors, which you presumably enter, because the scene changes to inside a poshy house. Proceed to the right, as usual. A Sid from the right and Billy from the left. A Holly Wood approaches from the right, and around this time a chandelier should be above your head. Let it fall and it may reveal some food. Now an El Gado from the left and Dug from the right. Move a little farther and a Simons attacks from the left and a Two P from the right. A Two P from the left and right, and a J from the left. A G. Oriber walks from the right and a Bill Bull charges from the left. Another Bill Bull charges, this time from the right, and around this time you should be under another chandelier. Keep moving. A Bred attacks from the right and a Dug from the left. Now a Jake from the right and a Simons from the left. In this area there are two drumcans; smash them both and then proceed. Three drumcans roll from the right, so smash them or get out of the way. Next an Andore Jr., Two P and J attack from the left and an Andore from the right. Next a Holly Wood attacks from the right. Proceed, and three drumcans bounce from the left. Next, a Bred from the right and a Two P, J and Wong Who from the left. A G. Oriber charges from the right and a Simons approaches from the right as well. Next it's an Axl and Jake from the right. Proceed, and watch out for the two Holly Wood that drop from the ceiling. Next it's El Gado from the right and Bred from the left, followed by Dug from the left and Jake from the right. Next up is a Bred and Dug from the right and a Jake from the left. In this area there are two drumcans; smash and proceed, where you find another drumcan. Break it and keep going. You now reach another large set of doors, and you can use these to protect your back from attacks. Sid, Billy and Two P attack from the left, followed by a Simons from the left and a Holly Wood dropping from the air on the left side. Next is an El Gado dropping from the air on the right side. Next is an F. Holly Wood, Sid, Billy and El Gado from the left. Finally, a Holly Wood from the left. After he's defeated, the scene changes again. You now appear to be on the top floor of the mansion. Proceed. You're confronted by a Dug from the right and a Bred to the left. Now it's Jake from the left, Simons from the right and Bred from the left. Finally, a Dug from the right, and now you can proceed and smash the single drumcan along the way. Now it's Sid and J from the left and Billy from the right. Now it's a Two P from the right, and you can proceed. Next is Jake and Two P from the right and Andore Jr. from the left. A little further on an Andore attacks from the right and a G. Oriber charges from the left. Next a Sid from the left and a J from the right. A Billy jumps in from the right, and then it's time to proceed. An Andore Jr. walks in from the right, Two P walks from the right and Andore does a butt stomp from the right. Watch out for Andore because you can't see him until he's in the air. There's also a chandelier here which will fall, revealing food. Next is a Simons from the right and a Sid from the left. A Billy jumps in from the right, and it's time to proceed onto the final boss, Belger, who is riding some kind of machine and holding Jessica. Hit him with any attack to knock him off and into battle. For tips on defeating him, refer to the Boss Strategies section. The enemies that help out Belger are, in order, Jake from the left, Dug from the left, J from the left, Two P from the left, Andore from the left, and Billy from the left. After you've defeated all of those, it's just you and Belger. Beat him and you've finished the game and saved Jessica. G. Boss Strategies Slum - Thrasher Thrasher is a very easy boss to defeat. Keep attacking him with any attack until he jumps on the wall and whistles for back-up. Begin by attacking the enemies he calls, but watch out for Thrasher when he jumps back off the wall, because he comes in with a dropkick. The best strategy is to attack an enemy, but as soon as you see Thrasher move off the wall, move up or down (NOT left or right). During the fight he'll jump on the wall once more, and after that it'll be just you and him. Uptown/Park - Katana Katana is the only boss that fights without any help, even though he does have two swords. First, remember that it's senseless to just punch Katana for a couple of reasons; one, they have almost no effect, and two, to do so you need to get in front of him, which is something you should never do. Always stay directly below or above him and move up or down to grab him. For Cody, Shoulder Throws and Knees do big damage, and any of Haggar's grab moves do too. As soon as you knock Katana down, stand above or below him, because he'll charge at you. If he puts his head down when he charges, he's easier to grab when he comes for you. Finally, when hit he'll drop a sword. You can pick it up and use it, but I wouldn't recommend it. Just go for grab moves. Westside - Edi.E. Just as you spot Edi.E., grab him and throw or suplex him to the left side of the screen. By doing this you're keeping both him and the enemies that come to help him on one side of the screen, and that's a big help. Again, punches are not recommended, because when you try to punch him he'll grab you and hammer on you with his billyclub. The best offense is dropkicks. Just be warned that you need to jump in for dropkicks early; if you wait too long Edi will catch you in mid-air. If you can grab him, any of those moves work well also. When Edi is down to his last life bar (yellow), he takes out a gun and begins to shoot at you. What he does now is move to one side of the screen and try to shoot at you, and if you're not straight across from him, he moves to the other side of the screen and tries again. If he can't shoot you then, he'll move back to the other side. All you have to do is make sure Edi is not straight across from you, and then when he runs to the other side, meet him halfway and grab him. When he's using the gun he won't try to attack you with the billyclub. Bay Area - Abigail Abigail looks a lot like an Andore, with a different face. He begins by charging from the right, so you can grab and throw him. Get him over to the left side of the screen, and move yourself to the far right, so that you can keep him and all his buddies to the left of you. The best offense against Abigail is dropkicks. He has two moves; he charges at you, and grabs you and throws you. The way to avoid being thrown is not to get in front of him, so I don't recommend trying any punches. Instead, wait until he charges, then try a dropkick. When he gets back up he'll charge again, so give him another dropkick. Repeat until Abigail is defeated. A small note: sometimes when Abigail charges he turns red and screams. When he does this he's very easy to dropkick. If he just charges without turning red and screaming, you have to get off a dropkick earlier than usual or he may punch you out of mid-air. When he's red he won't try to punch you. Finally, it's pretty easy to throw other enemies into Abigail to buy yourself some time. Uptown - Belger Hit Belger to make him drop Jessica. You'll notice Belger jumps around a lot and he's pretty tough to grab. He also has a gun that shoots metal arrows that he can't drop and uses for the entire fight. The best offense against Belger is to grab him and execute any of those moves. Always stay on the same side of the screen as him, because when you're on the other side he'll quickly jump to your level and shoot at you. If he hits you, he fires again as soon as you get up, so it's hard not to die in that situation. Also, when staying close to him, don't try to punch him, because as soon as you start punching he shoots arrows straight into the air, and by the time you're finishing your punches they rain down on top of you. All of the enemies that come to help him enter from the left. It's risky, but it's possible to trick Belger into shooting his own men with the arrow gun as well. It's better to just stick with Belger himself though, and deal with the flunkies whenever they get close to you. When he's down to his last life bar (yellow), he stays on the right side of the screen, because there's a conveniently placed window there and the script says he's supposed to go through it. Once you put him through it (you'll automatically do it when all his energy is gone), you've finished the game. Congratulations. H. Frequently Asked Questions Q: Who's the best character to use? A: Well, both Cody and Haggar have strengths and weaknesses. Cody is quick but does less damage, and Haggar is stronger but slower, and also recovers less quickly from being hit. Overall, I think Cody is a better character to use. Q: Can I hit Thrasher when he's on the wall? A: Nope, he can't be touched then. Q: Arrghhh! Two P and J keep punching me, backing off, then punching again! Any suggestions? A: They can be pretty frustrating at times. The best strategy is to keep them to one side, and then they're no problem. Often, this is easier said than done. One thing you could try is dropkicking the Two P and J on one side, and then moving to the OTHER side of them. Now they're all on one side. Q: Slash and Axl keep blocking my attacks. What do I do? A: They can be defeated by punches, but a much easier approach is to grab them. Just be careful that they don't hit you while you're trying to do so. Q: What's the best way to avoid the rolling barrels? A: Well, you have two options: destroy them or jump over them. Personally, I destroy them with a special attack. I do this because even though you lose some energy by using your special attack, one of the broken barrels usually contains some food, so many times you'll end up with more energy than you lost. Also, jumping over them is sometimes tricky, especially with Haggar. Q. In the third level, I'm having a lot of trouble with the two Andores in the cage. Any tips? A: These two Andores are a lot easier with Cody. When using him, just grab the Andore on the left, throw him into the Andore on the right, and stand facing the two of them and punch away. They shouldn't be able to touch you. The Andores can run between Haggar's punches, however, so you'll have a harder time. If they trap you in a corner, the possibility of dying fast exists, because they become very aggressive. Picking up a weapon is not necessary. As a rule, never stand between the two Andores. Q: What does Edi.E spit on the ground? A: It's gum, and you can actually pick it up to restore your entire life bar at any time during the battle. All other gum in the game only restores one-ninth of your life bar. Q: Is there a limit as to how many enemies can be on-screen at one time? A: Yep, it's three. You'll notice in my walkthrough that in areas with more than three enemies scheduled to appear, the first three listed appear first. Every time an enemy is defeated, the next enters until all enemies for that scene have entered and been defeated. Q: In the first bonus stage, should I wreck the car with my fists or the pipe? A: The pipe is quicker, especially if you're Haggar. Haggar, when using the pipe, will always be able to destroy the car 2-3 seconds faster than Cody. Q: In the Bay Area, I'm having trouble with all the fat guys. When I try to grab one, another guy charges at me. What do I do? A: Don't grab them. It's very tough to defeat three fat guys by grabbing them individually, because as soon as you pick one of them up, the other guys charge at you. Simply get all three to one side of the screen, and punch away. If one charges at you, hit him with a dropkick. Q: Is there any way to take a weapon to the next scene? A: Nope, you have to drop it. Q: Are there any codes or secrets in this game? A: Only one that I know of, and that's a secret options menu. Look in the next section to find out how to access it. I. Secrets Only one that I know of, a secret options menu. To access it, press and hold the L and R buttons on the title screen and press Start. You'll be brought to a blue screen called "Option Mode". Here's what each does: DIFFICULTY A: changes the difficulty for player 1, from easy (1) up to hard (8). DIFFICULTY B: hmm........this would seem to suggest it changes difficulty for player 2, but there is no player 2.............. PLAYER: Sets the number of starting lives, from 1 to 9. EXTEND: Sets the conditions under which an extra man is awarded. Choices include 200000 every (an extra man every 200 000 points), 100000 only (an extra man at 100 000 points, and never again), and nothing (no extra man awarded under any condition). MUSIC: This is a music test, which lets you listen to all the tracks in the game. There are 19 to choose from. SOUND: A sound effects test, letting you listen to all the sound effects used throughout the game. There are 53 to choose from. STEREO: Turns stereo sound On or Off. EXTRA JOY: Default setting is off. When on, your special move is executed by pressing A instead of B+Y. EXIT: Back to the title screen. That's the only secret I know of. If anybody knows any more, mail me. J. End Game Sequence (Spoiler) In this section, I'll just explain what happens when you finish the game, including dialogue from each character. Don't read if you want to find out on your own. You hit Belger through the window in the last stage, and you hear him hit the ground far below. Haggar is shown holding his daughter, Jessica, and the following words are spoken: Jessica: Oh, father, I was so scared! Haggar: I'm so glad to see they didn't hurt you. I'm so sorry, Jessica. I thought I'd lost you like I lost your mother. I'll never let anything bad happen to you again. Jessica: I love you, father. Haggar closes his eyes right before the scene ends. The credits then begin to play, and the scene changes to Cody walking to the left, back through the last level. After the credits end, Jessica runs up to Cody from behind, and calls for him to stop. When he turns around, the view switches to a view of Cody's sneakers and Jessica's high heels, and they begin to talk: Jessica: Where are you going? How can you just walk away now? Cody: I want to stay here with you Jessica, but I can't...not while evil still stalks the streets. Jessica: Oh, Cody... Jessica then leans up on her toes and it appears she kisses Cody. In the lower corner of the screen the words END appear. You then input your score (just as if you had died), and a screen appears saying, "Thanks for playing! Presented by Capcom." You are then returned to the title screen. M. Credits, Copyright and Contact Info This Final Fight FAQ is Copyright 1999 by Matt Hayden.
