Section 1: Modes of Play
========================

STROKE PLAY: In this mode, up to four players can participate. 18 holes of
golf are played and the winner is the player with the fewest strokes.

MATCH PLAY: In this mode, the winner is determined on a per-hole basis. When
one player wins a majority of the holes, or it becomes mathematically impossible
for the opponent to win a majority of holes, the match ends. This mode could
last as little as 10 holes.

SKINS MATCH: In this mode, up to four players can participate. For each hole,
a certain number of points (determined before play and customisable) is
rewarded. The winner of each hole is rewarded these points. If a tie occurs,
points are carried over to the next hole. Points add up until there is finally
a winner of a hole. If there is no winner at the 18th hole, those points are
not added to anyone's score.

TRAINING: This mode allows you to practice any of the 18 holes on the game.

Section 2: The Controls (while making a shot during play)
=========================================================

X button: Confirms Set-Up
O button: Cancels Previous Set-Up
/\ button: Illustrates the condition of the ground

L1 and R1 buttons: When determining the direction of a shot, these buttons turn
the field at a pre-determined angle in the the left or right direction,
respectively.

Start: Returns the game to the OPTIONS menu
Select: Shows the current scoreboard

--------------
SHOTS AND PUTS
--------------

1. Place the tee (only valid for first tee shot)

Here you can set the position of the tee-shot. This allows you to change
the placement of your ball within the designated tee area position. It
can help you to get a better angle to the green on some shots. Use the
DIRECTION buttons (left and right) to select and the "X" button to confirm
your selection. By using the (up and down) DIRECTION buttons you may
return to the default tee position.

2. Set the Camera Location

By changing the camera's point of view, you can look at the area around
the player and the green. Use the DIRECTION buttons to make changes.
Once you get to the camera angle you like, press "X" to go to the next
   step.

3. Aim your shot

Use the DIRECTION buttons to adjust your aim, and press the "X" button to
   set your aim.

4. Adjust your stance

By adjusting the way you stand at the ball, this either gives the ball a
hook or a slice. You can try to hook (curve left) or slice (curve right)
to control where your ball goes. This is good for getting around trees
that are in the way or for strategically getting over hazards.

Section 3: Hole-By-Hole Tips and Strategies
===========================================

Okay, here's the main reason you're probably reading this. This section tells
you how to most effectively reach the green and lower your score for each hole.
As for myself, I usually average around a +4 or +5 whenever I play a round on
the default difficulty (beginner), NO easy shot mode, and with wind and weather
on.

***NOTE: All strategies were written while hitting from the regular tee. The
strategies should mostly be the same, but make sure you play from the regular
tee when using these.

***Another Important Note: While writing the strategies, I was using the young-
male character, who is the default character. He is selected all the way to the
left of the screen. Since each golfer has their own attributes, these
strategies were written while using this player and work best with him.

************************FIRST HALF OF THE COURSE***********************
                               (Holes 1-9)

-------------------------
Hole 1. Par 5, 473 yards
-------------------------

First, make sure and move all the way to the left of the tee-off area. Try to
hit the ball with a 1-wood, just to the right of the bunker that is to the left
of the fairway.

From here, I would suggest hitting with either a 2 or 3 iron to the right of the
water hazard. This should allow for a chip to the green and a birdie put.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 2.0

-------------------------
Hole 2. Par 4, 353 yards
-------------------------

Move to the right of the tee-off area. Hit with a 2-iron and aim for the
fairway to the right side, which has a long bunker to it's left side.

From here, aim DIRECTLY towards the hole. Hit with a club that can go about 10-
20 yards longer than the distance to the hole. This allows you to have the best
possible chip shot from the bunker. (The bunker surrounding the hole is huge
and there is almost no way to avoid and still be close.)

This hole is hard, so you should be happy with making a par here.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 4.0

-------------------------
Hole 3. Par 4, 401 yards
-------------------------

Whatever you do, MAKE SURE and move all the way to the left of the tree so you
can avoid the trees on your first shot. Hit with a 4-wood and aim for the
middle of the fairway on the left-side of the long bunker.

Now hit a club that has the ability to go 10-20 yards longer than the pin and
you should have a chip and put situation.

Par on this hole is very good, especially with the positioning of the bunkers.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 4.25

-------------------------
Hole 4. Par 3, 160 yards
-------------------------

You MUST clear the water hazard. Hit at least a 5-iron and maybe a 6-iron.
This is by no means a "gimmie" par 3 hole. If you land it in the water, you'll
be lucky to get a bogey.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 3.75

-------------------------
Hole 5. Par 4, 369 yards
-------------------------

How well you do on this hole depends on how you drive from the tee. Try and hit
it on the left part of the fairway, which leaves a good-angle-shot to the hole
without messing with the bunker. From here I'd hit between an 8-iron and a
pitching wedge, depending on how far I am from the hole.

There's a good chance you'll sink a birdie on this par 4.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 2.25

-------------------------
Hole 6. Par 5, 503 yards
-------------------------

This is a tricky hole. It has 6 sand traps and two water hazards. On your tee
shot, hit a 1-wood to the right of the first hazard and onto the fairway.
You should now be around 240-250 yards away from the hole.

From here hit a 1-wood again, at full strength, to get near the hole.

From this spot, you can chip it to the green and have a good chance at sinking
an eagle.

A lot could go right on this hole, yet a lot could go wrong

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 3.25

-------------------------
Hole 7. Par 3, 195 yards
-------------------------

Hit a 4-wood and aim for the center part of the green. This part is the closest
to you and the most reachable. It's time to chip and/or put. If you do it
well, expect a par.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 3.0

-------------------------
Hole 8. Par 4, 375 yards
-------------------------

This hole has a nice wide fairway. Aim for the bunker on your first shot.

You should now have a good angle to hit an iron onto the green from where the
ball is located.

Good chance of birdie on this hole.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 2.25

-------------------------
Hole 9. Par 4, 360 yards
-------------------------

This is another one of the tricky holes. It's possible to hit a 1-wood and make
it bounce from the fairway, over the water, and to the other side. It's not
likely, though. Even still I like to try it.

I actually made the shot while writing this. You know it's going to make it
across if the announcer says, "Nice Shot".

You have to be extra careful around the water hazards. Don't try and hit it
from behind the first water hazard and over the second water hazard. It WILL
NOT work.

A par is very good on this hard hole.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 4.5

**********************SECOND HALF OF THECOURSE*************************
                             (Holes 10-18)

--------------------------
Hole 10. Par 4, 383 yards
--------------------------

This hole doesn't have much fairway, but even if you hit it in the rough, you
have a good shot at the hole. Just avoid the first bunker.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 3.0

--------------------------
Hole 11. Par 3, 158 yards
--------------------------

The shortest hole on the course. Just don't hit the ball too long, or you'll be
in the water. Something REALLY bad would have to go wrong if you hit it in the
first water hazard.

You should get a par.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 3.0

--------------------------
Hole 12. Par 4, 353 yards
--------------------------

Make sure and watch out for the trees to the right side of the fairway. Other
than that, this hole is easy. The second shot shouldn't be but about 120-130
yards.

Expect a par.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 2.75

--------------------------
Hole 13. Par 5, 473 yards
--------------------------

Hit your tee shot to the right side of the fairway, or you might have some trees
in your way for your second shot.

One of the holes with a good shot at getting an eagle, this is.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 2.5

--------------------------
Hole 14. Par 4, 353 yards
--------------------------

On your tee off hit a 5 iron, to be on the fairway in front of the water hazard.
From here, hit a 2-iron to reach the hole.

Expect to par this one.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 3.25

--------------------------
Hole 15. Par 4, 319 yards
--------------------------

Make sure and hit your first shot over the bunker to have a good chance at
making birdie. From there, hit an iron to the hole.

Not a hard hole. Very "birdie-able".

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 2.75

--------------------------
Hole 16. Par 4, 364 yards
--------------------------

Hit your first shot to the right side of the fairway to have the best angle to
the hole for shot number 2.

Sort of easy hole.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 2.0

--------------------------
Hole 17. Par 3, 218 yards
--------------------------

Aim for the left side of the green. There's a good chance that you can land it
there.

Not a hard hole.

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 2.0

--------------------------
Hole 18. Par 5, 474 yards
--------------------------

To me, this the EASIEST hole on the course. You can reach the pin with two 1-
wood shots in a row as long as you stay on the fairway and do not land the ball
in the first bunker. The best hole to have a shot at a double-eagle.

(Once I hit the stick on my second shot and it was 1 foot from landing in)

DIFFICULTY (1-5): 1.75
