0 Introduction

This section is for "what the FAQ is about" and things like that.
Feel free to skip this section.

If you like the FAQ, please send me a dollar. :-) See [0.3]

This FAQ is about Navy SEALs, the budget shooter from ValuSoft
and Jarhead Games.

0.1 A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR

There doesn't seem to be any FAQ for this budget game, so here it
comes.

This is a FAQ, NOT a manual. Not that you really need a manual to
play this budget shooter.

This USG only covers the PC Version, which is the only one that
exists.

Some of you may recognize my name as the editor for the XCOM and
XCOM2: TFTD FAQ's, among others.

Gamers who read this guide are under NO obligation to send me ANY
compensation.

However, a VOLUNTARY contribution of one (1) US Dollar would be
very appreciated.

If you choose to do so, please make your US$1.00 check or $1.00
worth of stamps to "Kuo-Sheng Chang", and send it to "2220 Turk
Blvd. #6, San Francisco, CA 94118 USA".

Or you can send a dollar to me via my PayPal account at
ksc1@aol.com. However, don't send e-mail there. Too much spam
clogged up that account.

If you don't live in the US, please send me some local stamps. I
collect stamps too.

For the record, out of ALL the FAQs I wrote (55 at last count)
over the past nine years or so, I've received exactly 25 dollars
and 6 sets of stamps, as of release of this guide. So I'm NOT
making any money off these guides, folks.

0.4 HOW AND WHEN TO CONTACT ME

PLEASE let me know if there's a confusing or missing remark,
mistakes, and thereof... If you find a question about this game
that is not covered in the USG, e-mail it to me at the address
specified below. I'll try to answer it and include it in the
next update.

Please do NOT write me for technical support. That is
Activision's job.

Please do NOT ask me to answer questions that have already
answered in this FAQ/guide. It makes you look REALLY idiotic.

I will NOT answer stupid questions like the ones above unless I'm
in a really good mood. If you send questions like that, do NOT
expect a reply.

The address below is spelled out phonetically so spammers can't
use spambots on it:

Kilo-Sierra-Charlie-Hotel-Alpha-November-Golf-Seven-Seven AT
Yankee-Alpha-Hotel-Oscar-Oscar DOT Charlie-Oscar-Mike

To decipher this, simply read the first letter off each word
except for the numbers and the punctuation. This is "military
phonetics" or "aeronautical phonetics" in case you're wondering.

This document was produced on Microsoft Word 97. Some editing was
done with Editpad (editpadclassic.com).

0.5 THE AUTHOR

I am just a game player who decided to write my own FAQs when the
ones I find don't cover what I want to see. Lots of people like
what I did, so I kept doing it.

Previously, I've written Unofficial Strategy Guides (USGs) for
XCOM, XCOM2:TFTD, Wing Commander, Wing Commander 2, Wing
Commander 3, Wing Commander 4, Privateer, Spycraft, 688(I)
Hunter/Killer. Mechwarrior 3, MW3 Expansion Pack, Mechwarrior 4,
Mechwarrior 4: Black Knight, Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed,
The Sting!, Terranova, Fallout Tactics, Starfleet Command Volume
II, DS9: The Fallen, DS9: Dominion War, Driver, Warlords:
Battlecry, Monopoly Tycoon, Dungeon Siege, and a few others. At
least count, that's 55 FAQs (this makes it 56).

To contact me, see 0.4 above.

0.6 DISCLAIMER / COPYRIGHT INFORMATION

Jarhead Games is the creator of Navy SEALs.

ValuSoft is the publisher of Navy SEALs

This USG is not endorsed or authorized by either company.

The information compiled in this USG has been gathered
independently through the author's efforts except where noted
otherwise. However, the "official" walkthru (on Valusoft's
support site) has been used to verify a lot of the information.

This document is based on the latest retail version (V1.02).

Be sure to start a new game if you apply the patch. Loading
existing savegames with the new patch can crash the game.

1.2 NS HISTORY

Jarhead Games had a history of developing budget shooters using
the Lithtech engine. They developed a series of budget shooters
known as the "Elite Forces" series for ValuSoft. Some of the
previous titles are: World War II Iwo Jima, World War II
Normandy, and Vietnam 2 Special Assignment.

Navy SEALs is about the contemporary world.

Navy SEALs II: Weapons of Mass Destruction followed later.

1.3 NS HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

Minimum requirements are:

Pentium II/300 MHz. or equivalent processor
64 MB RAM
500 MB Hard Disk Space
SVGA, high-color (16-bit)
16-bit DirectX 8 compatible sound card
8 MB DirectX 8 compatible video accelerator (capable of multi-
texturing)

Recommended specs are:

PIII/550 MHz. or above
128 MB RAM
500 MB Hard Disk Space
SVGA, true-color 32 Bit Color
16-bit DirectX 8 compatible sound card
32 MB DirectX 8 compatible video accelerator (capable of hardware
accelerated transformation and lighting)

1.4 HOW DOES NS PLAY?

NS is basically a military first-person shooter. As one of the
elite Navy SEALs, you will infiltrate enemy territory alone,
killing all enemies as you go. You may even perform some
rescues. While most segments are not timed, some segments are.

To be completely honest, NS is one of the lousier shooters. It's
NOT realistic, the AI's brain-dead, the levels are single-path
and stealth is impossible despite what the cover may suggest.

1.5 BUGS AND FIXES

There is a patch to V1.01 and V1.02. It replaces some game files.
You MUST start a new game after installing the V1.02 patch. If
you tried to load an old save with the new patch in place, you
will crash the game.

The game is very stable and never crashed even once on my test
computer, even after repeated task switching. However, there were
a few in-game glitches that cannot be reproduced.

Users of ATI graphics card should definitely upgrade to V1.01
which fixes several severe problems.

Get V1.02 patch from
http://www.valusoftsupport.com/KBArticle.asp?kbid=1318

Please note that V1.02 does NOT change the version number in the
game. The only way to know you have V1.02 vs. V1.01 is to read
the README file.

If you got the jewelcase version, you already have V1.02. Check
the README.TXT.

There are a lot of funny glitches in the game. Soldiers who got
shot and died near a wall may fall at an angle, thus lying at a
30 or 45 degree angle seemingly touching nothing. Sometimes the
kills melt into the ground (and preventing you from picking up
their rifles!) If you kill enemy at upper levels, their gun may
hang in mid-air, and so on.

NOTE: dead bodies do disappear after about 10-15 seconds. That's
not a bug, just the way this game works. You get a pool of blood
on the ground instead.

1.6 EXPANSION PACKS? SEQUELS? RELATED TITLES?

The sequel, Navy SEALs II: Weapons of Mass Destruction, is
already available in stores.

Other games in the Elite Forces series may be worth trying.

You can also try their "Marine Sharpshooter" series, which is
similar but with an AI buddy that helps you in your mission,
along with a lot of sniping.

2 Your weapons and equipment

US Navy SEALs is one of the most elite units in the world. SEALs
stand for Sea, Air, Land, which means these commandos are at home
in all three. They started as the Navy Frogmen in World War II,
which handles demolitions to help Allied forces do amphibious
assaults. Later people realized that since they can get there
without anyone the wiser, why not have them do some covert
operations? So the SEALs evolved into a covert-operations unit.
Their training gives them multiple methods of insertion into
target area. They can be parachuted in (thus "air"), or they can
infiltrate by land or by water (either swimming, or underwater
using SCUBA gear).

The SEALs are expert with almost every weapon available, though
you will be limited to only a few weapons and their ammo, ones
that you can carry, unless you pick up weapons from fallen
enemies.

Technically, SEALs never operate alone, but are instead send in
as teams. However, in this game, you are one lone SEAL against
all enemies.

From time to time, Wolfman, your "advisor", will jump in with a
few comments of his own, like this:

Wolfman says: Pay attention, squid! Knowing these may just help
you survive! Most of your fighting will be done with the AK-47
(yes, captured gun), since you get a TON of ammo for those as you
kill enemies. Save your American guns and ammo for special
occasions, like right at the beginning.

2.1 KNIFE (1: KNIFE)

The venerable K-bar, albeit Spec-Op'ed. (i.e. black) As you can
never get close enough to the enemy to use it, it's just to make
you feel good. If you CAN sneak up on somebody... Give it a whirl.

No secondary fire capability.

2.2 SOCOM (2: PISTOL)

The SOCOM's full name is Heckler & Koch Mk.23 mod 0 (the civilian
version is just plain Mk 23). This pistol uses the venerable .45
cal ACP (used in the old Colt 45!) with the base and chamber
upgraded to reliably shoot the upgraded ACP+P ammo. It has a
quick-attach silencer. You also get an extra-large magazine for
this use, with 17 rounds instead of the usual 12-round magazine.

For more information on the real gun, visit here:
http://world.guns.ru/handguns/hg12-e.htm

In terms of the game, the pertinent facts are as follows:

Magazine Capacity: 17
Rate of Fire: slow
Reload Speed: medium-fast
Secondary fire: attach / detach silencer

This is your personal side-arm, so you have access to it at all
times. You have total of 100 rounds ammo with you (17 in the gun,
83 more carried). You can choose to use the silencer or not. Use
secondary-fire button to attach/detach the silencer.

Wolfman says: With the assault rifles available, you probably
never need to touch the SOCOM, but it's a nice backup if you ran
out of bullets for the other guns. When you see enemy, shoot him
at least three times and move aside. Keep shooting until he goes
down. Reload whenever you get a chance. You'll never know when
you'll exhaust your magazine. If you manage to sneak up on someone,
put three bullets into his upper back. Going for headshots is not
recommended.

2.3 H&K MP5SD (3: SUBMACHINE GUN)

The Heckler and Koch MP5SD is the special-operations version of
the MP5 submachinegun. It has an integrated silencer with a 30-
round magazine.

In terms of the game, the pertinent facts are as follows:

Magazine Capacity: 30
Rate of Fire: fast
Reload Speed: medium-fast
No secondary fire capability

You get this gun for mission 1 Iraq and mission 3 North Korea
(for mission 2 Bosnia you get the M4). You carry total of 200
rounds (30 in the gun, 170 additional rounds)

Wolfman says: MP5SD is a nice gun when you don't have the AK-
47... yet. It has better accuracy, and doesn't wake up all nearby
guys.

2.4 M4 (4: ASSAULT RIFLE WITH GRENADE LAUNCHER)

The M4 is basically a M-16 assault rifle with the underslung
grenade launcher. Primary fire will shoot the rifle, while
secondary fire launches the grenade (don't shoot too close!)

In terms of the game, the pertinent facts are as follows:

Magazine Capacity: 30
Rate of Fire: fast
Reload Speed: medium-fast
Secondary fire: shoots the grenade (only 5 rounds!)

You get this gun for mission 2 only. You carry total of 100
rounds (30 in the gun, 70 additional rounds), and total of 5
grenades.

Wolfman says: M4 is a nice gun when you don't have the AK-47...
yet. The grenades are of use when you see 2-3 enemies together,
or against enemy jeeps. Otherwise... Stick to the AK-47.

2.5 AK-47 (5: ASSAULT RIFLE)

The Kalishnikov AK-47 is the quintessential Soviet assault rifle.
This 7.62mm gun is extremely reliable and rugged, even in lousy
conditions. It can be made relatively cheaply too. All the
enemies you kill will be equipped with one (except dogs). The
only problem... bad accuracy.

In terms of the game, the pertinent facts are as follows:

Magazine Capacity: 30
Rate of Fire: medium fast
Reload Speed: medium-fast
No secondary fire function

You get AK-47 from fallen enemies. You can carry up to 400 rounds
of ammo for this (including those in the gun) which makes this
the weapon to use at all times except for special occasions.

Wolfman says: AK-47 should be your primary weapon after you
acquire one and accumulated sufficient ammo. Initially ammo may
be a little tight, but as you learn to kill enemies with an
economy of bullets, you should have no problem collecting the
full load of AK-47 ammo and kill everybody with it.

2.6 NIGHT VISION GOGGLES

Just turn it on and turn night into... not-quite-day. Fortunately
the batteries never run out during the game. And it even works
when wet! Absolutely needed in caves, and at night.

2.7 MEDPACKS

You may locate medpacks as you explore the enemy territory. Run
over the medpack to heal you. The amount depends on the
difficulty level.

Easy 30%
Medium 20%
Hard 10%?

3 Wolfman's Tactics

Here are some tactical tips for your venture in foreign lands.

3.1 GO FOR UPPER TORSO SHOTS

Upper torso shots are the only reliable way of putting someone
down. Leg shots just doesn't work. Save the bullets for other
enemies.

3.2 KEEP YOUR MAGAZINE FULL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE

You should reload your gun whenever you see a lull in fighting.
You never know where the next enemy may be. It's BAD to run out
of bullets when there are still enemies in front of you.

On the other hand, it's a bad idea to reload in the middle of a
fight. Make sure you are in a secure spot before reloading.

3.3 PEEK AROUND CORNERS SO YOU DON'T GET SURPRISED

NS is fond of putting enemies to left and right of your path for
no particular reason, just to ambush you. Thus, peek around EVERY
corner, and look for signs of the enemy (you can barely see the
gun, etc.) before he spots you. This is especially true in
mission 3 North Korea.

(After you play the game a few times, you should have the enemy
locations pretty much memorized.)

3.4 MOVE, THEN SHOOT

To shoot accurately, shoot a couple rounds, move aside, then
shoot again.

You may see the AI do this to you. Emulate them. Fire off 3-5
rounds, strafe left or right, shoot a couple more. Better than
holding down the trigger and waste ammo.

3.5 SETUP AMBUSHES IN CORRIDORS AND CORNERS

You can setup ambushes in corridors, when enemies must come at
you single-file, making the job of shooting them MUCH easier. Go
out to offer them a peek (or shoot them!) and retreat.

Similarly, you can setup near corners and shoot them as they
round the corner.

3.6 WHEN IN DOUBT, GO IN LOW AND MOVE SIDE TO SIDE

One of the best ways to surprise someone in a room is to go in
prone and shoot up. Most of enemy shots will go over you.

If you add movement from side to side, you can avoid even more
shots.

Move from side to side also works for when you're crouched or
standing. Crouching doesn't seem to hurt your running speed.

3.7 TRACE THE ENEMY ROUTE

If you're not sure where to go, go where the enemies came from.
There really is only one major path with some side branches that
leads nowhere. If you *think* you are at a deadend, you missed
the main path.

3.8 USE THE SATELLITE TRACKER

You have a satellite tracker, use it. It's in your upper left
corner, even shows distance and direction, down to the meter.

3.9 PRISONER COMMAND: STAY PUT / FOLLOW ME

When you rescue prisoners, such as in North Korea, the prisoner
can be made to stay still. This will give you a chance to run
ahead, clean out the enemy, and then come back to get your
prisoner. Having him right behind you in a firefight is a
liability.

To have him hold still, just "activate" him. Activate him again
to cancel (so he'll follow).

4 Enemies

The enemies you encounter in NS doesn't come in that many
varieties... There's the regular soldier (armed with AK-47),
there's the occasional attack dogs, then there's the tank, the
jeep, and finally, the MI-24 Hind gunship.

4.1 SOLDIERS

These guys carry AK-47s, enough said. These will be 95% of
enemies you encounter.

Some are on patrol routes and thus will move a little, but most
will stand still waiting for you to show up.

They will shoot at you when they spot you (yes, even in the
darkest of night). Some are smart enough to move sideways. Some
of them will run at you to get closer, but some won't.

Shoot them in the torso, and grab their rifle, when safe to do
so, for more ammo.

AI is horrible in NS. Enemies will not react even when they see
their fellow guards drop dead, and will not investigate rifle
sounds. Thus, it makes no difference if you use silenced weapons
or not. They also have impossibly good eyesight, even in the
dark.

4.2 ATTACK DOGS

Attack dogs basically come after you if they see you. You can
usually shoot them from long distance. You only see attack dogs
in Iraq (mission 1).

4.3 TANK

The Russian tank is basically an immobile pillbox that you cannot
destroy (not even with your M4's grenades). You must go AROUND a
tank, and avoid their cannon shots. One shot too close will kill
you.

If you see a tank, there's a way to go around it.

4.4 JEEP

The jeeps have a heavy machine gun in the back, with a driver and
a gunner. You can grenade these (with your M4), or kill gunner
and driver. They are not much of a threat.

4.5 MI-24 HIND GUNSHIP

The gunship is another enemy you can't destroy, and it moves a
lot. You have to avoid it, and they can do a LOT of damage.
Fortunately, you only see it twice. First time (in Iraq) they
don't do much damage, but you're under a time limit. Second time
you see it (in North Korea) it can do SERIOUS damage to you...

5 Walkthru

Your first mission is into Iraq. You are ordered to locate this
reconnaissance satellite which has crashed in Iraq. Iraqi forces
likely have recovered it, and you must get the data recorder
back.

5.1 IRAQ 1 (M1M1)

Objective: Find a way to enter the river basin

You start in a very narrow "valley". Pull out your gun (either
the SOCOM or the MP5SD). Go forward slowly, and you should see
your first enemy. Kill him and grab his AK. You don't have enough
ammo yet for the AK, so switch back to MP5SD.

Keep moving until you come to a right turn, stop before the
corner. Peek around the corner. Look for cave in the higher level,
you may see someone shooting at you there. Kill him. You should
see that there are at least three cave exits overlooking you. Time
to get into the cave. Continue down and you should see the entrance
to your left.

Beware, there is one guard inside and it's really dark to see.

Head up the stairs, and you should see a big room ahead. One
guard approaches from left, shoot him. Another guard will appear
to far right. Shoot him too before he runs away. Note the two
barrels in the far end of the room. Now explore the other
branches EXCEPT the two barrels, kill guards and grab their guns.
You may even find a medpack. There's a sunken area with some UN
food crates, but those are useless.

Continue into the corridor near the two barrels. Follow it into
next area. Stick to right wall, and there's a room to your right
with a generator and 2 guards inside. Shoot them.

Explore all the rooms nearby, then continue. You'll come to an
opening where you look down into several tents. Kill enemies
there (at least two), and explore the passages. You'll find a set
of stairs going down (at least 2 guards). Explore the tents for a
medpack. You'll see a big door that's closed.

Explore the ground floor and you'll find a set of stairs going
up. Kill more guards. At the top is a "wheel". Activate it and
it will open the closed door below.

Objective: Proceed to valley basin

Come back down the stairs (or continue forward and jump on top of
those boxes to "climb" down from the ledge), and enter the door
previously closed. Continue and kill guards.

You should be in a room with a tall ladder to left. Kill guard at
ground level and on the ledge above. Climb up for a medpack.
Continue out the door to far right.

Follow the path, kill guards, and climb down the ladder.
Continue, kill more guards, climb down another ladder. Your GPS
tracker shows you're almost there... Then Area 2 starts.

5.2 IRAQ 2 (M1M2)

Briefing: Republican Guards have moved the satellite to their
stronghold. You need to get there and reclaim the satellite data
recorder (or what's left of it).

Objective: Throw the switch inside the cavern.

There's a stronghold ahead and its gates are locked. However, the
gate controls are ahead in one of the caverns. You need to find
it and open it.

Move forward, and you'll see the jeep. Feel free to shoot it, but
it'll probably escape. Kill the two guards. Grab the medpack at
the exit if you need it.

Follow the path until you come to the dead tank. Near the tank
should be a group of boulders hiding the cavern entrance. You can
see a "plank" at the entrance. You can continue down, and see a
gate blocking your path.

Go inside the cavern, and turn on the night-vis. Kill everybody
inside (total of 4 soldiers, in groups of 1, 1, and 2). The
switch is at the very end. Throw the switch, and come back out.
Turn left, and continue down.

Objective: Proceed through canyon doors to stronghold.

Go to the gate, which is now open. Kill at least two guards in
that area, perhaps more. Go through the gate.

Now you need to clear out the enemy camp. One guy is standing on
top of the brick ruins. Other soldiers are near the tents in the
distance. Kill them all. A medpack is available in the tents.

Continue down the path, watch for snipers in the upper caves
(remember, AK-47 is NOT accurate!) Eliminate soldiers as you go
and follow the satellite tracking. You are almost at the
stronghold. Take out the enemies in your way. You will come to a
black iron gate, and you move on automatically into Area 3.

5.3 IRAQ 3 (M1M3)

Mission Briefing: You're at the stronghold, and you need to get
inside, find the satellite, and get the **** out.

Objective: gain entrance to the compound

Behind you is the black iron gate, only one path ahead. Ahead of
you is a chain-link fence, and a jeep on patrol. Feel free to
take them out. Turn left, as there's a tank in the distance and
you want to keep the fence between you. Follow the fence (keeping
the rock wall to your left) You should see a backdoor with a
guard. Take him out, and go in the door, and shoot one guard.

NOTE: You could explore underground by checking the ladders to
your left, but that just means lots of guards (6-7). If you need
more ammo, feel free to try.

You are now in the compound, which has THREE floors. It's not
that hard to decipher if you pay attention.

This is level 1. To your left is a large room (2 guards?). To
your left front is the radio room (2 guards inside) Take them all
out. Note that in the radio room, you can see a window into the
other room with a switch. You can't get into that room yet. Keep
that room in mind. Go back to the door you came in through. You
should see a big double armor door in front. Go forward, crouch,
and open it. Shoot the two dogs outside, close the door. You
don't want to go out as that tank to your right is still there.
If you look to left of door you see the gate to the beach. That's
your escape route. Keep that in mind as well.

When you're done here, head downstairs into level 2.

At level 2, explore the rooms to your right and front (they're
probably locked). Your objective is at the end of corridor, and a
short set of stairs down to level 3.

At level 3, don't open the door yet. There are 3 guards inside.
Get ready. Open the door, and immediately back up to level 2.
When the guards open the door, shoot them. Then go in and finish
the third guard. Voila, there's the satellite recorder on the
table!

You may want to save now, as the rest of the mission is on a
timer.

Activate the satellite, and the timer starts, as you get a new
objective. You just dropped the demolition charge and if you
don't get the **** out you are toast.

Objective: Open armored doors to shoreline.

You have 4 (3?) minutes to escape. Run up the stairs back to
level 2, and up again to level 1. There's one door you can't open
before. It's open now (maybe a guard?). Run inside and throw the
switch at the very end. There's a medpack inside if you need it.
You also get a new objective.

Objective: Proceed to Evac Point

Now run for that double door where you killed the 2 attack dogs
before. Turn left and get out the chain link fence, and through
the now open gate. Beyond is freedom, but it's not that simple.
First you have to kill the two guards to your left, and second
you have to survive the gunship. Remember that timer is still
counting down...

The beach is composed of several "levels" and if you jump or fall
you'll injure yourself. You have to run left and right a bit to
get down to the beach.

First turn left and kill the guard to your left, grab the medpack
if you need it. Then turn and kill the guard at the lower level.
Then turn right and run all the way to the end, turn left then
left so you spot the actual path leading down. Run down to the
end, turn right and right, to down the path again, then run down
toward the beach where you see the Zodiac boat and another SEAL
in SCUBA gear. Just IGNORE the gunship and zig-zag a bit to avoid
the gunship's shots. You should be able to get to the Zodiac boat
with 30 seconds left or so. In some versions you need to
"activate" the Zodiac.

As soon as you do so, you win the mission!

Unfortunately, you go straight to Mission 2, without any rest or
awards or debriefing or such.

5.4 BOSNIA 1 (M2M1)

Mission Briefing: A group of hardline Bosnian rebels have managed
to obtain a Russian nuclear warhead. You must take the
plutonium/uranium from them, thus rendering the warhead useless.
The rebels are fighting with regular forces, and engaging them is
optional.

Objective: Penetrate outer wall of the city

NOTE: Don't get close to any tanks. In fact, put a building or a
wall between you and it at all times unless there is no other way
through.

Immediately draw your gun, slide right, and turn on your night-
vis. One guy is coming straight at you and if you don't kill him
fast you will take MAJOR damage.

Now go where he came from, and take out soldiers as you go. There
is only one path, and you can't really get lost, Just follow the
satellite tracker. However, watch out for enemies to your sides.

Go forward as the path turns right, then left. Try to stay hidden
as much as possible. You should see low stone wall to left and
high brick wall to right. There is one guy to your left and
another ahead. Turn left and keep the low stone wall on your
left. Stop at next intersection.

There should be a lighted corridor to right. Follow it, and turn
right at the end, keep going. Kill bad guys. Ruins should be to
your left. Keep the tall brick wall to right and keep going until
you see doors to your left.

Go through the first door and follow the only path. You should
emerge near a loading zone with a bunch of UN crates. This is the
loading area. Kill two guards here. Continue down the path.

Keep the high brick wall to your left, and follow the path, as
the street goes left, then right. You should find the watchtower
with cottage and tents. Kill guards. Keep tower to your left, and
go past it. The path turns right, so keep going, turn left at the
brick wall ahead, and turn right at the end of the wall. Stop at
the corner.

If you peek carefully, you should see the tank to your left,
small house to right, and ruins ahead. There's at least two
guards near the tank. Run into the ruins and kill guards there.
The tank will probably shoot at you, but he'll hit the ruins
around you. This is where you hear a lot of background gunfire.

Stay in the ruins as you find the exit on the far side. Move into
another set of ruins, kills guards, and you should see the second
watchtower. Move toward it carefully. There is a guard there,
plus ground level guards. Take them all out.

Follow the GPS, and you should see this "hole" in the brick wall
past the watchtower. There's a medpack there too if you need it.
That is your entrance into the city. Move into it, and next level
will load.

5.5 BOSNIA 2 (M2M2)

Now that you're in the city, you need to locate the sewer system
so you can use it to sneak into the Rebel stronghold.

Objective: Locate an entrance to the sewers.

Exit the tunnel into the water. Turn left and swim to the beach.
Jump out of the water. There is a ladder on the side of the dock.
Climb up, turn left, and head down the street. Kill two guards on
the street.

There is an open door on the left. Go through the door and go up
the stairs. Follow the path into another room, with view of
balcony and courtyard below. Shoot guards in the courtyard, then
make your way onto the balcony and jump to courtyard below.

Follow the door to your right, and get into smaller courtyard.
Look in corner and you'll see a grate where you can climb down
into the sewers.

Objective: Proceed to the next waypoint.

Climb down, and shoot guards. Turn right at first intersection.
Look to your left and shoot two guards in an alcove. Climb up into
the alcove, and you'll see a ladder in a TINY space in the back
that goes up to street level. Climb up but don't get into the
street. The two forces are having a big firefight in front, next
to the tower. There's a tank beyond it.

You have to come out here or later, it doesn't matter. I'd stay
near the top and shoot any one coming around the corner. You
should get a full load of ammo here if you are careful and avoid
getting too close to the tank's shots.

When you're pretty sure no one else is coming, climb out, and
turn right 90 and go through the open door to your right. You will
bypass the tank. Beware of someone coming up behind you. Go
through the building and out the other door.

You should see a building ahead with a door, and streets leading
left and then right. To left is the tank, but don't go there yet.
Go straight through door ahead, and kill that one guy on top. Then
climb up and shoot at the other guy across the street on the
second level. Climb back down. Now go slightly right, and you'll
see this is the other side of the firefight, with the tank behind
the chain link fence. Collect ammo here if you need more. Turn
around, and go between the two ruined buildings. One way is
blocked by debris. The other way leads to the street where you
see the tank... There is a door open with guards inside, but you
can take care of them.

You should see a big building to right, go around that building
(to left is the tank). Go to the waypoint on your GPS tracker.

Objective: Proceed to the Next Waypoint

Keep brick building to right, and go forward. Look for two
buildings with a linked upper floor. Follow the path under that
linked section. Follow the wall to your right, and voila, you're
at the waypoint.

Objective: Enter the Old Cathedral.

Look for the open door, go inside, kill guards. Ignore the
stairs, keep following corridor to right, and you're on the
street again. Turn right again, and you should see the supply
area with lots of crates, and a tall watchtower. Get around the
tower. There's a shooter on top, and 3 guards below. Kill them
all.

Move to the tower, and beyond it. A tank will be on your right.
Run a little left into the ruins. Follow left wall through the
ruins to avoid the patrols, or go through and kill everyone (two
at least). Follow the streets, and you should end up at the
Cathedral. (Look up and see the cross).

Objective: Find a back entrance to the sewers

Open the door and kill all the guards inside (lots of them). Go
up to the altar, turn left, and there's a door there. Open, head
down the stairs, and you're in the sewers again, as next level
loads.

5.6 BOSNIA 3 (M2M3)

Mission Briefing: You are almost at the warehouse. A jeep is
ready for your escape, but you better make it in time or they're
leaving without you!

Objective: Find a way around the roadblock.

One guy moves into your view from front. Kill him. Another guy
will run up, kill him too.

Stay in the alley. There's a tank to your right. One wrong move
and you're toast. Run across to the facing wall, turn to kill any
shooters next to the tank. Then run in the opposite direction
around the corner to the right.

You should just see a guy walking away. Shoot him in the back.
There's a broken cottage to your left, one guy inside. Kill him,
and get a medpack inside. Follow the road. You should see dead
cars. Continue... Stop when you see a tank to your right. Go to
the left wall and squeeze through (yes, you'll fit). Stop at the
corner.

The tank is to your right again. Look forward and see a set of
stairs down. Go DOWN the stairs you see there. Kill a guard.
Follow the corridor and at the T-junction, turn LEFT.

NOTE: If you turn right and go up the stairs, the tank will kill
you.

Follow the path and you'll come out under a bridge, kill more
guards. One guy may be at upper level. There's a medpack among
the crates. The entrance to sewers is in the corner. Climb down.

Objective: Find a way into the building next to the warehouse.

Follow the sewer to right, and go back up the ladder. You're now
almost next to the tank. There's a door between you and the tank
to the LEFT. Go inside and follow the path, clearing out guards.

Go through courtyard, then follow the lighted arch passage to
left. Go through another courtyard. You should see a left turn.
Kill guards. There's a graveyard to right with medpack.

Keep going. You should emerge near the ruins. To your left front
are the ruins. To the right is a chain-link fence, and a dead
jeep in front.

Kill guards to front and left. Follow the fence, keeping it to
your right. When you come to end of the fence, turn left, keep
the building to your right, and move forward. The path will turn
right. Watch out for ambushing guards hiding in corners (total of
3). Keep going, and you'll find another open grate into the
sewers at the end of this section. You're now next to the
warehouse. Climb on down into the sewers.

Objective: Deactivate the guidance system and extract the uranium

Through the sewers, and up the ladder again... You're almost to
the warehouse, next to the generator. Go up the stairs, keep
going, follow the corridor left and left into sleeping quarters.
Take out more guards. Go up to the balcony, shoot 2 guards below,
and jump down.

You should have spotted the opening in the chain link fence while
you're at the balcony. Go inside, kill guards. and up the small
set of stairs into the warehouse and work your way into the
garage area (3 jeeps and many crates). At least one guard on the
catwalk above you. Take them out. Then work your way through the
garage, up the other set of stairs. Make your way into the
sleeping quarters, clear them of guards, and finally, you'll come
across the warhead with 2 guards. Eliminate them.

This may be a good time to save, as next section is on a timer.

You may want to explore the rest the level a bit before you "do"
the warhead just to make sure you know where to go. Basically,
retrace your steps until you get out of the chain link fence,
then put the wall to your right and follow it until you pass the
dead tank, and you should come to a set of chain-link fence doors
you can't open. That's your exit. Now you can go back to the
warhead. Clear the bottom level of 3-4 more guys if you wish.

When ready, activate it. You just dropped a demolition charge
with a short fuse...

Objective: Proceed to the extraction point.

NOTE: You have 2 minutes to get the **** out. You can shoot at
guards in your way, but it may be easier to ignore them. If
you're running they can't do you much harm if you add in some zig-
zag.

Run back out. As you enter the garage, 2 more guys rush in. Kill
them. Run outside, and guys have taken over the balconies you
jumped down from. Take them out. Then go forward and watch your
left as 2-3 more guys are in that alley. Pass the dead tank. Find
that gate you can't open before. It's now open. Run through, past
the dead jeep. You should see a jeep in the distance. Run there
and you've escaped!

Again, there is no debriefing. It's straight into the third
mission...

5.7 NORTH KOREA 1 (M3M1)

Mission Briefing: a two-seater military plane was lost over North
Korea. The pilot and co-pilot have ejected and have been taken
prisoner by the North Korean forces. It is likely they will be
tried as spies and executed soon. You will go in and rescue them.

Objective: Proceed to the area surrounding the prison

You start next to the village near the prison, having infiltrated
by the river.

There are guards to your right, upper level, take him out before
he spot you. Go up the stairs and turn right, take out another
guard. Follow path to left turn, up small set of steps. To left
is a door/corridor. Go through. Kill more guards. Stop at the
exit.

You now have two choices. You can go straight, then left, or
left, then straight. Either way you will encounter 1 or 2 guards.
Take them out, and you end up at a corridor of short stairs going
down. Stop at the exit.

Immediately to the right is a guard. Take him out. Then 2 more
will appear (one from ahead / left, another from right). Take
them all out. You can explore left but there's nothing there.
You're at the river again. If you go down to the banks you can
find a medpack. When you're done, come back up, and you'll find a
lighted door/stairs right of where you entered. Go there.

Go up the stairs and kill guards. You see this small ceremonial
"tower". Go past it to the left, then right, and you see the
"pond". You may see a guard escaping.

Go through the door on the far side of the pond, kill the guards
there (3?). Keep following the corridor until the next area
loads.

5.8 NORTH KOREA 2 (M3M2)

Mission Briefing: you've made it to the outer wall of the prison.
Now you have to get inside...

Objective: Enter the prison

Go down the path, kill two guards when the houses starts (they
are hidden pretty well). Turn right, then left. You're into the
town. Kill one guard in front, one to the right (hidden).

You can go left to kill another guard, but there's nothing to
left. Go right and you'll see this lighted door opposite a big
double door. That's the prison. Kill guard inside. Go inside, and
you're inside the prison.

Objective: Locate the prisoner

Go up the ladder, go straight, down another ladder. Wait at
entrance.

Open door turn left, kill guard to left. You are now in the
courtyard. There is another guard in the courtyard somewhere to
your right, find him and kill him. Go back to the door you came
through on. Directly in front is a building with double doors. Go
to the right of that, the section with a water tower. Above that
is a guard in his watchtower. Kill him. Turn around and you'll
see a side door. That's how you get into the prison.

Kill 2 guards in the prison, get up to second floor, and you
should see your prisoner in the last room to left. Open the door
and activate him to have him follow you.

NOTE: to have him hold position, activate him again.

NOTE: If you notice that on the first floor, there's an empty
cell. Seems you're too late to grab one of the prisoners. Darn,
but one thing at a time.

Objective: Take him through a nearby irrigation system to the
alley.

Go back out of the prison the way you came... the side door, then
steps, up the ladder, down the ladder. If you are fast, the other
guards haven't come in yet. As soon as you climb down, get ready
to shoot the door, as 3 guards would have appeared there.

After the ladder, turn left, and go through the single door.
Follow the path right, left, right, left, watch for guards hiding
in deadend alleys and corners. When you see a deadend alley to
left, go in and tell your buddy to hold there. Then, go down the
path and peek left. As soon as the guys start shooting, back up
and turn around, as one guy will be coming up BEHIND you! Kill
the backstabber, THEN face forward again and kill the incoming
guards. THEN you can summon your hostage and lead him around.

Continue right, then left. You should come to this T-
intersection. Go left, and kill guards (3?) in corridor. Go
around building. (You could go the other way, no difference).
Kill more guards.

You come an S-curve with rocks on both sides, and 3 guards at the
end guarding a door. To the right of the door is the open grate
down into sewer system. Jump inside, and next level will load.

5.9 NORTH KOREA 3 (M3M3)

Mission Briefing: you need to get the former prisoner to a plane.
Then you need to get out of the airfield and rescue the other
prisoner.

Objective: Escort the rescued prisoner to the plane.

You are in a ditch. A jeep just drove by.

Follow the ditch to the end, and you should see the jeep sitting
still. Take the gunner and the driver out. Jump onto the ground
level. Go across open area, and open the door you see and get
inside. Go through another door. Shoot 2 guards to your right.
Another two will approach from the hangar door. Kill them. Have
the prisoner follow you into the hangar and to the plane.

Objective: Proceed to the opposite section of airfield

Go out the hangar through the hangar door, then turn left into
open area with jeep. Turn right and go through door. You're in
the empty conference room. There's medpack here

Go through next door into locker room, and take out 2 guards. Go
through next door on far wall. Jump the boxes into alley. Turn
left and kill incoming guards.

Go to corner and peek out. Two more guards should be approaching
from your right. Kill them.

Now it gets tricky, as you may notice a destroyed jeep. Beyond
that is a tank, which you can probably see. The trick in
surviving the tank is look for the ditch beyond it. The tank can
only turn its turret so fast, so you can go AROUND it, confuse
its tracking, then make your escape.

Anyway, run past the tank and down into the ditch. Crouch, turn
right, and follow the ditch into the next section.

Objective: Confirm takeoff of prisoner

Follow the ditch, which turns left. Climb up and take out the 2
jeeps driving around, as well as 2 guards on the high tower in
the distance. Go toward the chain link fence and the plane. Get
into the hangar, and go through the door, then another door.

Go into open area with chain link fence to left and crates in
front. Go left and through the fence opening. Two planes should
be to your left. Go toward the planes, and head toward the tower.
You should hear helicopter. As you approach the Mi-24 gunship
will take off.

Go through the door to your left. You're in ANOTHER hangar.

Now it gets tricky. Climb up the ladder, and you should see a
window with medpack. Climb out and drop to ground.

NOTE: climb out may be difficult, as you need to jump / crouch
very quickly.

Turn right and follow the tracker. You can see the runway. You
just confirmed the ex-prisoner took off.

Objective: Exit hostile airfield

Now turn 180. See on the far right there's a section of chain
link fence along the right wall? You need to go there. This is
REALLY difficult. You will either meet one tank and one gunship,
or 2 tanks here (depending on which version you're playing).
Better save here as surviving the gauntlet with decent amount of
health will be difficult.

Go through next chain link fence, and you're out of the airfield,
and onto area 4.

5.10 NORTH KOREA 4 (M3M4)

Mission Briefing: the other prisoner will be executed very soon.
You have to stop the execution, then take him to the evac point.
You have 4 minutes to stop the execution.

Objective: Enter the military compound

NOTE: You ARE on a timer... Better hurry.

Go straight then follow the path to right. Kill 2 guards on your
level and 2 more guards on top of steps. Climb up (medpack on the
top between the stairs). Keep moving.

Follow path left, right, then left. Kill three more guards at the
stairs. Climb up into village. Turn right at top of stairs, kill
more guards, follow the building to your left to the concrete
wall. Turn right, and follow the left wall until you see wooden
door to left (and guard). Kill guard and rush inside. There's a
door to your you can activate but it doesn't DO anything. Remember
this door as we'll be back here later.

Objective: Locate the prisoner

Go right to the side of building, and go in the side door, follow
the stairs up, kill guards. Go left, and left again, go into the
corridor, open the door and follow the tracker to the prisoner, as
multiple guards will appear from the side rooms. Activate him before
the countdown finishes.

Objective: Lead prisoner through old section of town

NOTE: Follow the path indicated by the GPS tracker. Kill guards
along the way. Watch for ambushing soldiers all over the place.
You no longer have a time limit, so take it easy.

Go back the way you came, through the side door. Make your way back
to that door you could activate (the cursor changes to "action") but
nothing happened before. Now you can open that door (now it would be
to your "left" if you made a right turn after coming out the side
door.) Go through.

Basically, go right, go through door, right, follow wall, go
left, down rock path. Watch for ambush ahead.

Objective: Proceed to Evac point

NOTE: There is really only one path through the North Korean
town. Just keep moving, killing guards, and find the path
through. The following section is a bit sparse, as I won't bother
naming all the turns and guards. Assume at least 3 guards every
section.

Go through bamboo door to left, go down the stairs, and kill
guards. Go left, left, left, and right.

You are at another set of stairs down. Kill guards, climb down.
Go through right, left, through door, right, into the dark
building, up, across, (guards!) down, right, right.

Go down another set of stairs. Go right, then left, and you are
almost at the river. Kill guards, turn left, and there is the
exit to the Zodiac boat waiting to take you both home. Get there
and mission ends.

Congratulations, you've won!
