FIFA Soccer (e) ERSETZEN

_FIFA SOCCER_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #2

Q: Not getting any voice commentary.
A: Create a DOS Boot Disk and remove the EMM386 line. This should free up an
additional 250k of XMS and allow it to work.
Q: Game appears to be playing very slowly, and I have a dual port gamecard.
A: If your game card is programmable, turn up the speed (Mhz) on the card. If
card is
not programmable, then be sure that a joystick is plugged into both ports. If
a second
joystick is not available, disconnect the gamecard and plug joystick into
soundcard
port. Refer to your soundcard documentation for information.

_Kasparovs Gamebit_

DOWNLOAD PATCH

Q: After typing GAMBIT and pressing Enter, the screen goes black and I have to
   re-boot.
A: This is not a lock-up. What is happening is that the video card you have
does not
support 640X400 mode and the game cannot execute. Type GAMBIT MCGA and
press Enter. If the game comes up then load a VESA driver. If you don't
have one
you need to contact your video card manufacturer to receive one.
Q: When I run the game the graphics are in Low Res mode.
A: You need to load a graphics VESA driver prior to running Gambit. If you do
not
have one contact your video card manufacturer.
Q: I get the message "Error in script line ####" when I try to run Gambit.
A: You need to delete the program completely and reinstall. Also, you can send
in
your disks to Warranty for a free revision.
Q: After installing the program I get "Unable to read default drive".
A: This is an issue when you install Gambit on a drive higher than D:. The
install
program lets you install the program on any drive you wish, but when you try
to run
the program, the above message will appear. You must reinstall the program
on C:
    or D:
Q: I made a good or bad move and Kasparov is about to comment on it. Just before
his picture starts to talk the game locks-up with a dark picture in the
coach's
    window.
A: You have selected the incorrect sound card. Type INSTALL in the Gambit
directory and select Configure Digital Sound Device.
    1. SoundBlaster users need to choose CREATIVE LABS SOUNDBLASTER not
       SOUNDBLASTER CLONE.
    2. Pro Audio Users have to select PRO AUDIO 16 not SOUNDBLASTER CLONE.
    3. Before you press Enter to choose the card press C and set the ADDRESS to
220, the IRQ to whatever their IRQ is set to and DMA to 1.
    4. Now EXIT to the Gambit directory, type GAMBIT and press Enter. If it
still locks
up follow the troubleshooting section on p.22.
Q: As I play against some opponents, you seem to disapear after I win or lose
against them. Other files seem to disappear.
A: You must have FILES=30 and BUFFERS=50 in CONFIG.SYS.
Q: I load my VESA driver, but the game still comes up in lo-res.
A: Some video card manufacturers do not support the video mode of 600 X 400 or
640 X 400. Contact your video card manufacturer and request a new driver
that
   supports this graphic mode.

_Labyrinth of Time_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #

Q: How can I get into Hi-Res graphics?
A: In order to run Labyrinth in Hi-Res you must first have a video card that
supports
the VESA standard. This card can access VESA either directly (a VESA local
bus)
or by loading a VESA software driver. Contact your video card manufacturer
in
   order to locate this driver.
Q: One way or another this game locks up.
A: These lockups are usually related to the video card or the sound card. You
can
try typing LAB V Q at the CD-ROM drive prompt. If the game works then locate
a
VESA driver from your video card manufacturer and also check the I/O Address
of
220, IRQ 5 and DMA 1 on your sound card.
Q: How is memory handled in Labyrinth?
A: Labyrinth will work with either 2 Megs of EMS or XMS (preferably XMS). If any
EMS is allocated it will take priority. For example, if you have 1.5 Megs of
EMS
and 16 Megs of XMS, Labyrinth will choose to reside in the EMS area and this
can
cause a lock up. The best solution is to make the boot in the Technical
Reference
card that came with Labyrinth or add the NOEMS parameter to EMM386 in the
   config.sys.
Q: No sound and I get the mesage "CANNOT FIND AUDIO FILE"?
A: The game requires a SoundBlaster or compatible card. Also check to be sure it
is set to default I/O Address 220, IRQ 5 or 7 and DMA 1. If you have all
these
correct settings then you probably have a conflict with another device
sharing
the same I/O, IRQ or DMA. Check all other devices for this conflict.

_Magic Carpet_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #3

Q: I get no sound effects from a creative labs AWE32
A: Try setting it up as a SoundBlaster Pro
Q: The game locks up on me using a Flight Stick Pro.
A: Remove the joystick line from your AUTOEXEC.BAT and try the mouse, which
is the preferred mode of play
Q: How do I switch into High-Res Mode?
A: Press "R" while in flight. You MUST have 16 mb RAM.
Q: If I miss a spell in one world will I be able to pick it up later?
A: Yes. Spells repeat in subsequent missions.
Q: My castle has stopped sending out balloons?
A: Balloons can only store a limited amount of mana, at which point you must
expand
your castle by firing another castle spell at it
Q: What is the Stereogram mode?
A: This is similiar to the poster phenomenon you may have seen in the malls. You
must stare at one spot in the screen and eventually the view will turn into
3D
perspective. This may not work for everyone.
Q: The game freezes and dumps me into DOS when accessing the spells screen.
A: The game cannot be run from the hard drive. You must run the game from the
   CD and have MSCDEX.EXE loaded.

Q: The game freezes or locks up.
A: Most likely a memory conflict. Make the DOS Boot Disk described in the
reference
card, delete C:\CARPET.CD, and then run the game.

_NBA Live 95_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Q: I get a "Virtual Path Speech" error when running NBA 95?
A: Make sure you do NOT have a SET BLASTER line in your autoexec.bat file. If
you do, have them make the boot disk and remove the line from your
autoexec.bat
file. Then reinstall the game and select SOUNDBLASTER as your sound card
choice. When you start the game, you will get a message that says
"Environment
string not set properly", but you should be able to get into the game. You
will not
    get sound.
Q: The graphics seem choppy in High Res mode, or it slows gameplay.
A: This mode is related to a combo of soundcard, video card, RAM, and CPU.
Anything less than a Pentium will require an accelerated Video card to run
   smoothly in High Res mode.
Q: Why aren't Barkley and Robinson in the game?
A: Some players have contractual obligations with other companies that prohibit
them from being included in our game.
Q: I get the message "ReserveMem - Out of Memory" when running or installing
   NBA 95.
A: This indicates an incompatibility with your video card. Most likely you are
loading
a software VESA driver, which should be disabled in AUTOEXEC.BAT. If not,
then try running the universal VESA driver included with the game before
running
NBA 95. From your CD prompt type: \UNIVBE\UNIVBE.
Q: When playing the game, the sound skips, & the mouse is jumpy. I have a game
   card installed on my system.
A: Probably a conflict with your game card. Remove the game card and plug your
joystick into the sound card port.
Q: What are the different screen resolutions?
A: Normal mode (low res) is 320x200
Wide Angle (high res) is 640x480

_NHL 95_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration # 1

Q: I get a "Could not read ALLFILES.TXT" message?
A: This error is caused by the system not reading the CD-ROM drive properly. If
you
get this error make sure that all of the CD drivers are included on their
boot disk,
or the NHL CD is in the machine.
Q: I get an "Insufficient Memory" message when trying to run NHL Hockey?
A: The game requires 3.5 megs of free memory. Make a DOS Boot Disk as described
in your manual. If you have already made a Boot Disk, then delete the game
from
your hard drive and reinstall it after booting up with the Boot Disk. You can
also
lower your /M: parameter on your MSCDEX line in AUTOEXEC.BAT to /M:4 for more
memory.
Q: My joystick is not operating properly.
A: Make sure it is plugged into your sound card port. If you have more than one
joystick port in your machine then one must be disabled for it to work
properly.

_Noctropolis_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #

Q: When attempting to install I get an "Insufficent Memory" error.
A: Create the DOS Boot Disk described in the reference card to free up the
memory required by the game to run.
Q: I cannot find the Butcher Shop?
A: Ask Newspaper salesman on Main Street about the butcher. The shop will then
   appear.
Q: I cannot seem to get digital sound and/or music with my sound blaster
compatible
   card?
A: Noctropolis is designed for Sound Blaster and 100% compatibles for music, SB
and
Pro Audio Spectrum for sound and speech.
Q: I get a "command.com" allocation error.
A: Check your sound card I/O Address. For best results set to default (220h)
Q: I am having trouble locating the clerk at the Hall of Records.
A: You have to click on the clerk who is represented by a tiny silouette.

_PGA Tour Golf 486_

IBM-CD
Version 1.1

Boot Configuration # 3

Q: The game locks up during play.
A: Memory managers can lock the game up due to a conflict. You should delete the
game from your hard drive, and then make the DOS Boot Disk in the manual.
Q: I can't get the backspin to work.
A: One can only get backspin with the irons. Backspin is not available for the
Woods and the putter. Backspin will be most notable for the higher clubs -
lob
wedge, sand wedge, etc. - and almost insignificant for the lower clubs - 1-4
irons.
Backspin can be implied in one of two ways:
 1. with the mouse, click and drag backwards with the right button.
 2. with the keyboard, while holding the shift button, press the down-arrow.
Q: The snap around view doesn't seem to work?
A: Create a DOS Boot Disk. This is related to not enough memory.

_Relentless_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration # 1

Q: I get a lock up after the Adeline logo screen.
A: This will happen with video AND sound conflicts. Install with no sound to
narrow
down if it is a sound card difficulty or not. For sound card difficulties
try using the
regular Soundblaster setting instead. Another recommendation would be to flip
flop
the IRQs from 5 to 7 or vice versa.
If you have video difficulties try the vesa compatible choice and make sure
that you run a software
Vesa driver as well. The driver needs to be for dos applications only.
Contact your video card manufacturer for
 more information concerning Vesa drivers.
Q: I have a sound blaster pro card and I get scratchy sound.
A: Usually the game is running under the Sound blaster pro 2 choice. If you try
sound
blaster pro 1 this should solve the difficulties.

_Seawolf_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #4

Q: I did a "full install", but can't get any music. The sound seems to work.
A: If doing a full install, the music will come only from the CDrom. If you do
not have
a CD-Audio cable installed you should select CD audio/No music as your choice
in
MIDI Driver Setup. Either headphones or speakers must be connected to the
actual CDrom jack in order to hear music.
Q: When I try to run the game, it says I don't have enough file handles set in
the
Config.sys. My files are at least 20 or higher?
A: This is related to the hard drive space available before installing. You
need at
least 19 megs (45 if using disk compression) of free hard drive space before
you
install Seawolf. If you have less than the required amount there will be
multiple
files missing after installing and will receive "Files Must Be Set To 20"
message.
Q: Music is playing fine, but the waterfall display has no sound. It used to
have sound.
A: This is probably an IRQ conflict. The game was designed to work with IRQ 5
or 7.
If you have a Pro Audio 16 card or a SoundBlaster compatible, try selecting
SoundBlaster, Creative Labs for the Sound driver.
Q: Customer tries to install Seawolf and there are strange things happening or
it will
   not install completely.
A: Probably the FILES= line is either missing or less than 20 in the CONFIG.SYS
file.
Add FILES=20 to your CONFIG.SYS file. Refer to page 12 in the reference card.
After this you must delete Seawolf and reinstall it. Also, make sure you have
40
megs of hard drive space free before you install if using disk compression.
Q: I am playing in Periscope View and when a missile launches or a ship gets
hit, the
game locks up and the music still plays.
A: I am using a SoundBlaster 16. Type SETUP and press Enter in the Seawolf
directory and you can select SoundBlaster CLONE from there as a temporary
solution. There is a patch available for machines with this problem.
DOWNLOAD PATCH.
Q: I type in Seawolf to get into the game and it gives me a "Fatal Error..."
message.
   My sound drivers tested fine.
A: You need to type SETUP and press Enter in the Seawolf directory. Now select
your sound driver or SoundBlaster, Creative Labs. Type Y to test the
sound driver. After it plays 2 times type Y DO NOT PRESS ESC. Now select
your
music driver and press Enter. Type Y to test the music. Now type Y again to
verify
that it worked DO NOT PRESS ESC. Now type Seawolf and press Enter. If it
still doesn't work then delete Seawolf, free up 40 megs of hard drive space
then
   reinstall.
Q: IN MODEM PLAY, Game locks up and I am using COM 3 or COM 4.
A: Try using COM1 or COM2. COM3 and COM4 are only parallels of COM1 and COM2
so there may be some timeouts when trying to connect. The maximum baud rate
is
9600 baud. It will not support 14400 baud.
Q: More information on weapons.
A: Harpoon missile: Use this for any surface vessel's Tomahawk missile: Use
this for
any surface vessels Sealance missile: Use this for any surface vessel's or
submarines Long Range: This torpedo should be used for targets farther than 5

miles. High Speed: This torpedo should be used for targets less than 1 mile.
Wakehoming: These lock on to the wake of a vessel and destroy it. Stasis:
This
torpedo waits at the bottom until a ship passes over it and it becomes active
and
   destroys the ship.
Q: Sound problems with my SoundBlaster 16 card.
A: We have a patch available. DOWNLOAD PATCH.
Q: I am getting scrambled graphics, a black screen, or lockups during the game.
A: This is due to an incompatible graphics card. Most likely you have an
accelerated
graphics card such as a Diamond Viper or ATI Ultra. Has occured on a few
other
non-accelerated cards. If game is locking up, check sound card and settings

and/or test the game with no sound and no music to see if audio is the cause
of the lockup.
SB16 users should use SB clone driver under setup if you do not have SB 16
patch.

_Space Hulk_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #5

Q: After typing HULK at the \HULKCD prompt I get an "ERROR IN MIDI CODE."
A: Only true soundblaster cards are supported. If using a creative labs sound
blaster
card: edit the HULK.BAT file in the HULKCD directory as follows, A220 I5 D1.
The I5 (Irq 5) is the important part as the game may be detecting your card
at 7
Q: After typing HULK at the \HULKCD prompt I get an "NOT ENOUGH MEMORY
   ERROR."
A: The program requires 2.5mb of XMS free and 580k base memory. Follow steps in
the reference card to make a boot disk.

_Syndicate PLUS_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #

Q: Can I do research on more than one item at a time?
A: You can only conduct research on one weapon or mod at a time. There is no way
to conduct research on two different things at one time.
Q: How do I control the movement and destination of the various vehicles in
   Syndicate.
A: All you need to do is click the RIGHT SIDE of the road and the vehicle will
go to
that point. Often, problems are caused by the player clicking on the left
side of
the screen, thus causing the car to turn around and attempt to work its way

   back to the original destination.
Q: How do I get both sound effects and music to work at the same time.
A: If you have a Soundblaster soundcard you should be able to get both sound fx
and music to work. Users with Non-Soundblaster soundcards may be able to get
one or the other but not always both. If the sound and music aren't working
correctly you can try typing the following from the SYND prompt:
      C:\SYND>MAIN_/IIRQ5 then press ENTER.
Q: How can I access a city or exit from a city that is enclosed by steel
barriers.
A: The only way to enter or exit a city that is guarded by steel gates is by
car. There
is no way to blast through the gates or get around them without a car. If you
get
stuck inside or outside of a city and have destroyed your vehicle you will
have
to hit escape and start the mission again. There is no other way to enter or
leave.
Q: Can I install Syndicate on a drive higher than G:, such as H:, I: or J:.
A: No. Syndicate only supports installation on drives up to G:.
Q: I get either no music, no sound effects, or no music and no sound effects
with a
   non-Soundblaster sound card.
A: Syndicate supports TRUE Soundblaster sound cards only. Users with other sound
cards may receive music, sound effects, music and sound effects, or no sound
at
all. Try loading the game by typing:
MAIN /IIRQ5 at the SYND prompt.
This should enable most people to at least receive sound effects or music
   from their respective sound cards.
Q: What scale is being used to determine how long it takes to complete a
mission.
A: Syndicate is not based on real time. Time passage is surreal and has more to
do
with good game play than real-time accuracy.
Q: Is there Modem Play in Syndicate Plus?
A: This game only supports multiplayer through a Netbios compatible network.
There
   is no modem play.
Q: I have my network running, but the multiplayer option is not available. What
do I
   have to do?
A: Each machine must have the original Syndicate and American Revolt installed
You
must have all the network drivers loaded and you also need to run NETBIOS.EXE
from each computer prior to running the American Revolt. If NETBIOS is

not run then the Multiplayer Option will not be active.
Q: How can I play the original Syndicate game after I install American Revolt?
A: At the Synd prompt, type RESTSYN and press Enter. This will restore your
original Syndicate files. If you want to play the American Revolt again, you
need
to install that disk. If you want to have both games at the same time, you
can
create 2 different directories. Have Syndicate be SYND1 and American Revolt
be
   SYND2

_Theme Park_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #2

Q: I get an "Allocation Error" when attempting to install or run Theme Park.
A: You should create a DOS Boot Disk, described in the reference card. This game
requires 3200k free XMS to run. Some 4 meg machines will have to turn off
devices
in their CMOS to free up enough memory.
Q: The game locks up and restarts when I delete the Monorail.
A: You must turn on the monorail before deleting it. In order to turn on the
monorail
you must complete a full circuit of track - so you must place the monorail
where
you are able to complete a full circuit of track or you will be stuck. Save
your
current game before placing the monorail. This is documented in the manual.
Q: My mouse isn't working properly.
A: This occurs most often with Logitech drivers prior to version 6.3. Obtain an
updated mouse driver from your manufacturer. preferably a microsoft driver.
Q: The game will not run. Either locks up or kicks me into DOS during
installation or
   running the game.
A: Create a boot disk. EMM386 or other expanded memory managers will conflict
   with the game.

_Top Ten Pack_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration #4

Q: I receive a DOS/4GW Error 35 or similar when attempting to install the Top
Ten Pack.
A: There is a patch available for machines with these problems. DOWNLOAD PATCH.
Q: I get strange sounds, or a lock-up with my SoundBlaster card.
A: You can either download the SBSOUND.EXE file from Creative Labs BBS or delete
the CMS.DRV file and run the game. To download the SBSOUND.EXE file you must
   have a modem. For 2400 BAUD=408-428-6660 or 9600 BAUD=408-428-6664.
Once downloaded the driver is extracted by typing SBSOUND.

_US Navy Fighters_

IBM-CD
Version 1.0

Boot Configuration # 1

Q: Does landing the plane on the carrier using Autopilot affect the service
record?
A: No
Q: Can't get past the opening titles. I have a Diamond Viper video card.
A: The solution is to download the latest Diamond Viper drivers. The system
will
work fine with no "special" configuration files needed. Simply use the new
drivers
and type "VPRMODE VESA" before starting the program.
Q: Does copying a pilot prevent decorations and promotions?
A: No, it is not affected.
