---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ========= Customers ========= Kids The kids are the youngest citizens in Pizza World. Their limited allowances means that they can afford only simpler pizzas. They don't care much for a wild mixture of tastes, anyway. But the pizzas should be evenly put together. If their ears are then treated to hard techno or at least rock music, they feel right at home. They like restuarants with the youngest possible personnel. They feel slightly threatened by the presence of more than 1 guard. Found mostly at: 0600 hrs - 1200 hrs School 1800 hrs - 0600 hrs Residence Teens Music is THE hobby for teens in Pizza World. They like to meet members of their clique in a pizzeria. The atmosphere really heats up if there is hot rock music or techno. So much exercise makes you really hungry! So teens want a lot of stuff on their pizzas. The personnel should be about 20. They definitely feel disturbed by guards. Found mostly at: 0000 hrs - 0600 hrs Residence 0600 hrs - 0900 hrs School 1800 hrs - 2100 hrs Pub Students Health-conscious and with a definite touch of alternative life-style: students in Pizza World. They listen to almost every kind of music, but their favourite is meditative. They are relatively choosy about the recipes and want a high proportion of vegetables as well as symmetrical design and as many different sections on the pizza as possible. An intermediate personnel ratio, age around 25, is ideal for them. They can't stand guards. Found mostly at: 0000 hrs - 0300 hrs Pub 0000 hrs - 0900 hrs Residence 0600 hrs - 1200 hrs University Louts These are hard-working people. Found mostly at: 0000 hrs - 0600 hrs Residence 0600 hrs - 1800 hrs Office Big Shots This is the moneyed class in the city. Since they don't have to worry about prices, they pay close attention to quality. They prefer clean surroundings with classy entertainment, especially classical music or jazz in the background. They want their pizzas to be presented in a perfectly symmetrical shape. They expect a very high personnel ratio in a restaurant. The personnel should be formal, about 40 years old. Big Shots have no particular problems with guards in a restaurant. Found mostly at: 0000 hrs - 0900 hrs Residence 0000 hrs - 0300 hrs Pub 0900 hrs - 1800 hrs Department Stores 1800 hrs - 0000 hrs Opera Oldies Time has clearly taken its toll on them. They value the correct size of the portions of the ingredients. The personnel ratio should be medium and about 40. The presence of guards is tolerated by and large. Found mostly at: 2100 hrs - 0900 hrs Residence Tourists Every city is overrun by this species. Easily recognizable even at a distance by the constant flash of cameras, they storm everything which is even half-way interesting. They enjoy unusual foods they can tell their neighbours about. They love piped-in regional radio stations or Italian music. They prefer restuarants with a lot of personnel, especially experienced people around 35. They can only tolerate 1 or 2 guards at most without feeling ill-at-ease. Found mostly at: 0000 hrs - 0900 hrs Hotel 2100 hrs - 0300 hrs Pub ===== Staff ===== Errand Boy These hard-working employees are the foundation of your company. They deliver all of the delicious ingredients to your restaurant; without them, your cooks would be out of work. As long as you don't have a warehouse, they will just buy the ingredients at the nearest department store - a high retail prices! These fellows should no be too slow, or they won't be able to keep up with the work. You can even have your errand boys deliver pizzas and won't be dependent on people coming into your restaurant. Service If you want your guests to be satisfied with prompt service, you should carefully choose your service personnel. If service is too slow, it can cost the profit of the entire restaurant. The higher a service person's qualifications, the more orders he can remember. He also doesn't have to run to the cook so often to turn in the orders. Cook As soon as an employee is hired as a cook, he proudly wears his working uniform. He is the most important employee in the restaurant. Without him, nothing works! The performance of your cooks and the ovens in a restaurant affects both the potiental number of pizzas produced and their quality. Manager Of course a restaurant can run without its own manager - but not too well. This employee can take care of many important details which can give you a decisive edge over the competition. You can even delegate personnel management, price policy and the maintenance of furnishings of the restaurant to your manager. However, you must have a level 3 headquarters to do this. Guard These strong gentlemen can be hired to protect restaurants or your headquarters. They protect the building the entire day from nuisances or criminals. If attacked by gangsters, they have to defend themselves with weapons. Depending on their training, your guards are better armed and protected. But some target groups are annoyed by the presence of guards when they are eating. Punk These are nasty characters. They hang around jails and abuse passer-by. However, punks can also be hired for a little money to go to a competitor's restaurant. The customers there, especially Yuppies and Big Shots, won't be at all pleased, nor will the competitor's manager, who will now have to put guards in the restaurant to make sure nothing terrible happens. Courier These young petty criminals, who were waiting for their big chance, can be found in every city. They can be hired fairly cheaply at a jail and take any job without a second thought. Normally, they are only given small jobs which aim to contaminate a restaurant. But the really lucky ones get to blow up entire buildings with a bomb! Thugs They aren't the brightest under the sun. That is why thugs are given only the very simplest jobs. Thugs are physically very powerful, giving them a clear advantage at beating and clubbing things or people. They are also used to tear everything in a competitor's restaurants to pieces. But if guards shoot at them, they will defend themselves! They also defend the headquarters and can beat up employees. Gangster This shady character is an expert on firearms. Depending on his training, he is armed with a pistol, a rifle or a machine gun. Normally he is used to clean out the guards in a restaurant or to kidnap a personnel. But he doesn't hesitate to get into a shoot-out with a police squad. If your headquarters is too weakly protected by guards or other gangsters, he can lead the way for a bomb. They are also in charge of kidnapping and blackmail jobs. ================ Other Characters ================ Celebrity From time to time, VIPs will also deign to appear. Head of government, film stars and aristocrats visit the cities in Pizza World, with the press at their heels every step of the way. Whenever a celebrity eats in a restuarant, it becomes an attraction for the common people for a short while. It gives the restaurant a better rating in any event. Fat Man Thanks to his big inheritance, he no longer has to worry about earning a living. He has decided to concentrate soley on his favorite activity: eating. He stuffs himself from morning to night. For his hobby, he always look for the restaurant with the best pizzas in the town. Naturally, his visit is like a winning lottery ticket for the selected restaurant. His tastes are in the meantime much like those of a Big Shot. Policeman If a building is attacked, a squad is automatically sent to the scene from the police station. The strength of the squad depends on the size of the donations to the police. But each police station has only 1 squad. Couriers, punks and thugs are arrested immediately. But gangsters defend themselves with tooth and nail. If the attackers have already disappeared when the police arrive, the police carry out a raid. A restaurant, particularly if the company has a bad reputation, can be closed down on the spot. Offical The officals work in the city administration. From there, they fan out to check up on the restaurants. They come from one of 3 offices: Tax Office, Health Office or Employment Office. 1 restaurant is carefully examined by the officals every quarter-year. The worse a company's reputation, the more often the checks. They check hygenie, quality of ingredients, condition of personnel and unoffical revenues. Mayor He is the most important institution in a city - at least he himself is totally convinced of that. The prices he sets for rental objects and property in the city depend on how much he likes you. Moreover, he awards the converted gourmet stars and medals for restaurants. These decorations are a must in restaurants, particularly for big shots. Unfortunately, the mayor is not particularly objective in making his decisions. This great man's generosity appears only when donations flow. Flyer Boy As soon as you start advertising for a restaurant, this boy runs around the neighbourhood and hands out flyers. Your advertising is on these flyers. Supplier As soon as your warehouses have run almost empty, your supplier will be automatically informed to keep the supplies coming in. His employees will deliver the ingredients straight to the warehouse to fill it up completely. Cleaning If you don't close your restaurants for a long time, they get dirty. Your guests, and above all the Health Office, don't find that all funny. As soon as a restaurant closes, workers from the municipal cleaning team come by. These busy helpers then clean the restaurant. The time they need depends on amount of dirt. The team stops working at the latest when the restaurant reopens. Exterminator Your competitiors also do not always fight fairly. Suddenly, you have rats, cockroaches or woodworms in your restaurants. They drive away your guests and even destory the furniture! These pests can only be removed by a professional. A less expensive municipal exterminator takes much longer to do his job than an expensive top professional. ============== Main Buildings ============== Pizzeria The most important buildings on the city map are of course the restaurants. Your competitors' restaurants can be distinguished by the colour of the roofs, which is always the player's colour. The small restaurants can be expanded twice. First you have a snack bar, then a small restaurant and finally a large restaurant. Each pizzeria has a circle of influence around the building. The larger the restaurant, the larger the basic circle of influence (even without advertising). Advantages of expansion: larger guest area storeroom can hold more crates better refrigeration larger area of influence Small Pizzeria Minimum rental price: $330 Minimum price: $5000 Construction time: 2 hr Minimum expenses: $41 Kitchen capacity: 2 ovens Storeroom capacity: 2400 kg Medium Pizzeria Minimum rental price: $660 Expansion cost: $2000 Construction time: 2 hr Minimum expenses: $82 Kitchen capacity: 3 ovens Storeroom capacity: 2800 kg Big Pizzeria Minimum rental price: $1320 Expansion cost: $3000 Construction time: 2 hr Minimum expenses: $165 Kitchen capacity: 4 ovens Storeroom capacity: 4400 kg Warehouse Warehouses are an important investment for restaurant owners so you don't have to buy your ingredients at high prices from the department store around the corner. Just like the pizzerias, there are 3 sizes of warehouses, and you can see who they belong to by the colour of the roof. The best approach is to select the suppiler for a warehouse first, based on the quality of ingredients you want. Then you can assign the restaurants for which the quality is suitable to the warehouse. Always pay attention to the travel distances for the errand boys. Advantages of expansion: easier to supply several restaurants at 1 time better refrigeration reduced transport costs Small Warehouse Minimum rental price: $400 Minimum price: $8000 Construction time: 3 hr Minimum expenses: $50 Warehouse capacity: 7200 kg Medium Warehouse Minimum rental price: $800 Expansion cost: $1000 Construction time: 3 hr Minimum expenses: $100 Warehouse capacity: 10,200 kg Big Warehouse Minimum rental price: $1600 Expansion cost: $2000 Construction time: 3 hr Minimum expenses: $200 Warehouse capacity: 13,200 kg Headquarters Second only to he restaurants, this is your company's most important building. To build it, you must first buy a building in the city. You can then expand your Headquarters to a maximum of Level 6. Level 1 Minimum price: $6000 Construction time: 4 hr + a brief financial preparation + advertising for your branch + interior designer option available + receipe chef option available + receipe contests option available Level 2 Minimum expenses: $3000 Expansion costs: $20,000 Construction time: 4 hr + poster advertising available + training of staff available + hire guards + hire punks Level 3 Minimum expenses: $5249 Expansion costs: $30,000 Construction time: 4 hr + advertising all over town + hire managers + menus and receipes provided automatically + level 2 training for guards + rats and stinkbombs attacks Level 4 Minimum expenses: $6999 Expansion costs: $40,000 Construction time: 4 hr + level 3 training for guards + attacks by thugs + 10 couriers Level 5 Minimum expenses: $8749 Expansion costs: $50,000 Construction time: 4 hr + hire gangsters + level 2 training for thugs and gangsters + 15 couriers + 10 thugs Level 6 Minimum expenses: $10,499 Expansion costs: $60,000 Construction time: 4 hr + bomb a building + level 3 training for thugs and gangsters + 20 couriers + 15 thungs + 10 gangsters =============== Other Buildings =============== Flats Everyone who lives here has a home, of course. Normally he is there at night. The appearance of the residences varies greatly from city to city as a rule. But even when the buildings are typical for each country, they are still just residential buildings. School Even in Pizza World, kids must go to school. In the mornings, they all flood into the few school buildings. Due to the many breaks, you can sell quite a lot of pizza to the boys and girls. But this location is not very interesting for other target groups. Department Store Shopping opportunities are the centre of every city. Everyone living in Pizza World has to do his daily shopping in the nearest department store. That is why pizzerias located near department stores are always heavily frequented. Shopping is hard work and makes people hungry. As long as a restaurant doesn't have a warehouse, the errand boys buy the ingredients at the nearest department store at high end consumer price. Church This place of attraction pulls in the Oldies and the Tourists especially - although for completely different reasons. Since Tourists never pay too much attention to the sights, this is a good place to lure Tourists into a restaurant. Cinema Cinemas are the big attraction for crowds, especially in the evenings. Young and old meet here. A cinema near a restaurant is a good guarantee for good sales. Playground There are playgrounds for children at a number of places in a city. With sandboxes, swings and other highlights of good children's entertainment. The kids are always happy to come here. But, of course, only when it's not too dark outside. The children usually have enough money from their allowances to buy a pizza from time to time. Park The park is a popular meeting place for everyone except the big shots. Around midday people start pouring into the parks for a short break and rest. Tourists and Oldies are especially fond of their visits to the park. Pub When stores close, the pubs in the city come to life. If you have a restaurant open in the evening or at night, make sure there is a pub nearby, or it's certain to fail. There is almost no better guarantee for good sales than a few pubs near your restaurant. University Whenever there is a university, students can't be far off. The building itself is only interesting for this one target group, but the students spend most of their time here. There is only one university in every city, and it's open from mornings to evenings. If there are a lot of students in the city, a location near the university can be very lucrative. Office Block For some Yuppies, the office is their home. They start showing up in their small offices early in the morning. Yuppies are working hard on their careers somewhere almost all day. But there is always time for a quick business meal. Don't understimate the well-to-do Yuppies potiential in office areas. Factory/Harbour In many cities, Louts make up a higher than average proportion of the population. In the mornings, they slave in the factories without exception. Since the working time is distributed over almost the whole day and hard work makes a person hungry, you can always rake in the money here. The harbour is basically, another workplace - just like the factory. Naturally, you will find one only in cities that are located on rivers or on the seacoasts. Bank This building is naturally frequented most often by Yuppies and Big Shots. But normal people often pay a visit to this money temple to take care of their bank accounts. But the short opening hours mean that proximity to a bank is only interesting before noon. Hotel Naturally, only Tourists live in hotels. Whether a location near a hotel is lucrative depends on how many tourists visit the city on average. If the city is well-known tourist magnet, then the locations near the hotels will of course be worth the trouble. If there's one thing Tourists do well, it's spend money! Stadium All cities are proud owners of a large stadium. Major sporting events regularly take place there. These always last for an entire quarter. During a sporting event of this nature, the whole city is on the go. Good pizza sales will only be possible near the stadium. City Symbol Every city has a city symbol. This is the easiest way to recognize the cities immediately. It goes without saying that the city symbols are particularly popular with the Tourists. But Students also enjoy the cultural aura of these architectural masterpieces. Opera This is where the city's upper class gets together to see each other and to be seen. But Students, Tourists and other people interested in the arts go to the performances as well. The operas, much like the cinema, is quite a magnet to draw crowds. But there is somewhat more emphasis on the well-to-do of the city. City Administration This is the mayor's office. This is also where the officals of the Health Office, the Employment Office and the Tax Office work. When they go out on their regular rounds, this is the building they start from. Companies come most often to the Employment Office here to see if they can find any new employees. If you want to win the mayor's favour, a small increase in the donation here is just the thing... How do you get a gourmet star? I don't have the exact formula for getting a gourmet star. Basically, you should have a popular restaurant, well-trained staff, best quality of furishings and ingredients.... well, you get the point. 2. I already have the best furnishings and best restaurant of the year, doesn't these medals mean a star? No, a gourmet star can only be given by the mayor. 3. Is a gourmet star reached by big shot assessment?? Because there’s a notice in the major profiles section that stars come from big shot assessment: 70 that means I must achieve the 70 point right? They are affected by big shots although by how much i dun know. 70 is only if the mayor likes you the most among the competitors, which means you will have to bribe him. The default value before getting a gourmet star is 100 points. So if you haven't bribed the mayor yet, you better start now. It takes time for the mayor to lower his expectations of your restaurants. You can check the mayor's current expectations of you by clicking on the city hall. 4. So I’ve made a restaurant for the big shots, that is giving the best furniture and the best recipes for them, eg: big shots like superior furniture right? But how come my modern furnitured restaurant have a higher point than the superior one? I can't answer that. I have the same problem too but I've noticed that the cleanliness and condition of your restaurant at the time of the visit will affect the mayor's rating. the higher the level of training for ur staff will also affect it somewhat... 5. Is a first class restaurant means big pizzeria? I don't think it does but the restaurants that have won a gourmet star for me are all large. 6. I have five restaurant in the city all of them devoted to big shots. Is it better if I have only one or two restaurant in the city so the major can visit my restaurant more? Definately, it means that the mayor will concentrate his visits on those few restaurants.
