I've seen too many reviews that state how there is no combo system
in The Ripping Friends GBA. This mini faq is here to set the
record straight.

Special moves and Ripping mode
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
_______________________________________________________________________

Each character has their own unique special move. To activate them the
character has to have a full red bar, or be in Ripping mode. To go
into Ripping mode the player must press buttons (A) and (B) together
and have a full red bar.

Whilst in Ripping mode the player character is twice as fast and can
jump further than normal. Beware though, Ripping mode only lasts for
about 5 seconds.

Chain-combo system
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
_______________________________________________________________________

The Chain-combo system was never described in the instruction booklet
and so many reviewers simply assumed there was no 'system' at all.

However there is a system and quite frankly it's the best feature of
the game! Dammit!!! ;__;

Combo's performed between the Ripping Friends are slightly more refined
than those against the baddies. This was to stop infinite combos from
occuring, two days after release I realised Slab had one mother of
an infinite! Ouch! However it only works against the baddies, Yay!

The chain-combo system works exactly like it does in any of the verses
Capcom games, especially the Marvel verses ones. Just use a different
attack right after landing one. It's all in the timing, but a tip is
to watch the characters animation on screen, rather than try to guess
when to press the button.

Manly Gauge

This is the red bar next to the Characters head. To fill it you can
either hold down attack (B) or pull off some neat combos.

When the bar is full you can either press :

(A) + (B) to go into Ripping mode
or
(L) + (R) to use your special move

During Ripping mode you can press (L) + (R) to use your special move.

CRAG
The all-rounder and the leader of the group.

Strength : 3 / 5
Speed : 3 / 5
Jump : 3 / 5

Attack : Punch
Alternate Attack : Sucker Punch
Jump Attack : Drop Kick
Jump Alt Attack : Body Slam
Special : Ground Wake Slam

(N) The Sucker Punch momentarily stuns his foe.
(N) The Body Slam is stronger than the drop kick but knocks foes away.
(N) The Ground Wake Slam only hurts foes on the ground near him.

BEST COMBO
Jumping B, B, R + B, L, B, Jumping R + B, R + L
B, R + B, R + L (hard to time I think)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

RIP
The angriest of the bunch!

Strength : 3 / 5
Speed : 4 / 5
Jump : 3 / 5

Attack : Punch
Alternate Attack : Uppercut
Jump Attack : Drop Kick
Jump Alt Attack : Shoulder Barge
Special : Taunt

(N) The Uppercut knocks foes into the air, a great set up move.
(N) The Barge is stronger than the drop kick but knocks foes away.
(N) The Taunt is really a counter, anyone that comes close to Rip is
repelled by his mighty chin. He's vulnerable from behind though.
    He's YAMAZAKI! *cough*

BEST COMBO
Jumping B, B, R + B, R + L (my favourite!)
Foe against a corner - Jumping B, B, R + B, R + B, R + L

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

SLAB
The lumbering man mammoth.

Strength : 5 / 5
Speed : 1 / 5
Jump : 2 / 5

Attack : Elbow (Shorter ranged than punch)
Alternate Attack : Vertical Throw
Jump Attack : Drop Kick
Jump Alt Attack : Overhead Slam
Special : Killer Punch

(N) The Vertical Throw, throws foes into the air, a super set up move.
(N) The Slam is stronger than the kick, stuns foes for a long time and
hits foes lying down, but it's pretty tricky to time. .
(N) The Killer Punch will kill most foes with one hit! OUCH!!! It even
hits foes from all 4 sides of him, but the range is pretty poor.

With Slab if you tap L whilst he's rolling he'll come out of his roll
into a grab, he's the only character that'll do this.

BEST COMBO
Jumping R + B, Jumping R + B, Jumping R + B etc, etc... (dammit!!!)
Jumping R + B, B, R + B, turn and R + L
Jumping R + B, B, L, B, Jumping B, Jumping R + B

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

CHUNK
The young and fast one.

Strength : 2 / 5
Speed : 5 / 5
Jump : 4 / 5

Normal Mode
         (B) Punch
   (R) + (A) Roll

Hero Mode
         (B) Low Punch
   (R) + (A) Duck

Alternate Attack : Backflip Kick switches between Modes

Jump Attack : Drop Kick
Jump Alt Attack : Jumping Knee
Special : Gameboy Advance

(N) I wanted to make Chunk a little different from the rest of the cast
and so took a little bit of Jhun from KOF and put him into Chunk.
Nobody at THQ or Creations had the faintest idea what was going on!
(N) The Low Punch, hits foes lying on the ground. It's a poor infinite
against baddies but not against the other RF. :)
(N) The Jumping Knee is a weaker attack than the kick, but it stuns.
(N) Chunks health is restored slightly when he plays his Gameboy.

WORST COMBO
Hero Mode - B, B, B, B, B, B, etc, etc...
Rubbish! - doesn't work against the RF though, its only saving grace.

BEST COMBO
Norm Mode - Jumping R + B, B, R + B, L, B, Jumping B, B, B, B, B...!!!

Complete the game and note down the password. In single player mode the
Gun turrets and Tommy guns now have alternate actions. Hold down (R)
and press fire.

Gun Turret (R) + (B) : Sprays bullets like a machine gun.
Tommy Gun (R) + (B) : Fires a spread shot of 5 bullets at once.

Also note if you want to carry the Tommy Gun around level 2, simply
press (B) to drop it, you can drop it off of building edges and pick
it up later from the ground.
